We arrived in Cape Town five days ago and coming to this hotel which after a twelve hour flight was like heaven. The staff are truly wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for any of them. They have six rooms and happy to find ours was a suite, with sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and private terrace. It's quiet, relaxing and the manager Michelle is very nice. Their sister hotel across the courtyard is the Victoria and Alfred, a bigger hotel where we tried for breakfast one morning but preferred the intimacy of The Dock House. It's location is perfect a short walk to the Waterfront with all of its exciting activities. Would thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a quiet but special place to stay.
Excellent, large comfortable bedroom with balcony overlooking the pool and garden, with views of the ferris wheel. Furnished to a high standard. We have our own staircase and the most wonderful bathroom. Service is second to non, everyone is so helpful and friendly. Had a super time.
Tucked away in an obscure corner on elevated grounds overlooking the V&A Waterfront, Dock House offered a truly unique and luxurious experience especially when we arrived not knowing what to expect with this being our first visit to Cape Town. Our needs were served down to the tiniest details and the staff absolutely spoilt us. The hotel offers a modern twist with plenty of old world charm. The balcony in our room provided a stunning view of the waterfront especially in the early evening. The bed offered heavenly comfort and the bathroom was thoughtfully laid out with every needs of the guests carefully addressed. The breakfast room was one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced while the continental style buffet spread was carefully selected with a mix of healthy options next to the more typically bakery options. With a total of six rooms in the entire building, the level of personal attention was second to none. I will definitely stay at Dock House again if I ever return to Cape Town. I would highly recommend this to any discerning traveller looking for a different sort of experience.
We were booked into the V&A, but on our arrival were upgraded to the Dock House for the first 4 nights of our honeymoon. The Dock House was just the most perfect start to our honeymoon. The room and view were spectacular and the service amazing. We would recommend a stay at the Dock House to anyone. If you want a view of the Waterfront, ask for a room on the first floor.
From the initial arrival, where we were welcomed as we parked in front of the hotel, to the final au revoir as we departed, the staff could not have been more attentive. The room and large en-suite were very clean and the view of the wheel from the balcony was very acceptable. The location of the Dock House Boutique Hotel is perfect, just on the edge of the V&A so all the attractions are within walking distance. We would recommend it every time.
Really beautiful hotel with the best location-our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the Cape Wheel. Great service from the staff who even offered us breakfast in the room at no extra charge-a great value add.
This was the end of a two week trip in the Bush for the wife and I before we headed back to Houston. A company called Africa Geographic put the whole trip together for us. They did a wonderful job, including two nights at this remarkable hotel right down on the waterfront. I believe this building was originally the Harbor Master's home, a century or so ago. We just don't build this way anymore. Soaring ceilings, beautiful wood work. We were in a first floor suite that included a foyer, sitting room as well as spacious bed and bathrooms. Absolutely elegant. There is a nice area for breakfast and an attractive "back yard" with a swimming pool and lawn. The accommodations are certainly as nice as anyplace I have stayed, but what makes the Dock House unique, for me, is the level of service. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie. The Dock House is part of a complex and we ate dinner one night in the other hotel which was very nice. Not a place for children and it is a fair drive to tour the peninsula or the wine country. The Dock House and Cape Town were just the right way to end a fabulous trip to southern Africa.
Dock House is a lovely boutique hotel with exceptional service. The rooms are spacious and quiet with attention to details. There are heating racks for the fresh thick towels, robes and slippers laid out by your bed nightly along with a bottle of water and a freshly baked sweet treat on your bedside table. Breakfast daily was delicious with an assortment of breads, fruits, meats, cheeses and juices set up when you enter the beautifully set up dining room. The items on the menu offered a nice selection and were all great. I particularly enjoyed the ostrich Benedict. I cannot say enough about the wonderful friendly service of the staff. Our group arranged a driver through the hotel for 2 days. One day we went around the coast and the other to the wine county. Russell, our driver for both days was delightful! He was knowledgeable of the area and could not have been more delightful to spend 2 days with. I highly recommend this lovely hotel!
What a lovely honeymoon surprise! We were very well welcomed late hours by Nicholas and the next day met Michelle, Cinthya and all amazing staff that made our stay perfect. Room is beautiful and always clean, breakfast is full of great options, the Hotel itself is a hidden gem in Cape Town and has easy and convenient walking distance access to V&A Waterfront. Another benefit is that it shares facilities with all Newmark hotels close by, so we've tried breakfast in another hotels as well. Their Spa next door is also a must-try. Me and my husband loved our days at Dock House and can't wait to come back for another season, thank you for amazing days!
We were originally booked into the V&A Waterfront Hotel, a sister property, and upon our arrival we were notified that we were upgraded to the Dock House. The Dock House staff were very cheerful and helpful. The room we were put in was large and nicely furnished, but didn't have much in the way for a view. We were in room 501 which had a lounge, bedroom and bathroom. I suppose if you value your privacy, this would be an ideal spot. If you were looking for a view of the waterfront, or Table Mountain, this is not an ideal room. The Gym was nicely equipped but you needed a separate key-card to enter. The pool area was nice and the breakfast was very good. We had problem with our Wifi, due to some apparent construction in the area and we could hear noise from the waterfront into the wee hours of the morning when trying to sleep. For $250/night, this is an okay spot, but we definitely stayed at better spots for that cost. Not terrible, not perfect.
