This is a very old hotel with serious problems!one of the serious problems in the room was that we stayed 3 nights there and the air conditioning was out of order for all our stay!there was no water in the toilet for the whole day!the washbasin has a problem with the water and the bed linens caused us to scratch our body for the whole night,we couldnt sleep!the bed linens were cleaned by no good chemicals and we had to scratch our body for the whole night! thanks god was the last night and the next day we were living! Mrs Francesca in reception was the receptionist and the concierge as well!5star hotel and there was no concierge!i asked Mrs Francesca who is the concierge and she told me that she is the concierge! the first night she sent us to eat at a restaurant which was closed and not serving food and we were searching in town where to go to eat! The hotel has free shuttle service but if you don’t call at the right time who tell you even 5 minutes later Mrs Francesca tells you that she will send the shuttle to pick you up but there is extra cost 50.00 Euros! We stay in town at cold and we were waiting for half an hour for the shuttle bus to come to pick us up in order to avoid pay the 50.00€ extra charge. I called the restaurant manager what time is closing and the manager of the restaurant told me 10.30!we went to eat at 10.00 and the restaurant manager told me that the restaurant was closed!i told him that I called before 3 hours and you told me that the restaurant close at 10.30!he couldn’t accept his answer he gave me before on the phone!finally he told us to seat down and eat but the whole restaurant was closed with no cutleries, linens, plates, china etc on the tables! Guys really don’t go here for sure! you spend your money and the service you get is completely zero. the staff in this hotel everywhere at all positions they are not professionals at all and they are rude, they don’t know even the basics for a 5 star hotel and they don’t know how to behave!i didn’t leave any complain in the reception when we did check out because really it doesn’t worth to spend my words for this hotel at all! Please be very careful and don’t choose this hotel never.
excellent place , beautiful view a welcome team has all the important facilities traffic to the directions of Mendrisio usually free the food in the area is expensive if you a runner it's an excellent place to run long distance
I only stayed in the hotel for one night but was more than enough to give it a 5 star review, which I dont give that easy. Rooms are very spacious, super clean. The beds, pillows and the sheets are extraordinary so the sleep I had was one of the best in any hotel Ive stayed. Bathroom is amazing, balcony is big and the lake view is amazing. The minibar is well stacked, the staff is very friendly. Last but not the least, breakfast was great. Im sorry I havent had the time to visit the spa but I guess it must be beautiful. Highly reccomend!
Stayed here for one night whilst driving down to Italy. We used this opportunity to have a spa afternoon with full body massages and facials which were very good and highly recommend. The rooms were nice and clean although may need updated in the next few years as they were starting to show a bit of wear and tear. Dinner in the restaurant was nice and fairly priced and the staff were attentive and helpful at all times. Overall a very nice relaxing stay with good food, views and great spa!
I was surprised at the great rate we got at a hotel of this quality. The room we had was huge by European standards. As was the balcony which offered wonderful views of Lago di Lugano and the village across the water. The room was well appointed, the bed and linens amazingly comfortable and the bathroom modern and spotless. There were also multiple outlets for all our electronics, something that is missing from a lot of European hotels. It was obvious that this hotel caters to a lot of demanding visitors. Swiss hoteliers do not focus on staff friendliness, but rather on providing great service. And that is exactly what we experienced here. The staff was never obtrusive, but somehow always there when you needed something. For example if there were 2 people checking in, suddenly there was someone to help out. We ordered ice for the room one day, and every day thereafter ice was brought to our room at the same time. The bartender remembered our wine preference from the previous day. Once served, he would disappear, then come back when our glasses were not quite empty. Great timing. We did not try the gourmet restaurant, but the bar food was excellent and considerably less expensive. The breakfast buffet was expansive, delicious and included warm items such as eggs, sausage and bacon. Lovely Morcote is a short walk away. It is small but offers several excellent waterfront restaurants featuring fish fresh from the lake. The only complaint is that if you shower standing up you will flood the bathroom. The result of great water pressure and a leaky and poorly designed glass partition. I suspect the maids are sick of mopping up after the guest and that the hotel will address this issue.
The hotel is in Morcote a couple of minutes from Lugano. We had a nice traditional room with view over the lake. The hotel style is traditional. Perfect for a weekend when you look for a quiet place, outside pool and time to relax.
Not many great 5 star options in Lugano. For the money this was the best value I could find. Rooms are dated, but if you book a lake view room you get a very nice view. The staff is helpful but not overly friendly. I’ve experienced much friendlier service at 4 star hotels. Overall a safe choice if you want to relax by the lake in a decent hotel without getting taken to the cleaners.
Stayed in the end of July. We liked the most vied from the hotel (lake view) and the room itself. Was spacious, enough space for 3, nicely furnished although slightly aged, quite and comfortable. Hotel’s restaurant on the other side of the road with fantastic lake view. Nice jogging option. Space for improvement. Wifi could work better in our room, parking during the weekend had not enough space for all cars.
This hotel has many great things about it: * Location!!! Right next to lake offering great views. And the fact that there is road between hotel and lake does not bother at all - they have underground tunnel for reaching lake - very convinient. * Hotel grounds are great - sunbathing and swimming in lake, little spa with jakuzzi, steam sauna, hammam and indoor pool. * There is pool outside as well but they do not have sumbeds there and also the pool is very cold there - in august lake water was warmer and more enjoyable * Rooms are clean and nice * Parking available The only things we did not loooove about this hotel was the staff there - I must agree with someone who wrote a rewiev about this hotel lacking attetion to detail. I booked a hotel directly from homepage and had only one special request - room with a bathtub. When arrived we still got a room without it. Also - on last day (we stayed 4 nights) we asked for check-out one or two hour later and they refused telling that our room will be needed -the hotel were definately not sold out - also - our room was not the nicest one in this hotel - it had no view, no balcony etc. And booking.com showed plenty rooms available on that day - so that tells already something about staff. Overall all the staff was polite and professional, BUT not friendly (bit haughty even). I really liked this hotel - some attention to their staff attitude and visiting it could be amazing experience.
I like this place Nice view, nice rooms but breakfast is very cheap and even the food at the very ecpensive pool restaurant is nothing special at all Plus swimming pool water was always cold even during very hot days
