Holiday Inn Express Campo De Gibraltar - Barrios3.0 out of 5.0

I made my reservation from the United States not realizing that this hotel is located in an industrial manufacturing area, directly underneath coal stacks. The air was thick with visible soot. The staff was very kind and allowed us to cancel our reservation, however, guests should be aware that the area has heavy air pollution, which is visible from the rock of Gibraltar as thick brown smog. All of Gibraltar appears to have poor air quality, but staying at a hotel located so close to the source of the pollution is not my idea of a vacation. The hotel website should clearly identify their location as not ideal for persons with asthma or sensitive health.
Clean and airy rooms. No fridge in the rooms. Average sheets. Good shower. Average towels. Not very various and cold breakfast. Bad cofee. Very crowded restaurant. Free parking. Good for transit. Kind staff.
The same clean, modern design as you expect from Holiday Inn. Beds are very comfortable. The shower has terrific water pressure. Location is fairly central with easy access to Algeciras or Gibraltar. We had breakfast included with our room. It was a basic continental style breakfast with pastries, breads and cereals.
Fine for a night. Comfortable family room. Nice staff, bilingual. Hygiene below standard - hairballs on floor and empty soap dispensers in the bathroom. Free Wifi fast and reliable. Air Con in room worked well. Small carpark in front of hotel. Location easy to find, just off the highway. 20 mins to Gibraltar. Breakfast selection and quality was average.
The hotel was clean and comfy. I wouldn't say great, but it was ok. The surrounding areas around the hotel weren't so nice, kind of dirty. It seems like it was supposed to be a commercial zone, but there is only few stores like garden supplies, pet store and a little foodcourt. I would deffinately recommend if u need it just for sleep through, its just the surroundings that are not helping with better reviews.
We spent our second night "near" Gilbraltar (stayed the first night at AC Linea which is much closer to Gibraltar). Great place if you are going to Gibraltar and you have a car--otherwise might be a bit difficult. Had free parking and free breakfast Booked through Expedia. Good deal, quiet hotel on edge of shopping/light industry.. Room was clean and bright and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again if we come back to Spain--seems to be on the way to a lot of places--passed by it on two different but tours from Fuengirola so we figure this is a good location in central south Spain.
From the moment we walked in, we were treated as friends. The front desk personnel were warm, friendly and happy. They were engaging and helpful as well. The restaurant staff was also exceptional, friendly and warm. The rooms were very nice, though more lighting would be nice. The only negative we noted was that the main hall upon entry and the open dining area are basically one large joined room which is very loud. During dinner it was difficult to have a conversation. The dinner was surprisingly good for a hotel! The location in reference to Gibraltar is fine, but the actual neighborhood is cold and industrial.
Arrived in the afternoon, Friendly Check-In and clean Hotel. The Rooms are large and easily fitted 3 Adults. The Rooms are your average Holiday Inn Express style but was very well maintained. The Bathroom was clean and once again average for a Holiday Inn Express. The Breakfast was great with plenty of selection. The Ride from the Hotel to Gibraltar is easy!
My rating of very good is based on value. The rooms are clean & comfortable and would be quite roomy if you were not using the sofa bed. Breakfast was fairly basic but had a nice selection of pastries; it was a little chaotic after 0900. The location is great for visiting Gibraltar, the local area is not so great but there are a couple of places to eat dinner locally. The hotel restaurant is ok, the menu is not extensive but the service is fine & not expensive, we ordered pizza's which were nice. My only complaint is that the shower was cold, which was strange as i could get hot water from the tap in the sink. Overall, a clean hotel for 54 Euro a night for a family of 4 with breakfast and free parking & in room wifi is great value.
Stayed at this hotel with my wife for 2 nights, very clean tidy and comfortable, breakfast was very nice and plenty to chose form as well as tea and coffee ,but location was a bit out the way ,Staff were friendl and helpful
