It is everything you expect from a HIE, friendly welcome, clean comfortable rooms and great hotel facilities. The location makes it an ideal base for both business and leisure, and having stayed at the main HI in the city, I did prefer here.Work is likely going to bring me back to the area so will be staying again.Nice little pub close by, give it a try.
Having read some of the previous bad reviews i find it quite pathetic that people book this hotel and expect it to be quite knowing the location among other things. Brainless guests out there. This hotel is in a great location, we had room 105 for 2 nights for 3 of us and we had a great nights sleep. Lovely warm welcome from the staff, clean comfortable room, lovely breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much to all the staff. Will visit again soon 😎
This Holiday Inn express is situated in a good location, not far from M4/5 and city centre. Rooms was very comfortable, good reception and bar area with lots of sitting and no overcrowding, my only gripe was the breakfast, it was ok, but could do better, bacon, sausage, beans and scrambled egg, could do with a bit more verity, but, it is an express so you get what you pay for, overall good place.
A budget hotel, I'd say: If you want a 'silent' and 'quiet' night, this is not the place to go: surrounded by nothing but car noise (next to an A road). However, the beds were clean, the rooms were reasonably furnished and the breakfast is okay. The staff were actually very helpful and that turned it around: I had an awful night's sleep but the hotel agreed to a refund. Whilst this leaves me tired, at least I am not out of pocket for having to endure noisy closing doors and thin, modern walls. If you are a good sleeper, this hotel will probably work. If not, then you may need heavy ear plugs. Review is based on the fact that the bed linen was clean, the breakfast was adequate, helpful staff and the bad night's sleep was refunded: Had it not been for the refund, the rating would have been "poor".
The hotel has been expanded, rooms really nice and spacious, bathrooms good. Breakfast is ok not as good as Premier Inn but enough choice. This hotel is close to the Abbey Wood complex. Does not do good evening meals but there is a pub next door and restaurants in a nearby complex.
Just like every other Holiday Inn Express in England, this hotel offers a very comfortable stay. However, it is located about 30 to 40 minutes away from the city center. There are two bus stops within a very short walk from the hotel, and there is a variety of restaurants nearby. There’s also a sainsbury’s, the next store outlet and another sports clothing store. The rooms are conveniently sized for 2 or 3 people, the breakfast is basic but good, and you can have your breakfast in a paper bag (to go) if you’re in a hurry. The bed is comfortable and there are both firm and soft pillows. The room is equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, but it would be really helpful if a safe was provided in the room too. I would totally recommend staying there if you’re looking for a comfortable stay and you don’t need to be close to the city center.
Several trips during January. It’s clean, well located , good bedrooms and a reasonable breakfast. Now doing a limited selection of evening meals. This will improve the quiet bar atmosphere. The extension should help with more room availability.
Second stay here. Staff are welcoming and will do anything they can to help. Room is clean and comfortable with all the facilities you could wish for and a fantastic shower. Then comes breakfast....the food is good - when you can get to it. Self service coffee bar is lovely and the selection of food is excellent. It’s just getting to it that’s the problem. It’s in a small area off the restaurant which just gets full of people milling around, queueing for various things, being very rude, kids running round randomly grabbing things & kitchen staff were unable to keep up with bringing the food out. There were people there who went elsewhere for breakfast in the end the situation was that dire. I know the hotel is currently being expanded and there are plans for a larger breakfast area. I hope this resolves the current problems. Management may also want to consider staggering breakfast times to ease this problem or have some sort of flow system in place as this is really off putting.
We stayed as a family of four (two young children) and were very impressed with the cleanliness, quality of the rooms and the hotel staff. The breakfast was good considering the price. Although the bacon needs to be avoided. And the only thing stopping a five rating was that the pull out bed was rather hard and bent up slightly in the middle. Otherwise fantastic stay for the price!
Stayed recently because the price was very good (first week in Jan) - normally rates are very high for the standard of hotel. In general my stay was fine. The room itself was decent and I had a good nights sleep. Overall it was very clean apart from an empty chocolate wrapper and some toilet roll on the floor of the main bedroom (this was a bit odd as the rest of the room and bathroom were spotless). Despite being near the main road, the hotel was very quiet. The bar/restaurant area is quite large but lacks atmosphere and charm - more could be done with this. Service was pleasant throughout.
