Stylish ocean-side apartment
This stylish and newly remodelled apartment is located right on the water, enabling you to hear the waves crashing on the rocks right beneath your bedrooms.
Enjoy the prestigious location on the world famous Chapman‘s Peak Drive. This 6km long drive hugs the mountain side next to the ocean and is widely regarded as one of the most spectacular roads in the world.
A long terrace on the ocean front features frameless glass windows, which can be pulled back to create alfresco living.
The ocean-side apartment is extremely roomy with 165m2. It has recently undergone an extensive and dramatic renovation, to create a stylish and luxurious space. We have demolished almost all internal walls and widened out the living room to create a substantial open-plan space, which offers better views of the water and the cliffs of Chapman Peak Drive.
The apartment comprises a large open plan living and dining area, which opens out onto the roof terrace, as well as two master bedrooms, a further bedroom which converts to a study, two bathrooms, and a fully fitted kitchen.
We have worked with one of Cape Town’s top interior designers to create a welcoming and contemporary environment, with distinctive African touches. The living room contains a number of pieces of African furniture, some of which have been made, especially for the apartment.
The walls of the apartment are lined by a number of oil paintings, some of which are shown in the pictures. All are by well-regarded South African artists and have been picked up over the years from leading auction houses and galleries in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
A spacious l-shaped “daybed” sofa, has been handmade to suit the dimensions of the apartment. It accommodates all guests and affords them views over Hout Bay. Next to this sofa is a wall-mounted 55inch Samsung TV and a sound bar. Comfortable zebra striped arm chairs sit on the terrace next to a spotting scope, which can be used to view dolphins jumping out of the water. The room also accommodates a teak and tan leather chaise longue. A stone topped dining table, with seating for eight people, is accommodated on the terrace area.
Stacking frameless glass windows enable all windows to be quickly opened. This enables the living room to be turned into a semi al-fresco area
There is a brand new high-quality kitchen with an island, wine fridge, and Smeg range cooker. Off this, through double wooden doors, is a scullery containing the fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer.
In the main bedroom the bed faces out over the ocean. The room benefits from extensive built in cabinetry and an African rattan chair next to the sliding windows. Off this room is brand new bathroom with a freestanding oval bath, a glass enclosed shower, a concrete double vanity unit with twin mirrors and high-quality tiling.
A further ocean-side bedroom contains a double bed and inlaid zebra pattern furniture from Weylandts.
The beds in both of the above bedrooms contain Sloom beds, which can be easily adjusted to configure the hardness of the mattresses.
Off the living room, and on the land side of the building, there is a study with a double “Murphy“ bed which folds down from the wall and has a high-quality mattress. N.B. the quality of this bed enables it to be used as a daily proposition and not just as an occasional best for guests. However, the bed can be folded away when not in use, so that the room can be used as a working area.
Off the corridor is a further shower room, with dramatic Italian ceramic tiling and guest WC.
The apartment is equipped with air-conditioning in the living room, bedrooms and study. Fast Wi-Fi is available for use throughout the property.
Guests benefit from ample storage space. The main cupboards have been designed and handmade for the apartment and have wooden doors. There is screed flooring throughout, and the walls are finished in muted off-whites and light greys.
One Chapman’s Peak is entered via a security check point. Guests benefit from a reserved parking space under a sun shade.
There is an ocean side swimming pool and sun bathing area available for the use of all residents of the block as well as two large gas fired barbecues at the pool area.
Steps lead down to the water, where there is a picnic table.
The entire apartment is provided exclusively for the use of our guests. The pool and barbecues are in a lightly used communal area.
Please note that this isn't a party apartment! We provide a Christmas tree and decorations over the winter holidays.
The apartment is air-conditioned and features 2 bathrooms and space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Other standard amenities include a washing machine and an ironing board.
