See all Philadelphia Intl. car rentals

Welcome to Philadelphia, where history meets a cool modern arts and foodie scene. In Pennsylvania’s largest city, you can visit the historic Independence Hall and walk down the arty and hip Mural all in one morning. The best way to make the most of the city’s varied and exciting attractions is to rent a car from the airport. This way you can spend plenty of time exploring what Philadelphia has to offer, and still fit in a sampling session of legendary Philly foods, such as the world famous cheesesteak.

What to See in Philadelphia

Do you want to see where the USA’s history was created as we know it today? No trip to Philadelphia is complete without visiting the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in the Old City. While you are in the neighborhood, be sure to check out Ben Franklin and George Washington’s old church and the oldest residential street in the country, Elfreth’s Alley.

There is certainly a lot for history fanatics to stay occupied in Philadelphia, but culture and science fans will be in for a treat as well. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is considered one of the best museums in the US, and the Rodin Museum is also well worth a visit. Probably Philadelphia’s weirdest yet most loved attraction, the Mutter Museum, is a Beaux Arts building full of medical oddities. Featured exhibits in the museum are parts of Albert Einstein’s brain and the tallest skeleton in America. In case you are looking for something unique to do in Philadelphia, this museum is not to be missed.

However, if you are after something a bit more creative, take a drive to the artsy neighborhoods of Fishtown and Kensington, or spend time at some of the gorgeous ‘outdoor art galleries’. Mural Mile boasts an incredible array of street art and the ingenious project ‘Magic Gardens’ sees an area covered in mosaics made from trash items. Plus, be sure to not miss the overspill of mosaics in the surrounding South Street neighborhood.

If kicking back and relaxing is more your thing, then the Delaware River waterfront needs to be on your radar. It is a scenic place to pass a few hours and enjoy pop up flea markets, hammocks and LED art. Alternatively, you can drive your car up to Rittenhouse Square and enjoy the urban atmosphere while unwinding with a delicious coffee in hand.

Speaking of coffee, the city’s food and drink scene is exciting, fresh, and delicious. There are plenty of chances to try the world-famous Philly cheesesteak. Local favorites can be had at Geno’s Steaks and Pat’s King of Steaks. In case you are vegetarian or vegan, check out Tattooed Mom bar, which is a hip place to eat and drink while viewing graffiti art on the walls. Despite being tempted to eat as many cheesesteaks as you want, you should leave room for other treats.

Do not miss out on the Cookie Dough French Toast served in Green Eggs Café, or the rainbow bagel in Chestnut Street Philly Bagels, or a Sushi Burrito. There is so much food to be tasted in Philly. You could easily spend your whole time in Philly driving around trying sumptuous dish after another.
