Mercure Cannes Mandelieu4.0 out of 5.0

At first: yes, this hotel is really situated in industrial area between Cannes La Bocca and Mandelieu, but it is waste-free satellite production, so no fumes or something like that. The hotel territory is green, clean and well-kept. The outside patio near the pool is absolutely lovely (very nice to have you breakfast). And the beach is only 5-7 minutes of unhurried walking. Of course the best is to rent a car and do not sit in the hotel in the evenings, the parking is free and there are a lot of places around waiting to be explored. The second: airport is really just around the corner, but is does not work at night, so you can sleep well. Double bed in family room (not twin) is huge, additional pillows provided, so I slept very well. Breakfast is tasty and rich, wifi also works good. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. Room a little bit dated, but as for me, it is not so critical. My only wish is to get in the room something for drying because there is no place to dry for example towels/swimsuites after beach. I am absolutely satisfied with my stay, I got what I want with a nice price. Normal hotel with good breakfast and wifi and the beach nearby. Thank you!
The hotel check was fast and friendly Don't expect an Iron to be available as there seemed to be only a handful available within the hotel. I managed to get hold of one briefly on day 2 before it was taken from my room during breakfast, not ideal ! The worst part of the stay was finding no water one afternoon, I was working during the day and had returned for a quick shower to freshen up for the evening. Sadly the hotel had no water - for apparently 3 hours? If I could have had notice on this maintenance I obviously would have made alternative plans. They did offer me a complimentary bottle of water, not really much help with a much needed shower ! The overall cleanliness of the room was a little poor - not nice finding other peoples hairs on toilet / bath etc.
We stayed in this hotel with group of Estonian sommeliers during the business trip in May 2017. Main reason to chosse this hotel was the surprisingly good price offer, what I found in Booking.com. It was Cannes Cinema Festival and Monaco F-1 GP week and it was nightmare to find accommodation in this are by adequate price for our group. Location was'nt the best - in suburb and nearby Cannes-Mandelieu airport. It was 10 minutes of driving to Cannes. Welcome in reception was friendly, but all the process - check in for 15 person has took about half of hour. It was needed to collect ID cards for each person to make copies, than the fulfilling of papers etc etc. Receptionist explained, that all this process is needed for security reason. Ok, I understand, but I was made all this work, when I made booking. I was gave all names, data etc and normally in modern hotels, you can find pre-fulfilled registration papers and put passport number and signature to this and all is rapid and comfortable. Not there... Our room was located in side-building on the 1st floor. Elevator was far away and we carried ur suitcases up the stairs. Door was opened to outside corridor, lock was old-fashioned, with metal key and doesn't worked properly. It was needed use the force, to turn the key. Room was rather tired and needs refurbishment. Ok all was cleaned. We had room with large double bed and smaller bed and equipped with flatścreen TV-set, tea and coffee set and fridge. Air conditioner worked, but made huge noise. Bathroom was also tired. Shower corner was old and moldy in corners. Toilet was separate, but small and uncomfortable. Sleeping quality was ok, but at the morning the jets and helicopters started their activity from airport and it was noisy. On the second morning it was disturbing, when at 7 AM group of chinese people organised the morning gymnastic procedure for all group on the opposite balcony and their "instructor" was shared the orders with very heavy vocals. Breakfast was more or less ok, but we waited bit more from 18,90€ extra cost for person. We don't have lunch or dinner in restaurant, because of I can't comment the quality of restaurant. Small swimming pool and some sunbeds was good. It was very warm weather and refreshment in pool was helpful. Free of charge parking is available, free Wifi in room works properly.
I was exited and looking forward to stay in the hotel, unfortunately it had disappointed in a big way. The door lock was very unsafe looking, seemed that someone forced the entry before. Just a small suggestion - who still use old type keys with the keyring with the room number on it? My room was located in the "side" building with concrete-floor corridor outside of the building and window was facing this corridor, so no privacy at all as curtains had to be closed at all the time or other guests could take a look inside. One night was raining so I have opened the doors straight to the rain pool outside of my room. Room was smelly, with stains on the carpet and very loud, dust-producing old type conditioning system which didn't make big difference apart of the noise. It was great that kettle was provided along with nice selection of teas, but there were no mugs, just paper cups. I was not expecting Mercure logo teacups and saucers, but paper cup? Bathroom was dated with cracks all over the tiles. There were two sinks, separate shower, bath and even separated toilet-room (the saddest tiny unwelcoming space I ever seen). Unfortunately bath had this old-unwashed look, however I am sure it was cleaned daily to a high standard like the rest of the room. To make long story short reception, housekeeping and restaurant staff were polite and hard working, but their efforts need to be emphasised by simple refurbishment of the rooms!
The reception is very friendly, the rest is not very good. The restaurant is poor and the pool area is very noisy, if you are happy to hear helicopters and planes, well this is your place, otherwise is very uncomfortable to be around the pool. The sea is about 10 min walk, but is not the best spot to hang out. The rooms are clean quiet, therefore I give them 2 points. This is not a vacation resort, but more like a business hotel in the center of an industrial area.
Based on Accor website and pictures we booked for a week end stay. Mistake ! What is does not say is that the hotel is located in an industrial estate, terrace on the airport (diner disturbed every 10'by a chopper taking off and rooms worst than an IBIS hotel (old smelly carpet, old even some broken and mismatched furniture)........ A shame. Only the reception staff was friendly and helpful, though not empowered to take any action without the Head present. We left after one night thought we had paid 3 nights !!!!
Secure parking was a must that was there it looked promising from the reception the bar, dining area and lounge looked good but the bedroom was a mess it was more what you might expect in a ibis budget than a Mercure. The biggest plus were the staff couldn't be more accomadating if they tried. Airport next door wasn't buzzing with flights so don't let that put you off.
Service and accommodations as usual in a Mercure Hotel. The restaurant offers good lunch and dinner options at a good price. Besides far from Cannes, the hotel has free parking. It is located near the beaches, what is a plus.
This hotel seemed isolated from Cannes at first but on walking out, my room mate and I found some good restaurants serving reasonably priced food. I know the beach was very close by but the 2 days our tour group stayed there m, the weather was a bit too cold. I read reviews by others and just wanted to put my experience in. Rooms were clean, including toilets. Only complaint I had was with the power points. But this may be because my roommate and I were using overseas adaptors; our phones din't get charged despite having plugged them in. In a panic, we called the reception and a lovely young lady responded, asked pertinent questions, then came to our room with local iPhone chargers. She was courteous, friendly and accommodating. The tour group and I were also happy with the breakfast provided the 2 days we were there. We knew from most hotels we had stayed around Europe - Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Amsterdam, Lyons, etc. that rooms were smaller and compact. So long as they are clean and tidy and service was reasonably good, there wasn't necessity to complain. I really don't expect much when I leave my home. If I did, I would be carrying my mattress, pillow, etc with me. (-;
This hotel is only convenient if you are visiting one of the nearby companies. Otherwise, you will need to drive if you want to visit either Cannes or Mandelieu. There are no shops or restaurants nearby and it is located inside an industrial area. Futhermore, the price is ridicously high for the quality offered. The times I have stayed at this hotel I always got a room on a patio area, which has several problems: 1) The room is directly exposed to the external weather and although you can set the temperature on the control, I have never been able to get the heating to work. The room is often cold. 2) The room is not well insulated against noise. People walking on the corridors with wheeled bags will wake you up. Even heavy rain wouldn't let me sleep. Last time I stayed even tap water wouldn't work at night. In conclusion I would advice to avoid this hotel. Pros: TV with plenty of channels Cons: General hotel services and condition for a 4-star, location (in an industrial area), heating never works, poor noise insulation, 5-star hotel price
