My wife and I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago at the start of our honeymoon and remember the place very fondly. It was a truly lovely boutique hotel. To say that it has gone downhill is an understatement. The hotel is feeling very very tired and poorly looked after. I’ve never once stayed at a hotel and had the toilet paper run out. The whole place smelt badly of fried food and the service was perfunctory at best. We will never go back.

Stayed recently with friends.Great location, good breakfast, welcoming communal areas - these are the positives.Car park is a good five minute walk from the hotel. No problem but could be if it's raining.Car parking available on the road but Burford is extremely busy during the day. Sorry to say that our bedroom and bathroom ,although very spacious, were tatty and dirty. Stained carpets, covered with cheap rugs, old broken Roman blinds on all windows. The blinds and windows were dusty. The room and decor was tired and in desperate need of a re vamp.Customer service was a mixed bag. Attitude of some staff members was indifferent or,at times, rude. Perhaps all staff would benefit from further training re customer relationships. We returned to the hotel at 3.30p.m on the Saturday afternoon and our bedroom door was wide open, the bed had been made but bedroom and bathroom not cleaned!! When we went to ask the staff for an explanation they were not really that bothered,no apology and just said there had been a mix up. How can this be when there are only 6 bedrooms at the hotel? Another guest also complained that her room had not been serviced. We had to ask for a bottle of wine as a gesture for such an inconvenience. We were not informed on arrival that the checking out time was 10.30,no information in the bedroom regarding this. But we were rudely interrupted by a young girl, and told at 10 in the morning,(we were all called guys) that we had to be out by 10.30.This young lady watched my 78 year old friend, carry her bags from the bedroom, down a steep flight of stairs to the reception area and did not offer any help! We would never recommend this place to anyone. This hotel is not cheap. We didn't mind paying the £360 for two nights B and B but this is not value for money. Very disappointed as we had been looking forward to this weekend break for a long time. We will definitely not be returning to this establishment.

Informed none of their rooms can accommodate either a cot or extra bed, this despite them advertising as being welcoming to children (how?). Took 2 emails, 2 forms sent on website, multiple days and they never bothered responding to any of the messages - finally I called them, got a 'busy' sounding guy answered who couldn't have been less interested - just said "No", and didn't attempt to help at all, or offer alternative suggestions. No doubt an amazing property - but either be 'adults only' or provide relevant options for kids, you can't straddle both.

Called in for quick a lunch. Ciabatta sandwiches rather stodgy with mean fillings. Service moderate. For Lunch, we suggest that you cross the road to the excellent Huffkins. Much better food and slick cheerful service in pleasant surroundings. Products from their own bakery.

Comfortable room with two-poster bed. Breakfast very nice which filled is up for the day. Pleasant staff. Pricey for what you got, but seems part for the course in this area. All in all, a very nice stay.

We stayed for 3 nights. The room is ok, but I would expect a bit more compared to the price payed. Maybe this is normal for the cotswald? The hotel is situated on the mainstreet, which is always busy.

After a disappointing stay just outside Burford, this was a great choice. Good location with shops and restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. Will use again if visiting this way in future.

Just returned from a 2 night stay in this fab hotel. right in the centre of Burford. Stayed in a lovely quirky room at the top . Lots of space and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was lovey and the staff were very friendly and welcoming . Yes there is some traffic noise but expect that as it’s on a very busy high st . It didn’t bother us . We attended a family wedding nearby and the staff gave us advice regarding Taxi’s. We ate there on thurs with family and the food was lovely in a nice relaxed environment .We would definitely stay again if visiting the area .We had drinks in the courtyard which was lovely as for once the sun was shining! Thank you for a very pleasant stay .

Great spot in the middle of this beautiful town in the Cotswold. We could not fault this place spent 2 nights there over a long weekend recently. The breakfast was great, all staff were very friendly and great bedrooms, nice and big. You need a room at the back of the hotel as we had a front room and very noisey with traffic most of the night.

We were very comfortable at this lovely old hotel. The room was comfortable and spacious. The bed was very firm. Two pillows were very flat. Servicing of the room could have been better. Bins not emptied one night. Breakfast is ok but nothing to write home about. Generous serves of Bacon & Eggs but fruit before that which was self serve was not replenished. This place is advertising for staff and it was obvious that they were s few short. The place needs just a bit of tightening up to be very good. We enjoyed our stay.
