Seven of us stayed in single bedded rooms on our top team away day. Rooms were comfortable but would have benefited from duvets rather than blankets and counterpanes. Full English breakfast was one of the best I've ever had and the other breakfast variants that were served looked great too. Service was impeccable. Duvets and you'd get a 5!
This is a nice hotel that go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. I got a nice welcome e-mail in advance of arriving. The check in process was very easy and the receptionists very friendly and welcoming. The room itself was a single room but of reason size. The hotel are clearly trying to make an impression with free fruit, tea/coffee, Bristol Harvey Cream etc. The room was well appointed and everything worked as it should. The bathroom was clean and had a good shower with plenty of hot water. The hotel itself was very quiet and I got two good nights sleep. The location is also very good, close to shops, restaurants and bars. My only complaint was the WIfi which was pretty unusable (hence my average room rating - the room itself was fine). Aside from this it was a great stay.
I have just recently stayed at this hotel and the hotel reception staff are so unprofessional, the service is very poor & inadequate and if you are looking for hospitality you will not get it here. I booked 3 deluxe king rooms in April and was called very early in the morning of my arrival date to advise me that they had over booked and that one of my rooms would be downgraded to a lower deck double room, I was not at all happy about this and I advised that I would not accept the downgrade and advised them that they could down grade the person they overbooked to. Reception advised they would call me back, which they did and they advised instead of downgrading me they would upgrade me to one of their suites instead. My question is why downgrade someone and leave them feeling extremely disappointed & after a fuss is made then offer to upgrade them, it does not make any sense from a pleasant customer journey point of view. The suite was OK much better than the rooms but certainly not boutique rooms, old, dirty eiderdowns cover the beds, no duvets but worn brown blankets, the shower room had lots of dust along the skirting boards. My sons room, very small, cramped and really outdated with worn & tired furniture. When walking to my sons room the outside of the room doors are really dirty which did not create a good first impression. Overall if I had to rate this hotel I could not even offer it 1 star. The reception staff seriously need to be trained on hospitality, how to meet & greet guests in a pleasant friendly & welcoming manner, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. The week before check in we visited reception to check our rooms were still booked in and advised that we had already paid for our rooms at time of booking via reception, they said they would look into this and call us back, they never did call us back so we have paid twice for 2 rooms, I would like this to be looked into and a call back from the hotel manager not the head receptionist. My stay here was because I had booked The Square Private Members Club to host a birthday party and the food timing were mixed up in the kitchen so hence all other band timings, photo timing ect had to be re arranged on the night in situ with the bar manager who's response was "its not my fault" overall ruined something that had been planned for a long time.
Whilst on a short business trip to the area I stayed here for 2 nights. I cannot speak highly enough of how accommodating the staff and facilities were. I stayed in one of the suites at the hotel and I must say I had a very peaceful and relaxing night sleep both nights. The suite was spotless and well worth the extra charge! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the area. I will be returning!
I stayed at The Berkeley Square Hotel for a week while on a course in May 2017. The staff were amazing and really accommodating - special mention to Eliza who printed me a map and directed me to all the local 'must sees.' Food on the restaurant was phenomenal. Room was just above the bar and was a bit noisy especially on the Friday evening when they were having an event, otherwise really clean and tastefully furnished. Would definitely consider staying here again!
Loud thumping base and people shouting in the bar all transmitted up into the room through the floor. The sound of crates of bottles being dropped out the back came in through the window. All at 11.30 at night. You will need to get a few drinks in you and want to stay up late to enjoy this place. It's party central, not suitable for those who need to get up in the morning. Not at all what it looks like from the outside. They need to work out what their business model is currently the two parts don't fit together.
Just had a business breakfast meeting.... the breakfast was absolutely delicious.... I ordered the vegetarian... Served piping hot - poached eggs were perfect - hash brown crisp and fluffy... Toast was served a plenty - washed down zingy orange juice and abundance of tea.... Mini Danish pastries to finish... Everything to love and come back for
Stayed at the Berkeley Square Hotel for 1 night and will certainly be returning. The room was perfect, with the biggest bed we've ever slept in. Really nice complimentary items in the room including Sherry. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and take care of you the moment you enter the reception. The hotel is in a great location with plenty of parking in the square. Can't wait to stay again.
Really nice and welcoming staff ! Loved the room and facilities , breakfast was very enjoyable. It was surprisingly quiet considering the hotel is so close to the centre , we will definitely be coming back !!
I booked this hotel in July for the 2 and 3 September. On arrival the receptionists were very pleasant and advised that there was a wedding service and reception at the hotel and consequently had put us in a room away from the noise (like other reviewers we were not given a courtesy call before arriving). The room overlooked the back of another hotel - not the best of views. It was of a good size and the bed was comfortable, however the room was in need of a deep clean - the wooden window frames were filthy with black mildew and looked rotten; the sofa was stained and the paint work looked tired. On Sunday we went out in the morning and came back in the afternnoon to find that the Housekeeping had not been done. Both Saturday and Sunday night the bar was closed for private functions. The wifi was not working on Monday morning. The Hotel is nicely situated but it's a shame, that for us, it failed to live up to its publicity - "As the flagship of our group of independent Bristol hotels, our guests are assured of a unique experience. Rooms range from Executive to the group's best luxury Club category"
