I have to say the hotel was excellent value for the money the rooms were neat and tidy with all the mod cons breakfast was good and included in the price of 199 per night so shop around and compare with the hotel direct the beds were comfortable the pool was good and they did this strange brazillian theme night which kind f worked in a weird way you are two mins from the esplanade and two mins from the central district walking there are some great little restaurants around the area again within 3 to 4 mins walk and close to the shangri la for conferences but a lot cheaper all in all well done the management
Location of hotel central with limited water views. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Room was as clean as any I have been in. Breakfast was well prepared with a wide range of eating times. Dinner menu was limited if you don't like the themed dinner and I ate elsewhere. Would highly recommend this place to stay.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone that is looking for an excellent and central place to stay while in Cairns. Close to shopping and restaurants. A nice stroll to the water front with excellent restaurants
My partner and I were staying elsewhere and wanted to Stay an extra night in cairns but there was no availability so I jumped online and found the pacific with a room half the price and more central to the city..well I'm glad we did as our experience here was much more pleasurable. Room was nicer, it didn't smell like damp carpet as the other one did, check in and check out was so easy and quick which is what we all love! Highly reccommend this place 😍 Will definately be going back
Room 1002 was superb with expansive views out towards the harbour, over Fogarty park, up the Esplanade, the Hilton and around to the Pullman and south of the city. Room was a deluxe room and it didn't disappoint. Very large with modern furniture and bathroom. The TV was on the small side but that's OK. The room had a coffee/tea making facility with a pod machine which was nice. Location wise, the Pacific would be the best located in Cairns. Highly recommended and will be going back in two years time.
We requested the deluxe room with the ocean views. The room is very large, comfortable beds, nice bathroom. Supplied with a Nespresso machine but no pods supplied, a bit weird. Cleaning was an issue and was not cleaned one day of our 4 day stay. The big issue for us was the noise. Firstly there was the rd noise as the deluxe room are above a busy intersection so traffic noise very audible and even my partner who is a heavy sleeper would wake up. Secondly there was fitness class that was held across the rd at 6.30 am and the instructor used a loud speaker, it was like she was standing in the room! That went on on for an hr so sleep interrupted. Also had very noisy hotel guests in the next room shouting in the corridor at 4am. I did place a negative review on the hotel's website and to the hotel's credit I was contacted to see if they could resolve any issues. As we were leaving the next day, no point shifting rooms and plus all deluxe room would face the intersection and park. The management were very kind to send us champagne and a fruit platter as a way of an apology which was appreciated. All the other staff we encountered were also very friendly. I might consider returning to this hotel if you had another quieter room.
The taxi brought me from other accommodation in Cairns. Someone, without being asked, quickly came to help, carrying luggage up the stairs. The delightful, efficient Sanae attended to my check-in. It was mid-morning so no surprise the room wasn't ready. What happened next formed part of my overall impression of how this hotel ran effectively and efficiently. My luggage was to be kept near the check-in desk until the room was ready, but in the meantime I was introduced to Darrell. This hotel should definitely be pleased to have him on staff. Darrell told me about a lounge on the first floor accessible by guests/visitors and suggested I could wait there until a room was ready. I'd ascertained with some questioning that would be around an hour. Darrell showed me where the lifts were and escorted me to the lounge. In due course, he also came back to tell me my room was ready and my luggage was already in the room. This was exemplary service compared with the last place I'd stayed in Cairns. My room was on the 11th floor: my outlook the Bay and other hotels - the Hilton, Reef Casino, the Pullman, etc. The room was very comfortable indeed, well maintained and contained all I needed for the 3 days there. Right on The Esplanade, it is close to restaurants, shopping, etc. - an ideal location. It had a balcony with a couple of chairs and a table. Sanae had supplied with a 50% discount voucher for each day of my stay. I note from other reviews that seems to be standard. I was pleased to go to breakfast for $17.50 cost. The breakfast was expansive and anyone who has been to a 4 or 5 star hotel with be aware of the offerings here. I asked for poached eggs and was told those would cost $2 each but it was suggested I try the coddled eggs instead. Despite my travels, I had never encountered these. The chef explained there were much like poached eggs and told me where they were on the buffet. Apparently the black ramekin denoted hard yoke and the white ramekin soft. There were no white ramekins left. The chef advised me to go back to my seat and they would be delivered to my table - which they were. So much did I enjoy these, since coming home I have bought a few small ramekins to make them at home. For travellers used to hotel breakfasts, it will be realised that $17.50 is reasonable to pay. For a comparison, on the Monday before I flew out of Cairns and a little queasy, I decided I would go elsewhere for breakfast and simply have toast and a cup of black tea. The two pieces of toasted white bread and a cup of black tea cost $8.50. For all the offerings at the hotel breakfast - and their quality, one can easily see that the hotel was offering outstanding value. I was pleased to see that this hotel had a Maintenance Card on the door. Housekeeping runs to a time for each room and I never think they can see everything like someone who is in the room for a few days. I have the firm opinion that travellers who see maintenance issues, if they are reported, can save the business funds in dealing with them while they are small - similarly as we do at home. And so, I completed the card and handed it to reception for attention. There is a travel agency next door - not part of the Pacific Hotel. Here I booked a trip, which I will review later, allowing me to see part of the local area I hadn't visited before. I have been to Cairns a couple of times before when I spent time both driving around and being driven around and most of the popular tourist attractions I had seen before. As I do, I like to see destinations which are new to me. Again, this was a huge success. I wasn't forgotten. Darrell while doing his job, a couple of times during my stay, greeted me in a friendly manner - as did Sanae. The housekeeping team also were very pleasant. This all helps in the lasting feeling about the visit. I should also mention, that on day 1, Darrel also explained that there was an alternative entrance to the ground floor via a ramp - much easier for dragging a suitcase up that than climbing stairs! My idea in booking the Pacific Hotel was that after tripping around the Gulf for several days, experiencing unmade and often corrugated roads, I would enjoy a little luxury before returning home. The stay at the Pacific Hotel was a huge success and very beneficial to me. An excellent choice for my stay in Cairns.
This hotel has a superb location very close to Esplanade and the Reef fleet terminal where the Barrier Reef trips leave from as well as all the shops and restaurants and Lagoon pool. We had room on 11 th floor with a balcony overlooking the sea and part of the town (as the hotel is on a corner) which was spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast in the Bushfire restaurant was delicious. We didn't go to the restaurant in the evening as we preferred to explore the town but it looked good. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
We held a family reunion in four of your rooms - and had the good fortune of securing room 402, with its wraparound terrace, perfect for a few evening drinks. The staff was efficient and courteous, breakfast was top-notch (buffet style), and we came away with a feeling of luxury on a midrange budget. Also the location was very convenient and central - we had a couple ocean trips scheduled from the Reef Terminal a short walk away, and there's a good variety of restaurants nearby. Last but not least, Cairns is wonderful, wherever you're staying. We'll definitely be back.
The location of this hotel is nearly perfect for a trip to Cairns. Really easy access the esplanade area as well as the more upscale restaurants around the piers. The room was good with a good view of the area. I don't know if this is true of all rooms. An easy walk out the door to the esplanade with its amenities and also convenient to the piers and water sport areas. The only downside is that there really is no bar area other than a small area around the restaurant (for meat eaters only) and the breakfast buffet was over priced even at the discounted rate. I would stay there again because of the location but would always be looking to eat/drink at other locations.
