Welcome to Pod Hollow — Suffolk's one-of-a-kind hobbit-style underground retreat.

Built into the side of a grassy knoll, with a round wooden door, circular windows and a wildflower meadow growing on the roof, Pod Hollow looks like it's been lifted straight from the pages of a storybook. Step inside and it only gets better: curved walls, wooden beams, a real fireplace, and the kind of snug, tucked-away warmth that only a house wrapped in earth can offer.

Don't let the fairytale looks fool you — this is a proper home. Pod Hollow sleeps up to five: two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and a premium Eve mattress, plus a single sofa bed in the sitting room. Sleeps up to 5 guests! There's a fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven, fridge and microwave, an en-suite shower room, and a 55-inch 4K OLED TV — fitted especially for guests who like to end a woodland walk with a movie marathon of the films that inspired places like this.

Outside, you have your own patch of private woodland. Hire one of our smokeless fire pits for an evening of toasted marshmallows under some of the darkest skies in England — perfect for stargazing. Dogs are very welcome too.

You're five minutes from the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, four miles from the restaurants and abbey ruins of Bury St Edmunds, and just 90 minutes from London — making Pod Hollow the closest stay of its kind to the capital.
