Stayed here last Friday and won't be returning. Good points - fast check in and friendly staff Bad points: standard size 4'6" double bed bathroom dated poor pressure in shower Really bad: The breakfast was perhaps the worst I've had in this type of hotel. Cheap, poor ingredients. Sugar loaded. Just horrible and not edible. The staff couldn't keep up with keeping the dining room tables clean and we weren't surprised about the amount of food being thrown away. If only IHG increased the breakfast spend by a very small amount the food might be edible.
The hotel room was clean but a bit small. Staff was helpful and nice. It’s also good to have a retail park just opposite the road with restaurants, supermarket and shops. Breakfast was ok, not many choices. Overall was good.
Me and my family stayed here the night before our holiday and had a great night here , check in , rooms , staff all absolutely brilliant and so friendly.... no robotic like other chains ... another great stay at a HIE ... thanks guys
I have stayed at this hotel several times and have always found it very good. Rooms are not luxurious but are nicely appointed, clean, quiet and with a comfortable bed. WiFi is free and quite quick. Breakfast is provided but there is no restaurant open in the evening, although there are various restaurants and a pub nearby. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Bristol Parkway mainline station is a 20 minute walk and Filton Abbey Wood station is also close by, which has a local train service to the city centre. Overall a good option in this part of Bristol.
Once you can find the enterance off the street to this hotel, (which we didnt find easy) you will find the hotel is very good value for money. The room was very clean and well equipped. Breakfast is included and is excellent. Staff here are friendly and helpful. The one problem we had was the fire alarm. It went off about 1am. It only went for a short time and by the time we had thrown on some clothes and got out of the room it had stopped. However, no staff came to tell us if it was a false alarm or not. It would have been obvious if the alarm had kept going but because it had stopped we didnt know if we should go back to bed or vacate the hotel. The hotel staff obviously know that it is not a problem but they need to come to each floor to inform thier guests. Sometime during the night there was a note put under the door of our room explaining that it was a false alarm, but thats a bit too late I think. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel.
Really enjoyed my stay here. Ataff were really friendly and helpful in directing me to food places and the shops - which were all within qalking distance unless you are lazy like me and drove anyway. As it was just me I was expecting a small room with a single bed ( which I was fine with) however, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of my room and the double which awaited me (Starfish!). Rooms were very cleans and the bed very comfortable. Shower was also amazing. The only problem I had was 2 of the plug sockets didn't work so meant I had to keep switching to charge laptop, phone etc - so not sure if this is worth looking into (Room 203) Overall, a wonderful stay :-)
Staff were all very friendly and helpful but would like to exspecially say that laura who was the manager on shift was extremly helpful we experienced some issues with aircon in room and even though i believe it was not her place to help she did and delivered excellent service. She was extremly helpful i would return due to her.
My wife recently made a booking with booking.com with this hotel for a conference on the weekend of the 19th May 2018. We then because of the importance of the conference paid up front. Since doing so and a week before we have experienced a loss in the family and we therefore contacted booking.com and requested a cancellation. We were told that because we had paid in advance that we would have to contact Holiday Inn Express Bristol North directly. This we did and in the first instance we were told we would have to speak to management. After much chasing around I got hold of a team member and I explained the situation and that I was happy to pay a cancellation fee and admin charge however could I please receive a refund. I was told categorically that this was not possible and I could only change the date. We live in North Nottinghamshire, and the chances of us getting down to Bristol are slim. However I made the suggestion that we would come down on my wife's birthday on the weekend of the 22nd of September 2018 as this is the first time with work and family commitments we would be free. I was then told that there would be an additional seasonal charge to make up the difference. This would mean that the same room would cost nearly twice as much as we had already paid. I once again asked for a refund minus an administration fee. Again I was told this wouldn't be happening! In a difficult time to be faced with such inflexibility and to be palmed off with an answer of this is just how it is and it's company policy is just not acceptable. In a modern world of internet and rapid bank transfers there is no excuse for this kind of behaviour and even if it is in legal small print, it certainly isn't ethical. I was happy to pay bank fees and an admin charge and this was stressed at the time. Numerous phone calls have left us angry and distressed at a time when we certainly didn't need it. My company set up an account with Holiday Inn Express South East (Erith) and we have spent nearly 10k in the last 6 months alone. I will be making sure that we move our custom else where after this experience. I have never experience such a poor response and service. I expected a little more flexibility of such a respected brand. I would ask Holiday Inn to remember that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. I look forward to a response from Holiday Inn Express (although I don't expect one) and I hope they review there policy so that this doesn't happen to anyone else again. I know that we are all busy and time is money but a little thought and respect costs nothing. Mark and Christine Dickinson
