The only glitch was that the manager wasn't at the front desk when I checked in late at night and there was a number posted on the front door to call which I couldn't get to work. That was a little scary since I wasn't from Australia. He finally showed up and I got checked in.
Story bridge view from up high excellent. The river traffic and Eagle pier vicinity wonderful to watch from the covered outdoor area. Very large unit. Staff helpful and up for a friendly chat. Ensure information provided
The facility itself, was great: great location, great views, great service. However, the dining options in the vicinity were expensive and weren't that tasty, especially for the money charged. The included kitchenette helped alleviate this but limited utensils and spices reduced us to making simple meals or reheating preprepared food. That being said, with some exploration, fair food could be had, but never had I had to work so hard at finding it! Food issues notwithstanding, Brisbane is a great city and the Oaks on Felix a good place to stay.
The Oaks on Felix is next to the Botanical Gardens, the Eagle St. bus stop (for the free city bus), and the Riverwalk area with nice waterfront restaurants. The "CityCat" and "City Ferry" leave from the Riverwalk dock and you can ride them all day for $7.90 each. The views of the city from the City Ferry at night are amazing! Our room was on the 25th floor, river view, 2 br apt. Views of the river and one of the beautiful bridges which are lit at night. Since the Brisbane River runs through Brisbane, it is ideal to be near a stop for the CityCat (catamaran) and City Ferry. Location was perfect for this hotel and the staff was always willing to help us with all of our questions! We took my parents with us and we all had a great time in Brisbane.
