I stayed at the Sun Riviera Hotel for two nights in early December. The hotel is pretty small and it was very quiet, except for a dog barking somewhere outside on the first night well into the night. The hotel was clean but had somewhat dated fixtures. The room was pretty small (definitely, no room for an extra bed in there, if need be), with separate bathroom and toilet. The bed was comfortable. There was a minibar (mind the EUR 5 for a small bottle of water!), free WiFi, and the HD TV had a selection of French and int'l channels. I found the breakfast selection to be very limited, which was OK for a couple of nights that I stayed there (there's a cafe in the next building as well). The staff was very friendly, and the hotel's location (on a one-way shopping street) is just a couple of blocks from the sea. In my opinion, I'd question whether it's a 4* (as it claims to be) or a 3*+ hotel but in any case it's a decent choice if you need to spend a few nights in the center of Cannes.
This hotel did exactly what it was supposed to. The rooms were clean and relatively big with nice bathroom. We used the garden area a lot as it was a tranquil place away from the hustle and bustle of Rue D'Antibes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast at 18 Euro is a little toppy. A recommended place to stay for an unpretentious hotel in the heart of pretentiousness.
Positives; -very good comfy bed! Which in the end is the most important thing to me and hard to find in Southern Europe. Most beds are too hard to me. -nice bathroom with bath tub and separate toilet -there's not much noise from outside, you can hear people next door but I always bring earplugs so I'm good. Negatives; -main negative was the lady at the reception who was very mean to me. My country has warned us to not let anyone make a copy of your passport, fine if she wants it and doesn't agree but you don't need to yell at me and be extremely rude and then talk to staff about me in French, which I understand really well... -it's not a 4 star hotel, I'm sorry but when wallpaper comes down on walls and there are stains on walls and carpets and elevators etc.. you're not a 4 star hotel. Need renovation for that. All in all it's bitter sweet, loved the bed but would have liked to not be treated so badly, that gave me a very bad feeling.
This hotel is rated with 4 stars, which they boast, but I am not sure how. It was a fine hotel to stay in, a little rough/old looking in some aspects. The room was definitely not cleaned to a 4 star quality. The staff was not very friendly either. However, it was a good price, air conditioned, and great location in Cannes.
We stayed in the hotel for one night on our way from Italy to Spain. We arrived late in the evening so were not able to use all the facilities such as a swimming pool. However we enjoyed the hotel location. It is situated in the city centre just on the shopping street and very close to the seaside. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable. We also had a small balcony overlooking the city. There was a free WiFi. The only thing we didn't like is when upon check out we wanted to pay for a bottle of water from the minibar the lady at the reception told us that they are not excepting card payments for such small amounts. However when we told her that we either pay buy card or won't pay at all as we didn't have cash she accepted the payment.
We arrived at the hotel to be met by guiseppe Breakfast was !!!!, repeated everyday the same thing, the scrambled eggs were not good and the bacon was greasey, we know it is FRance but there was no toast and the bread given was rock hard (we have stayed at 5 other hotels in the south of France so we can give a good opinion). There was no fresh fruit and when I asked for a banana considering it was allegedly a 4 star hotel I was told it was declined. The breakfast man was Johan and if it wasn't for his sense of humour we wouldn't of eaten the breakfast at all. As far as we are concerned this is not a 4 STAR HOTEL !!!!!!! We knew one of the receptionist from a previous hotel and it was good to see a freindly face, but we never felt welcome at this hotel at all by the other receptionist. We paid for a comfortable double room , but to be honest the room was appealing, there was being room to move around at the bottom of the bed and it was small, we were not happy at all. The housekeeping ladies knocked on our door nearly every morning to ask "we clean your room ??? Do you need you're carpet hoovered ",","," we work hard all year and are not happy being disturbed at 9am when on holiday, at one point they knocked so much and we had put the do not disturb sign on the door, that I had to answer the door in my towel as I was having a shower.
Just had 3 nights at this hotel! No way is it a 4* starting with the pool it is stinking dirty as are the pink outdoor furniture. Don't be fooled by the photo's the hotel provide as the outside is nothing like it. We walked passed it as we were looking for 2 ornate trees either side of the entrance ! These do not exist! The reception is just big enough for a desk. Our room was to the back, it was a good size but very dated with dirty stains on carpet, stains on lamp shade and very dirty curtains! I will say that the bed was comfy and the sheets were clean. The whole place just needs to be refurbished as it is in s great location. Unfortunately I can't say anything nice about staff I found them all to be slightly rude and not very friendly. 18 Euro's for breakfast - there are 2 cafes a couple of steps away with the breakfast starting at 8 Euro's- Sorry Sun Riviera - not up to scratch - not for me
We stayed in Hotel in Aug for 3 nights. Hotel has perfect location. You can walk to main tourist area. It was mentioned that it is 4 star property but we don't think so. Room was fine , but air conditioning was horrible. We asked hotel staff , but as per them this is standard , which is quite unfortunate. We also requested a Fan if possible, but didn't even get that. Breakfast was quite ok
My daughter and I have just spent a week at this lovely hotel in Cannes. It was my daughter's 30th birthday on the day after we arrived so I emailed the hotel the week before to order some champagne on arrival. They did better than that and gave us an upgrade on our room so we were on the third floor overlooking the pool and garden with a lovely balcony. We had a fantastic week. Cannes is a beautiful and fascinating place. The weather was gorgeous. The Sun Riviera staff were all helpful and friendly and the whole hotel was brilliant. Our room was spacious and the beds were SO comfy. The air conditioning was industrial strength and much appreciated. If we go back I would most certainly stay at the Sun Riviera. Great location close to the many boutiques restaurants and bars on Rue d'Antibes and beyond. Loved it!
Two years ago on a day visit to Cannes, we were walking along the Rue D'Antibes when I felt really unwell (too much sun). We saw the Sun Riviera Hotel and went in. My husband explained the situation and they were very solicitous, providing help and telling us we were welcome to sit the air-conditioned lobby until I felt better. Their kindness made an impact; we were not, after all, guests. So when we had an opportunity to spend a long weekend in Cannes, we booked a superior room at the hotel. We had a lovely few days. The hotel is in a good position, two blocks from La Croisette and the sea and on a shopping street that has marvellous shops and displays. For anyone like me with mobility issues, there is a useful little bus, the Palm Bus, that stops virtually outside the hotel (look for the blue post on the pavement). For 75 cents you get a day card and can hop on and off at a lot of useful stops. The bus runs about every 20 minutes and was a bonus. The hotel is decorated in traditional classic French style, the entrance hall is still cool and we found the staff helpful and well-informed. The bed was so comfortable and we slept well in a quiet room, which was clean and well-maintained if a little old-fashioned in decoration. Our chambermaid was efficient and sweet; carefully listening to our requests in broken French before replying in near perfect English! The air-conditioning was effective and very quiet (the temperatures every day were in the mid-30s). Breakfast was taken on the terrace and the food was fresh and delicious and the staff attentive. There were only two things we would have changed; we think our room terrace could have done with a sun-shade and I would have liked handrails in the bathroom. The shower is above the bath rather than a stand-alone unit and other than one handle on the side of the bath, there was nothing to hold on to, which I found difficult. The pool is very small and there are only 6 or 8 chairs in the garden but most people don't go to the hotel for these features, they were a bonus. I have a feeling the underground garage, pool and garden give the hotel its 4th star. I would have described it as a good 3 star hotel.
