I spent one night at this modern hotel and was well pleased with the experience. The rooms have an industrial feel with exposed brick and iron work, which blended in well with the area where it is located. It is within easy reach of the Waterfront and the CBD as well as the N2 highway. Good value for money on a last-minute booking. Recommended.
We arrived at the hotel to early to check in, we made the reception staff aware of our arrival who told us that our room was not yet ready but took our luggage so we could grab some lunch while we waited. We returned an hour later (20 minutes after our room should have been ready) to be told again that our room was not yet available as they were waiting for someone to check out first. They offered us a drink while we waited so we went to the bar waiting to be called for our room. After 2 hours and no one coming over to us i went to ask if our room was ready only to be told that they were overbooked and we had been moved to another hotel. They claimed that our booking agent should have made us aware of the change, whether this is true or not we dont know but either way i don't understand why it took 3 hours and 3 separate members of staff for this to be communicated to us! We were only in cape town for 3 nights before moving to Stellenbosh so this was valuable time wasted and we had been travelling for well over 24 hours so were tired and just wanted a shower before we went to explore the city. They arranged transport to our new hotel only for us to get there and be told we were not staying there either and had to move again! Fortunately the hotel we were finally moved to was superb and in an excellent location so it all worked out well in the end but definitely not a good start to our honeymoon!
This well situated hotel in Cape Town Central is in serious need of proper management. Booked a so called quiet superior room for 2 nights. This was probably the noisiest room allocated. Requested a change whitch was promised for 2nd night. Arrived at 14h30 and was told that room not resdy yet even though check in time is 14hoo The so called duty manager did not have any answers to my questions and after a almost heated session he said the room might be ready after 30 minutes. In all my yeats travelling all over the world I have never experienced this type of inadequite service. Marriot wil not see us again soon!!
The overall stay was great. The room was spacious and designed for a business person with a 6-seater dining table and a relaxing sofa. the kitchenette was user friendly, except that it doesn't allow for light breakfast in terms of the cooking although having proper full catering utensils. Please ensure to request for the room(Loft) without stairs if you are not fit for Climbing to the Bed and Shower. it would have been great if the bathroom is shower and bath. it is only shower and very slippery. Not safe. Something need to be done about that. The stay was great with the gym.
This hotel has become our office and home IN CAPE TOWN , OUR stays IN this HOTEL HAS been from one best experience TO another.AS PROKARD members WE have explored quite A FEW Protea hotels in CAPE TOWN and We have now settled FOR PROTEA VICTORIA JUNCTION Because OF the Excellent services they offer, from bed TO breakfast TO supper ,Beautiful enviroment ,friendly staff ,Best management team that will move mountains TO ensure the comfort of their clients.what shines even THE most is their way OF making sure they handle every customer query OR complaint with urgency for best results. THE manager IS THE BEST IN TOWN ALWAYS THERE ALWAYS VISIBLE!
This hotel is in a great location to VA Waterfront and downtown. It has some views of Table Mountain if you get the room view. I booked a view room yet received the stadium instead from a low floor. The hotel is like a Courtyard and in good shape. Large restaurant and ground floor. Parking is below and very cheap if you decide to drive (I suggest self guided tour for CT) The service was very uninviting and not like Marriott or my other Protea experiences of Hotels that barely stood together. When I tried to check in 90minutes early I was refused and told to come back at 2 and no accommodation to try early. Apparently they were sold out and a large group was granted late check outs. Unsure why you would grant that when sold out two nights running to a large group. Not how you manage a house. Also at 2 they had already checked in other guests. Unsure why my room wasn’t put on queue and prioritized but they missed the mark here Also they took my cc on check in then wanted it again on check out. I felt they handled my cc more than I have ever had in any hotel. The other Protea didn’t do this either. All in all good property. Staff seem to be in a box without empowerment.
The hotel is very well located. Just 15 minutes walking from Water Front or 50 Rand by taxi. The breakfast is fantastic and staff very professional and kind. Rooms are big and well furnished. My room was a loft with a small leaving room, kitchen and WC and master bedroom on the mezzanine. Interesting for families but too big for me .
We have just returned today from an amazing stay in Cape Town. It was our first visit and we weren't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Hotel is in ideal location for walk to Waterfront and is a safe walk. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast provided a wide choice and was good value for money. We hired a car as our son was playing cricket at various locations around the Cape Town area and parking was never a problem. We will definitely be returning! Thanks for having us
I have nothing bad to say about the hotel except maybe the shower was a bit temperamental. Seemed like a bit of a business hotel, but as I was here during the week I can see why! It had a bit of an industrial feel about with exposed brick and metal beams. What interaction I had with the staff was fine, though the chamber maid liked to drop by now and again to check that everything was ok, which could be slightly annoying. Overall a pleasant, though slightly expensive stay!
Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Victoria Junction good hotel to tay in Cape Town near the waterfront and attractions. Good size room and good parking under the hotel. Esy access to get in and out of Cape Town to see attractions.
