good the hotel very good quality except that angelo person in charge of reception treated me badly I scream at night humiliating me in front of everyone in the middle of the night (3:20 am) because I had come with someone to the room, quietly requested explanations and he just shouted at me and insulted me saying I'm going to call the police for no reason. I asked to speak and I asked him for the regulation to see the lack he had committed, he just answered with a "I'm going to call the police" and he refused to talk to me. totally an irrespetuozo I can not believe that a hotel of such quality and recommendations offers such a low level service and of such great offenses
The hotel is very nice and has attentive service. I stayed in a superior room, renovated, spacious with an excellent bathroom (although the ceiling was a bit musty already). Good breakfast buffet. The Club across the street provides beach service, a restaurant and a kid's room. The beach is one of the best in Buzios. The hotel also provides free transportation to the center every night. Major down point though was the absence of wireless internet in the rooms. There's only free wifi in the reception area and in the club, but it doesn't work properly.
Our room had an excellent view on the sea, the hotel is like 3 minutes walk from the beach and offers you beach service for free and a good restaurant just in front of the hotel. The hotel is located about 30 minutes walk from the city center, but there are some nice restaurants around and a free shuttle is available every half hour 19.15 - 1am. Service was very kind (even if they really struggle speaking English), the place is pretty even if quite old, but: our room was not cleaned properly, there were small ants wondering around and the toilet smelled. Finally, the wifi was almost absent in the room and not great (even if acceptable) in the common areas. The complimentary breakfast offered a good range of foods, even if we didn't find them excellent. Overall I would recommend it for a short stay for its location, prettiness (it also has a small pool) and view, but I would also recommend to drastically improve the cleaning service.
Excellent location with amazing view deserves a better hotel. No elevators and a lot of steps to reach the room. Breakfast not good and no possibility to have a decent dinner. The shuttle to the city was inefficient and out of time. The beach club was acceptable and pleasant.
My family and I (inc. 3 small kids) stayed for 2 nights in July 2014. I made an online reservation few weeks before and corresponded with Paula, who is very helpful. The room is clean with a very beautiful view from the balcony. The amenities such as beach towels are very useful for us traveling with kids who always want to play in the water. The location is nice as the hotel has a club within walking distance with private beach to Joao Fernandes beach. The breakfast is simple but my kids like it, so I'm ok with it :-). The nice thing is that the hotel has a playroom besides the dining room, which is also a big help for family traveling with children (at least for us). Few suggestions which hopefully the hotel owner/mgmt could consider are to change the room key system with a newer one and to upgrade some fixtures such as door knob and window pane. The hotel has a shuttle service to the downtown every 30 minutes but we chose to order a taxi everytime we went to other beach or downtown which is faster.
If you want to spend time at Praia João Fernandes, La Plage is a good choice, with reservations. You'll stay there for the stunning view from your room, clean surroundings, the convenience and proximity to the beach, and the rare perk/perq of a nightly shuttle running every 30 minutes into town and back. If those things will make you happy, you're set. Anything beyond that, you must consider gravy. The streets are extremely steep, so other pousadas farther up the hill from the beach will test you; the steps up to your room for that awesome ocean view will be more than enough exercise for some. From the lobby, you walk across the street to the club and spa, where you'll find another pool, the restaurant and plenty of places and levels to dine inside or out, then a few more steps to the beach. Couldn't be more convenient. Towels, chairs and umbrellas await you at the beach, and food and drinks can be delivered to your spot in the sand. The beach has eroded over the years, so you'd be wise to settle in near the sea wall for when the surf encroaches. Still, João Fernandes remains one of the lovelier spots, still a favorite stop for schooners. The restaurant has a buffet lunch for 39 reais - unremarkable but satisfying. La Plage's free breakfast is less so - a minimal, uninspired selection for what you'd to expect of a Brasilian café da manhã. My room was clean, spacious and comfortable, but spartan and not well-maintained: lights that didn't work, A/C with little between frigid and off, joined twin beds with one bed firm and the other soft and lumpy. Wi-Fi in public areas was slow or non-existent. A big thanks to Paula, who works at the front desk and speaks English. When she was off, I was stuck with unanswered questions and requests. That said, everyone seemed to do their best to be helpful and accommodating. Why would I go back, and why should you consider it? The view from your balcony. The simple walk across the street to the beach and a midday meal. The evening shuttle. If I needed internet service, I'd choose another place. With more attention to details such as regular maintenance of the room's furnishings, a better and tastier breakfast spread, and investment in high-quality internet service, La Plage could be the hands-down winner, and it likely would command higher rates. Right now it seems to be coasting on its location and convenience; in the U.S., it would be on the low side of three stars. Pity, because it's a beautiful property that could be so much more.
I recently stayed at ville la plage. It rained for two days in buzios and my roof leaked heavily directly onto my bed. I made the manager aware of the issue they simply changed the linen on my bed and said they couldn't fix roof due to the rain. It leaked again and I had sleep on the floor. I have never experienced such appalling customer service.
Perfect localization, a few steps from one of Buzio's most beautiful beaches, with a nice club/restaurant in the sand. Very attentious service. The breakfast is ok, nothing special. The only flaws: a strong smell of humidity (mould) in the bathroom and one night when we asked for room service because it was raining, they said they couldn't deliver - because it was raining (the restaurant is outside the hotel).
Room was nice and clean but beware because of all the trees etc its full of Mosquitos .Take a spray and blast ! great views and relaxing. The breakfast was nice and fresh with many delights on show. No ketchup though! Pool area has big soft beds with lots of cushions ! Fell asleep there more than once. Foyer nice and clean and one guy in particular (has the Uruguayan wife so I could speak in Spanish although his English was not bad)was really great. Has a bus down the road which btw is a very steep hill indeed which takes you into the centro FREE every evening from 7pm. Last bus back is 1pm and they are air con and stop all along the way from the same place. They run a beach bar and was nice food and not to expensive. Really enjoyed my week there. Would go back
We enjoyed our stay at Ville La Plage. The rooms were beautiful. The service was very good. Even though most people could not speak very much English, they tried very hard to communicate with us. The hotel even made a cake for my daughter's birthday. The upper pool was heated and the lower pool was not. The beach area was very nice. There is a bus that picks up right at the hotel that takes you into the town at night but it is a short walk during the day. The breakfast was good each morning. The internet was very difficult. It did not work many evenings. This is not really a huge deal for us as we were trying to get away from it all. The hotel restaurant buffet was just ok. We had much better dinners in the town at some of the restaurants there.
