This was our favourite hotel during our recent trip to PDC/Tulum/Isla Mujeres. We had requested a room with a balcony facing Hidalgo so we could watch the action below, and that is exactly what we got. Jesus at the reception was very friendly, professional and had a great sense of humour! When I pointed out how impressed I was with the fact that they separate their waste and recyclables, he asked if we were from Canada, by any chance :) We stayed in room # 100 which had a queen bed on the main level and a full bed in the loft area suitable for children as the ceiling there was low. No issue for us since it was just my husband and I. We took THE BEST hot showers in this hotel! Anyone who stayed in budget Mexican hotels knows that hot water and good water pressure are not always guaranteed but our room at Bucaneros came with a rainfall shower head in a very spacious shower stall and the water was always piping hot. After spending four nights in a very expensive "eco friendly" room in Tulum with no hot water, this was heaven. I never wanted to leave the shower :) Having the balcony was great for people watching. On our last night, there was a mariachi band playing for a large group of Mexican guests right below us for at least an hour. Both the musicians and the guests were really into it. What a great show! The free continental breakfast was a nice light start to the day and the freshly cut plate of fruit a nice touch. Free water was also available in the hallway right outside our room in a large jug with a spout. Much more eco-friendly than having to constantly buy bottled water, and it saved us a few pesos. The hotel is strictly non-smoking, another feature we loved. We would absolutely stay at Bucaneros again!

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in 2 different rooms because the bigger one was just free for 3 nights. Both of the accommodations were cozy, clean and we really felt like home there. The furniture and the decoration are made with love and the staff is very friendly. The location is great - in between lots of restaurants, shops and a 3 minutes walk away from 2 of the beaches of Isla Mujeres. It's also just a 5 minutes walk away from the ferry terminal, what is great when you arrive with a lot of luggage. The breakfast was delicious, a lot of healthy and organic stuff and for the ones who like it sweet, there is a great variety of cakes, muffins and donuts :) We loved our stay here and enjoyed every minute :)

Really really like this hotel. It isn't anything fancy but it's quite comfortable and homey, which was all we needed for our trip. It was the last leg of our Rivera Maya trip and I'm glad we picked this place. Walking by, you might even pass it, we did...several times. It blended in with the rest of the action blur of Hidalgo. Compadres is right downstairs from the hotel for a quick bite to eat. We were able to check in early into our room and received a free upgrade to a room with a kitchnette and Queen Sized bed vs the standard double room, which was a nice surprise. I had fun playing with the Yorkie dog that's in the hotel as well! Wifi was spotty...other than that, I'd totally recommend this hotel!

My husband and I are not ones for large resorts so if you are looking for a resort review you won't find it here. Now for Hotel Bucaneros - after staying for 4 nights of our 5 night stay here, we are extremely pleased with our digs. The room is large, appears new, is clean, and has basic kitchen/cooking facilities with a microwave, electric skillet, frig. and coffee pot. We have used the coffee pot and frig. only. We are staying in room 302 which overlooks the street and has a balcony. It is quiet at night. The hotel staff has been attentive and the free breakfast of pastries, fruit, cereal, and yogurt is a perfect way to start the day. The beach is a short walk away. I definitely recommend Hotel Bucaneros if you are ok being away from the resort atmosphere.

I am giving it 5 stars because it is exactly as advertised and because there is nothing to take off stars for! The hotel staff is very very nice, patient and helpful. The common areas are beautiful, there are beach towels and spring water provided (large bottle dispensers - you need a bottle or a cup) and the place is impeccably clean. The beds are comfortable and we felt very safe. The location cannot be any better: it is in the middle of everything (beaches, golf card rentals, boardwalk and even the supermarket). The air con works perfectly. We rented the golf cart at Ciros (sp?) and were happy with the choice. A vegan place across the street makes delicious smoothies and fresh juices and bowls. Short walk to the ferry. The continental breakfast was more than adequate: fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee, baked goods, cereal etc. Very convenient to start the day. For people who want to stay in the "downtown" it's a great choice! Good memories and not one bad word to say.

We arrived in Isla Mujeres on a Saturday with no reservations. My husband had seen good reviews for Bucaneros, so we decided to give it a try. It was an easy walk from the ferry, even with our luggage and 2 toddlers in strollers. The gentleman at the front desk (Jesus?) was very polite and patient as we asked a few too many questions about the available rooms and rates. We ended up getting a room with 2 queens for hubby, myself, daughter, and grand-daughter. It would be just for the weekend, after all. My other daughter, her husband, and 2-yr-old took another room with a queen and a twin. Both rooms came with continental breakfast. Self serve coffee, pastries, toast, and upon request you could get fresh fruit and yogurt. and service with a smile. We spent 2 good nights. the beds were very comfortable. the rooms were spacious and so clean. and although our room faced Hidalgo Street, there was no excessive noise. But in my opinion the best things at Bucaneros were the amazing AC and the superb service. I would definitely recommend this hotel for price, cleanliness, service, and walking distance to everything.

We arrived for one night in Isla Mujeres. We found the hotel through booking and our travel agency did not even know the hotel but said its location was excellent and we relied on it. The hotel is really in an excellent location, clean and tidy and the rooms look exactly like in the pictures. A minute's walk from the Chabad House, all the shops and a two minute walk from the ferry. I will certainly recommend it to people who are not looking for a luxury hotel but still want to sleep comfortably.

It has an excellent location on the main street of Isla Mujeres and two minutes from the ferry. There is hot water, a hairdryer and a total of clean and very nice rooms. Breakfast was reasonable, there was not much selection. Bread, jam and peanut butter, fruit, cereals and coffee. For the safe you have to deposit 500 pesos at the reception and at the end of the stay you get the money back.

A budget hotel in the middle of "the town". Pretty small rooms, outdated and old fashioned, clean though. The breakfast included is VERY basic, do not expect eggs. Next stay in Isla Mujeres we will defenitely stay closer to the beach.

The room as described, clean and nice. The location as described as well, which means hat it is very close to the beach and all the attractions but is on the main street, so it is normal that is noisy especially at night. Jesus from the staff speaks English and the staff is simpatic.
