My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary on Isla. We were pleasantly surprised by Playa La Media Luna. The resort is tucked away in a quiet area and was clean, cozy, and had amazing views from the pool area. The location is great, walking distance from North Beach and all the shops and restaurants in the downtown area. The staff was nice, our room was large, updated, and spacious. There is not a bar, however the bartender from Hotel Secreto will come over and check on you by the pool. You can order drinks and snacks from him. Very nice man. Overall, we had an amazing time on Isla and we were impressed with the accomodations.

This hotel is gorgeous & set off by itself with a private pool that views your private ocean front. It is a little rocky to go in the ocean at this spot, but the view & privacy can not be beat!

Hotel was clean and comfortable and my room had a door that led to the pool. Very nice location. Easy to get to around.

This hotel is clean, but it needs to be updated dramatically. The beds and bedding look to be about 15 years old and the rooms are slightly better than those I have stayed at in a hostel. The outdoor pool area was very pretty and honestly if they remodeled, this could be a great place. But, I would only rank it a 2 right now. It was simply a bed to sleep in, it did the job, but nothing more. I honestly would pay a little more and stay at a nicer place next time.

IT WAS GREAT...... BUT ONE THING THEY SHOULD HAVE A RESTAURANT AND THE BREAKFAST SHOULD AT LEAST HAVE SOME SCRAMBLE EGGS, NATURAL ORANGE JUICE, IS AN ISLAND.... THEY SHOULD HAVE A LOT OF GREAT JUICY FRUITS... BUT ASIDE FROM THAT... AMAZING.... MY GOD THE VIEW THE POOL, THE BEACH... WOW I WILL GO AGAIN FOR SURE.. =)

This 18 room hotel was perfect for our 6 room family vacation. Comfy beds, beautiful views from our terraces and balconies. A pool right out the door, views of crashing waves, sand beach, rocks... Very convenient to a variety of excellent restaurants and shops. We wished there was a food outlet onsite, and we wished the snorkeling was right outside our door, but this is a wonderful island to visit. Great snorkeling is an interesting cab ride away. The island feels safe, the folks are friendly, not pushy. It is unique in our Mexico visits. No cruise ships! We loved the place and the hotel. We would definitely return.

2nd time to Isla, loved location,,,we had rain in the beginning of our stay but beautiful views with a hammock on our deck. Very continental breakfast though it worked, fridge in room, microwave to share in breakfast room (fresh water there also). Free wi-fi in lobby only. Rented a golf cart after rain stopped, love Zama on other side of Island,,,beautiful pools and great staff!

This was a jewel. It was right on the ocean but very quiet and peaceful. The staff was really pleasant and professional. The massage was great, short walk to the main area, lot of fun places. Cathy Manning

The room was old, couldn't adjust the color on the TV so we had to watch a yellow TV all week. The floors were so dirty we has to wash our feet before going to bed every night. The fridge made an annoying noise about every hour so we didn't get much sleep the 1st few days, think we finally got used to it by the end of the week. The reviews raved about the beds being comfy; what a joke they were hard and lumpy. The only thing good about this Hotel is the view. Our previous trip we stayed at the Privilege Aluxes and it was gorgeous, very clean, nice TV and no weird noises from the fridge, guess where we will be staying when we return?????? We do love Isla Mujeres.

We had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Playa de la Media Luna. We were looking right out on a small secluded beach and fell asleep each night to the crashing of the waves. The room was clean and comfortable, although the shower never got warmer than tepid. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect as it is just a short walk from all the main beaches and the downtown. We definitely intend to revisit.

My girlfriend and i just stayed at Media Luna and were wholly impressed. We stayed in room 2. Room 2 was a ground floor 2 double beds room. We open up our patio door and have a personal hammock. 20 feet farther is a pristine pool overlooking the waves crashing from the Caribbean. Normally when we are on Isla Mujeres we wake up and leave the hotel and head to North Beach (Chi Chi Charlies). Not this time. We will go to Hotel Playa Media Luna again!!!!

Oh, wow what can we say, except this little hotel was wonderful. We arrived on March 27th and stayed 7 nights. We were surprised that it looked better on site than in the pics. The view is gorgeous and you can sleep with the windows open and listen to the ocean waves all the time. The place only has 20 rooms and they are all ocean view. We had a ground level floor with a very comfortable King Bed, Room #10. Very romantic, nice big walk-in tiled shower. It had a patio with hammock and chairs and was a perfect view of the pool and ocean. We loved the convenience of having a fridge, so that we could come to our room for drinks. The beach in front of the pool area is lovely and small, but you can walk a path to the north beach with no problem. Or you can walk to the south and walk the malecon. The room was cleaned every day and we had plenty of towels. The free continental breakfast is good too. Fruit, toast, donuts, or rolls and coffee and tea. We definitely will stay here again, because it was so relaxing and not crowded and felt very private.

Best of all worlds! Great view if you like to watch the waves roll in. Quite, uncrowded location if you want to be left alone. Perfect if you like to go for long walks along the beach in either direction. Close to North Beach if you like the crowded beach scene. Easy walk to "restaurant row" for dining. Comfortable beds. Nice pool. What more could you ask for. We'll be back!

Our second time at Hotel Playa La Media Luna. Our first stay in 2005 included the typical brick-hard Mexican hotel bed. I expect the same, but was I surprised! Both beds in my standard room had memory foam mattress toppers under the sheets. Nice touch!!! Location is still great, fridge in room is nice. Hotel was full, but it didn't feel like it.

We really like this hotel and couldn't wait for this visit. Unfortunately they had begun preparing for Hurricane Rina and had deck chairs stored. On October 25 we were told that the hotel had to close as the storm was approaching and they had no idea how bad it would be. They helped guests make arrangements to leave the island for other hotels or airline changes. They let guests use their phones and computers which was a great help to many. We chose to stay on the island and they called ahead for a room for us. They also advised us on buying water and nonperishable food for 4 days incase the island lost water and power. We moved to another hotel and were pleased with our two nights there. We can't wait for our next trip to Isla Mujeres and will definately stay at Hotel Media la Luna. The perfect place: peaceful, beautiful views, clean rooms, grounds and the staff couldn't be nicer.

Highly recommended! This was our fourth trip to Isla Mujeres, but our first stay at the Hotel La Playa Media Luna. We stayed with our girls (4 and 7) in a standard room with 2 doubles. The views from the hotel balcony were quite simply stunning and the pool area is wonderfully open and airy, with more great views of the sea. The easterly winds off the Caribbean are strong enough here that despite very warm weather 81f/27c we only used air conditioning once. Being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves of the ocean was execellent. The hotel staff are very professional and pleasant and the hotel rate includes great extras like daily continental breakfast and plush beach towels. The hotel is located a few short blocks walk fro Ave Hidalgo and the main waterfront at Ave Rue Medina where most restaurants are. Also there is easy acces to the beach from the pool area (although the beach off the hotel is not great for swiming)' and so wonderful walks can be had along Playa Secreto and Playa Norte or in the other direction along the Malecon to the town square.

This hotel has so much going for it. Absolutely charming place. No cookie cutter hotel here. Wonderful details like balconies with hammocks, large and comfortable sun loungers, and a semi-private beach. Only 18 rooms, so not a party type atmosphere, but oh so relaxing. Only one downfall is that there is not a restaurant or bar on site. There is a deck with a bar area but it was never staffed while we were there. There is a continental breakfast area during morning, but wasn't well stocked (more fruit and bread choices would be nice)
