Dealt with terrible customer service. DO NOT BOOK HERE. I previously stayed at the hotel and the rooms were alright. Weird layout but it was nice to have a kitchen. I needed to cancel a trip due to severe snow fall and it would be dangerous to make the drive and they refused to return my money. there are so many other hotels with AMAZING customer service. This will be the LAST time I come here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO STAY HERE
Nuvo is a converted apartment block. Likely built in the 60's it is updated, but not modern. Classic 3 story walk up. Non-descript it is somewhat difficult to see, and has very little space for parking out front to check in. The parking garage is 1 blk away, the wrong way down a one way street. The room itself was a converted studio apartment complete with fridge, stove, coffee maker and a good sized counter. Bed was a Murphy bed with a foam mattress and poly filled pillows. Okay, but not the most comfortable. It was quiet. The room was rather dry - winter and electric heat. Staff was pleasant and efficient. This is well situated to downtown, but at a good price. Certainly walkable to the towers. For the price, not a bad stay considering the parking. If you travel by cab/Uber, it improves. Breakfast is available but I left early.
Almost back-yard entrance. Tiny reception. 70's colors and decor. Bleak hallway. But good value for money: Very big and clean room, friendly and helpful service. No restaurant or amenities, but o.k. self-service breakfast. All-day free coffee and water. Very centrally located, 5 minute walk to tram - or easy walk to city centre. I would not mind staying there again.
So, I don’t mind a basic motel or place to stay but I do have an issue with cleanliness. I can say that my room was not cleaned in between guests and included hair in the bed on the sheets and on the pillow case. Also my socks were black with visible dirt and dust over every surface. No refund, no discount and no help. Don’t stay here. There are so many other places in the area and cost around the same. Parking is also not on site and security is sketchy.
We were pleasantly surprised by these apartments. When we arrived quite late check-in process was smooth and we went into our room. It was a large apartment with two double beds on opposite sides of the room and a large bathroom and kitchen area. The hotel is in a good location in Calgary city and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We stayed five nights and it was quiet and included free breakfast which was a nice touch. We were impressed by the washing/drying facilities we were able to use free of charge even the washing powder and softener were free. Staff were lovely and helpful and let us use printing facilities also free of charge to print out tours etc.. Great place to stay and well-priced. Highly recommend.
It is just waste of money, misleading information by showing the beautiful pictures of the hotel on the website while the reality is completely different. Dirty place, very old stuff, poor customer services. I DON'T recommend Nuvo hotel at all, NEVER! One star is too much.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in! I travel for a living and this hotel is bar-none the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in. We chose it based on it's proximity to the Repsol center where my kids were competing in a swim meet. They tried to extort money out of us for "damages" claimed one of my kids wet the bed. They did not as the bed in question was shared by my son and I so pretty sure I would notice. When I confronted them by flipping over the mattress and finding multiple yellow stains on the other side but that was fine apparently. The entire hotel smelled dank and was filthy. It also got invaded by homeless people because they don't lock the front door and the front desk has zero visibility. Some random homeless guy was passed out in a room they left open for "cleaning" Brutal just brutal!
We had the pleasure of staying at the Nuvo Hotel Suites as we were in town to catch a Flames game. The staff were very helpful. We arrived well ahead of check in time due to an early flight. A person who I assume was the Owner/Manager was very helpful directed us to a place we could eat and then made sure our room was the first one cleaned so we could check in early. Room was very modern and well updated. Very clean. Had a very nice, comfortable bed. Had all the amenites for a short or long term stay. We did not partake in the breakfast but it was very close to several shops and resturants. Was a very cheap cab ride to the game. I would definitley stay here again when I return to Calgary.
Spent one night, just to pass to Banff national park. The room is large, and offers possibilities to cook something inside. The cons is that it is difficult to rest because of the noise that the fridge makes. The breakfast is quite simple.
This hotel is great for the location if you want to be within a 5-7 minute walk to restaurants and bars in Calgary. However, I was not informed of the parking fee until the day I checked out. After I checked out, the attendant said "by the way it's $10 for the parking." I was kind of shocked, but went ahead and paid it. Also, the breakfast is edible, but very underwhelming. Powdered scrambled eggs, canned beans, microwave sausage links, bananas, yogurt, cereal and instant oat meal. However, the room itself is spacious and very accommodating with your own kitchenette.
