I can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay at the dock house. Michelle and her stuff or exceptional! The rooms were perfect, the breakfast wonderful! Their room service was also good. Try dinner at their sister Hotel right next door. The location is great within walking distance to the pier where they had shops restaurants and entertainment. Because the hotel is small all you needed to do was poke your head from the room and there was always someone there to ask if you needed anything. There is a small pool on site it is easily accessible for handicapped if u are on first floor. We were greeted with smiles and when we left we got a fond send off. We were there during the drought and the staff did everything possible to make us comfortable water was not a problem. If I were to return to Cape Town I would definitely return to the dock house. Thank you Michelle and your stuff for your hospitality!
As soon as we arrived at the Dock House and were warmly greeted by Prince at the entrance and Michelle as soon as we entered the hotel we knew we were somewhere very special. Our room was large with very comfortable bed and furnishings with access to a patio area and the garden and perhaps the largest most elegant bathroom we have seen. Breakfast was superb, a buffet selection of fruits, cereals and pastries and a lovely choice cooked to order. The pool area was lovely with drinks available at the pool side bar. Perhaps the most outstanding aspect of the Dock House are the staff. We were greeted by name by every member of the staff and everyone couldn’t be more pleasant and helpful. Michelle and Cynthia the managers were very helpful in helping us make reservations for restaurants and various activities. Five star service during difficult times with the water shortage in the city. The location of the hotel is perfect a very short distance from the waterfront and the hop on hop off bus service, but away from the hubbub of the area. If we could give more than 5 stars we would and recommend anyone looking an unforgettable stay in Cape Town to go to the Dock House!
We arrived in the afternoon after a long flight via Johannesburg from London and instantly felt relaxed and at home. We filled in the usual hotel paperwork in the hotel ‘reception area’ totally unaware that we were actually in the living room which along with a huge bedroom, hall and bathroom all constituted our ‘room’. It was basically a huge apartment and if you’re going and it’s free, ask for room 1. We loved everything here: directly opposite the waterfront yet very quiet. Spotlessly clean, beautiful breakfast and more than anything, the staff were really really lovely and welcoming. I can’t recommend this hotel enough as it is a renovated historical house (which belonged to the dock master) and it ticks every box. The pool area looked great but we were too busy to use it!
We arrived in Cape Town five days ago and coming to this hotel which after a twelve hour flight was like heaven. The staff are truly wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for any of them. They have six rooms and happy to find ours was a suite, with sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and private terrace. It's quiet, relaxing and the manager Michelle is very nice. Their sister hotel across the courtyard is the Victoria and Alfred, a bigger hotel where we tried for breakfast one morning but preferred the intimacy of The Dock House. It's location is perfect a short walk to the Waterfront with all of its exciting activities. Would thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a quiet but special place to stay.
Excellent, large comfortable bedroom with balcony overlooking the pool and garden, with views of the ferris wheel. Furnished to a high standard. We have our own staircase and the most wonderful bathroom. Service is second to non, everyone is so helpful and friendly. Had a super time.
Tucked away in an obscure corner on elevated grounds overlooking the V&A Waterfront, Dock House offered a truly unique and luxurious experience especially when we arrived not knowing what to expect with this being our first visit to Cape Town. Our needs were served down to the tiniest details and the staff absolutely spoilt us. The hotel offers a modern twist with plenty of old world charm. The balcony in our room provided a stunning view of the waterfront especially in the early evening. The bed offered heavenly comfort and the bathroom was thoughtfully laid out with every needs of the guests carefully addressed. The breakfast room was one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced while the continental style buffet spread was carefully selected with a mix of healthy options next to the more typically bakery options. With a total of six rooms in the entire building, the level of personal attention was second to none. I will definitely stay at Dock House again if I ever return to Cape Town. I would highly recommend this to any discerning traveller looking for a different sort of experience.
We were booked into the V&A, but on our arrival were upgraded to the Dock House for the first 4 nights of our honeymoon. The Dock House was just the most perfect start to our honeymoon. The room and view were spectacular and the service amazing. We would recommend a stay at the Dock House to anyone. If you want a view of the Waterfront, ask for a room on the first floor.
From the initial arrival, where we were welcomed as we parked in front of the hotel, to the final au revoir as we departed, the staff could not have been more attentive. The room and large en-suite were very clean and the view of the wheel from the balcony was very acceptable. The location of the Dock House Boutique Hotel is perfect, just on the edge of the V&A so all the attractions are within walking distance. We would recommend it every time.
Really beautiful hotel with the best location-our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the Cape Wheel. Great service from the staff who even offered us breakfast in the room at no extra charge-a great value add.
This was the end of a two week trip in the Bush for the wife and I before we headed back to Houston. A company called Africa Geographic put the whole trip together for us. They did a wonderful job, including two nights at this remarkable hotel right down on the waterfront. I believe this building was originally the Harbor Master's home, a century or so ago. We just don't build this way anymore. Soaring ceilings, beautiful wood work. We were in a first floor suite that included a foyer, sitting room as well as spacious bed and bathrooms. Absolutely elegant. There is a nice area for breakfast and an attractive "back yard" with a swimming pool and lawn. The accommodations are certainly as nice as anyplace I have stayed, but what makes the Dock House unique, for me, is the level of service. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie. The Dock House is part of a complex and we ate dinner one night in the other hotel which was very nice. Not a place for children and it is a fair drive to tour the peninsula or the wine country. The Dock House and Cape Town were just the right way to end a fabulous trip to southern Africa.
