Claremont is akin to Sandton City in that both do wheeling and dealing. The restaurant found in this address is very welcoming. The atmosphere filled with an aroma of Love. Am recommending the Restaurant to all young and Old
I thoroughly enjoyed lunch at the Vineyard Hotel. The restaurant is such a tranquil space. From the indoor and outdoor fountains, and the courtyards, and passages that leave you feeling like you're in a novel set in a different time period. Getting to the food, the menu is surprisingly really well priced with a variety of light meals and salads, and the food is magnificent. Their they have an array of Traditional Caesar Salads. I chose the the Chicken and Bacon one, and did not regret it.
The vineyard always manages to surprise me. It's an old hotel but they make up for it in every way. The rooms are fresh and new, the restaurants excellent and the staff willingness nothing short of amazing. I had the the luck of having a malfunctioning air conditioner which could not be repaired but they happily turned it off at 1am at a request. The gym is small but amazing. It's with the best iv experienced and you could book a session with a trainer. For the less athletic you could always relax in the indoor heated pool or the outdoor "cold pool" or take a relaxing stroll in the garden where you are bound to cross paths with the friendly resident tortoise. The valet parking is another nice touch. This hotel is a prime example of how doing small things makes a huge difference in your experience.
This was a pleasant hotel, with beautiful gardens, comfortable beds and good buffet breakfast. But for us as a couple, we felt we were "fitting in" around other functions such as weddings and tour groups e.g. one night could not use the main restaurant, although there was a bar option. Overall, it was quite good. My biggest gripe was the lack of information available for attractions and tours. There was a travel/tour desk which we used, but you had to know what to ask for rather than having lots of information to look through. We then went to stay in a boutique hotel which welcomed us with a lovely pack of visitor's guide, map, hotel's recommendations, offers to assist etc - in our room waiting. Something like this would have been very welcome at the Vineyard.
We went for 9 days to the Vineyard with a family group of 7. The location close to Claremont and Cavendish Mall is very central. The hotel is magnificently situated in large lush gardens. The rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly and eager to help. The buffet breakfast is varied and generous. The pool area is as good as any in the US or Europe and the food served around the pool is high quality. The gym and spa are world class. Perhaps one of the top 3 hotels in Cape Town. We have already booked for next year.
We had mixed views of this large hotel. Maybe it was because we had previously stayed in some great boutique/period hotels during our 3 weeks tour in S.A or perhaps it was due to the size of this hotel. Alternatively it might be because the website plays on images of the older historic building and gardens, which is only a tiny part of the site. The hotel is away from the main city and is close to the botanical gardens, plus it has a wonder view of table mountain and lovely gardens in which one can relax. However, the bedrooms are small and lack character and the dining areas or lounges were taken over by suited business people talking loudly about how great they were or how much money they had made – odd when you are having a relaxing meal for two or on your way to the pool/spa in your dressing gown or swimming costume. We had purposefully booked a superior room with its own patio area but on arrival we were very disappointed and felt that we had made a poor choice of hotel. The room was small and felt a bit like an airport or budget hotel and the patio area was tiny as we had to shuffle around to get to the chairs. I guess that we were unfortunate to get room 122 as it was on the corner right next to the busy garden café so we were overlooked and had to put up with the constant chatter of visiting guests. We politely pointed out to the hotel that we had booked our room 10 months earlier and could not see why we had been allocated the smallest room on the wing. They could not move us to an alternative room of a similar nature but they did hep move us to a quieter room with a small balcony overlooking the gardens (156). This felt more like what we were expecting and helped us to enjoy are final few days in Cape town. Once settled we enjoyed the large swimming pool and hotel facilities. We learnt to ignore the day guests as we took our long walk to the pool and gym or strolled around the gardens spotting tortoises and wild birds. We had an amazing meal in the associated restaurant at Myoga and had the 7 course tasting menu with paired wines. We did struggle to find a dining option for other evenings but the bar snack option in the garden café was good, although we were not alone in waiting a long time for our meal to arrive. We also to breakfast in the garden café area as we did not like the ambiance of the larger corporate area called the square. The food selection was excellent with a self serve buffet area and a la carte options, and it was all very good. The experience was only tainted by jobs-worth staff who would not serve people because they were ‘supervisors’ or because it was not their zone – even though they were stood idle. We really got the impression that staff would only help you or talk to you if they thought that you might add a tip when you signed for each meal.
We have stayed many times here and love the relaxed atmosphere good service and lovely mountain views while still feeling close to Cape Town. We took our son and daughter in law for lunch here while staying in Cape Town and they also loved the hotel. Service with a smile and food excellent. Make sure you see the tortoise!!!

Definitly a great place with great people!!!
Phoned twice to confirm the time of breakfast. Upon arriving, we were turned away because they were closing breakfast 30 minutes before the time they confirmed twice. Wasted an hour driving only to be turned away at the door.
My son and I stayed at the Vineyard for 3 nights while visiting Cape Town. The hotel was a great introduction to this lovely city and in a good part of town, which made us happy. We felt like the common areas in the hotel were a little tired and could use some updating, but the room was modern feeling and we had a great view of Table Mountain from our window. The GROUNDS are beautiful. So much green foliage and little gardens where we walked around and got some great pictures. The pool area was nice and the workout facility was great. The breakfast buffet was adequate and they have seating inside as well as outside. Our stay was lovely and we would choose this hotel again.
