Thanks for me hotel Delfino !
The Hotel Delfino is a good hotel with excellent service. This hotel is a great value. The service was excellent, the food was good, the pool was lovely, and the rooms were clean and neat. The hotel property is maintained well and is in good condition. While the Hotel Delfino is technically in Lugano, for practical purposes it is really in Paradiso. However, the bus stop is right outside the hotel -- you can buy your bus ticket at the machine at the bus stop with cash or credit card. It is a short bus ride to Lugano Centro and the buses run regularly, so the hotel is very convenient to Lugano. You can walk along the waterfront to Lugano in about 20 minutes during the daytime (I would not recommend doing this walk at night). The hotel is very close to the Monte San Salvatore Funicular in Paradiso (the funicular is just down the hill from the hotel, within walking distance). If you want to buy groceries, there is a Migros (supermarket) just down the hill as well. Also, I was able change my money at a good rate in Paradiso at the Ufficio Cambio Prado/Western Union (Via S. Salvatore 2, Paradiso) If you are driving to the hotel, it is right off the main motorway as you enter Paradiso - but make sure that you know where you are going as the hotel is on a one way street. The hotel has a parking garage. [Also, if you are driving, make sure you have cash for the Swiss highway toll if you are driving in from Italy - the toll is rather expensive - The Swiss Motorway Sticker (Vignette) is 40 CHF, or 37 euros - it is good for one year]. The Hotel Delfino is a great value and I very much enjoyed my stay. The staff was helpful and well-informed. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
When we first entered the hotel we were really scared that it will be very bad, since the hotel needs a renovation badly. Our room was on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the lake and the mountains. The view was beautiful!!! We got a free minibar and Nespresso machine, which we enjoyed very much. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from the center, its clean, and the service is great. Our overall experience was very good and got a good value for money.
OK, this isn't actually a 5 star hotel but my experience there was 5 star. The staff are warm and welcoming - and storing my luggage both before check-in and after check-out was no issue at all. They were very helpful with directions and recommendations. The rooms are average sized and while the decor is a little tired, they offer great views of the lake, pool, nearby pretty villas or San Salvatore peak. The pool area is one of the reasons I booked this hotel - there's plenty of space to sunbathe around it and it catches the sun all day, until quite late. The buffet breakfast isn't a showstopper but it is perfectly fine and it's lovely to be able to sit in the sun by the pool as you eat it. It's a lovely stroll down to the lake and along the front to Lugano itself. It's 15-20 mins max, but you barely notice it as the walk is so peaceful. There's a few steps to negotiate on the way back but nothing the average person can't handle. At this end of town there is also a ferry boat terminal, and you're only 5 mins walk to San Salvatore funicular. It's well worth the fairly expensive ride up and then the walk to Carona and on down to Morcote. We took a picnic then caught a bus back that dropped us near the funicular again. There is a ferry that leaves from Morcote, and returning via the lake would have been special but we didn't want to rush the walk to catch it. Gorgeous views all round. Another highlight was the funicular up Monte Bre - we walked up to the summit, which was hard going in the 35 degree July heat but worth it for the outstanding views over Switzerland and Italy. Great little hotel for a fabulous stay in a very pretty location!
We just enjoyed a get-away weekend at the Delfina in Lugano. The weather wasn't great, but we made the most of it aided by special package offered by the hotel. We took a water taxi to the Swiss Minateur - this something we probably wouldn't have done absent the package, but we are very glad we did. We also took the funacular to the top of Mont San Salvatore. The cloudy disbursed and the sun came out long enough for us to see the spectacular view of the area, especially the lake. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, with good firm mattresses. The breakfast was a great selection of cold meats, cheeses, yoghurt, cereal and lovely fresh breads and rolls. It is a 15 or 20 minute pleasant walk from the city centre, 5 minutes from the funacular and 7 from the water taxi at Paradis. The hotel is rated 3 or 3 and a half - we would rate it as a solid 4. We very much enjoyed Lugano and will be back (hopefully in better weather).
We liked the easy parking, friendly staff, good breakfast buffet, nice sized room and very good food in the restaurant. For fine weather there is also a pool and terrace with a view of the mountains. The only downsides were a very noisy bathroom fan, a mental shower head which sprayed water everywhere, and the fact that whatever the publicity material says this hotel is a good half hour walk into the city centre. But overall very nice.
We had a relatively compact room with a fairly tiny washroom, that apart everything else was very good. Very conveniently located, good neighborhood and views, a fairly elaborate breakfast spread and finally a friendly & helpful staff. However one downer is the fact that they don't have tea/coffee making facilities in the room, that should be addressed. Thanks.
We stayed four nights at Hotel Delfino, and we were not disappointed. The beds were comfy, the room was small, but not cramped, and the balcony was nice. Breakfast was very good, and the dinner buffet looked great. We arrived back late, and the maitre d' made sure we got great service and a good meal. All of the staff were helpful and gave good advice and discount cards for many of the attractions.
The hotel is well situated, a simple 10 min stroll down to the lake and about 15-20 min. from the city center. You have a nice walk along the lake shore. The hotel is also easily reachable by bus from city center or railway station. A bus stop is located very close to the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean, with air conditioning and nice balcony with a view. The mini bar was free with drinks. Try to get a room that have a view of the pool area – there are bigger and you would have lees noise from the railroad that is just on the back of the hotel. The big advantage of staying here is a swimming pool that I used quite often as it was rather hot during our stay. I liked the pool area, which was not overcrowded and was a good place to relax and have a swim. The hotel has a parking lot - a bit too expensive). The dishes in the restaurant are good and not too expensive for Lugano. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this hotel, it is quiet and comfortable and it is good value for money considering that hotels are expensive in Lugano.
enough parking lot, clean room. Breakfast is as good as other hotel. price was reasonable. Not far away from lake. (10 min walk).Hotel mini bar was free with drinks. Swimming pool available. Recommend for family trip.
