The reception looks good. Dogs are welcome here. The reception was quick and thorough. We had a room on the 4th floor with the view on the UFO Bridge and street. At first the room looks tidy and clean. A second look shows that the bathroom has black moldy tripes on the kitting strips. Much dust near the airsuction vent that is forever on. The sprinkler is covered with dust as is the ceiling around it. The room is booked for two yet we have one single bed spread. We found the second one in the closet. There is choise for tea or coffee although they expect you to make tea with the Nespresso coffee machine. Anyone knows that coffee machines leave a coffee taste behind on the hot water. In this case we found a "we cleaned this coffee machine for you" note from the staff..the first two cups we made, without making a coffee first and without using pads, gave us two cups of hot water with coffee residu in it. So no tea then. The variety of tea choices made it hard already..1 bag of lemon and 1 bag of green tea (I wanted English or Earl grey). Of course anything can be asked at the reception in case we want more or something different but what is service if you have to ask for all? A second Tea cup (only 1 espresso and 1 tea/coffee cup are provided), a different pillow? More shower/bathing uttilities that are supposed to be in the utillity box? Other bigger problems we found are the TV at the end of the bed. We don't wacth TV and it actually makes the room really small. The noise from outside is too much. You can hear people talking in front of the building. The traffic noice cannot be shut out. Showering must be done quickly. The bathroom floor is filled up to the rim within 10 minutes because the water can't leave that quickly. We didn't attended the breakfast becuase in my opinion 19,- is too much for a breakfast and not in line with other 4* restaurants. All in all not the quality I hoped to enjoy.
The hotel is located near the City Center (you reach the Center in 2 minutes by Walking). Our room was nice and very quiet. The Wellness area is also good after a Long walking day. Would come back again .
Everytime I have to go to Bratislava for work I spend one or two nights here. It's close to the old town and well-connected to public transfer. Even though it's close to a main road, the rooms are very quiet. Rooms size is very good, the breakfast as well. Prizes are adequate.
We stayed in the hotel for a short weekend trip to explore the city. The location of the hotel is perfect for that as you reach the old town very quickly. The rooms are spacious and we were lucky to have a great view. All facilities are clean and modern. The breakfast wasn’t perfect anymore as we arrived not too early (around 9). All in all a great place to stay.
We enjoyed fantastic weekend in Falkensteiner Hotel. Our room was small but inviting and clean. We had view of Bratislava Castle. Hotel is in convenient location near the city center. Friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed here for a stag weekend (a well behaved one - most of the time - may I add) and compared to other hotels we have stayed in on stag weekends, this hotel was very modern and with excellent customer service. The breakfast options were plentiful and delicious (the mimosas were always a great hair of the dog option!). Oh and the spa on the top floor, amazing! Steam room, sauna, again all very useful when trying to alleviate the pain from the night before! One last thing, I actually left my key in the room and the reception desk had to send it back to me in the UK which I received within a few days. Kristina and Ganisin at the front desk were incredibly helpful. If I ever return to Bratislava, I will definitely stay here again!
We stayed here for a long weekend visit and were very pleased. The reception is very modern and manned by friendly and helpful staff. Our room was spacious (although there are a rather odd shape!) and the water always hot. Breakfast was abundant, we particularly appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice that’s included and pastries. Make sure to visit the rooftop relaxation area for the view of you go. The only downside for us was the spa being manned by a male attendant only, which was not made aware to us before booking treatments.
An excellent hotel for a short break in this lovely city. Very convenient location just outside the old town; across a busy ring road, but next to a subway for quick access to town. Our room was at the front, but we were not troubled by traffic noise. As others have said, do not be put off by the rather austere exterior - the interior is much more attractive and welcoming. Had a spacious and comfortable executive room, with daytime access to a residents lounge - ideal for a relaxing drink looking over the city skyline. The only niggle was difficulty in regulating the room temperature, as the thermostat control was something of a mystery - could just do with some operating instructions! Impressed by the hot and cold buffet breakfast selection - regularly replenished and fresh. We had one evening dinner as part of our package and thought the food was of good quality, nicely presented and served. The restaurant wasn't busy when we ate and possibly lacked a little atmosphere as a consequence. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful - particularly at reception. All-in-all a very pleasant break, which we considered good value for money.
Overall we (2 adults and 1 child) were very satisfied with the hotel due to its proximity to the city attractions, very clean room (we were wonderfully served by housekeeper Anja) with nice add-ons such as coffee machine, helpful and friendly reception staff. Breakfast buffet was quite good, with the usual things on, but also fresh fruit and juice. Mind that lunch is served only till 2 pm, dinner starts at 6pm, in between you can only get a very limited menu in the lobby bar.
Liked: - Our Executive Room was spacious, well-equipped and included access to the roof top lounge with complimentary beverages and snacks between 6:30am and 9pm. - The staff were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that we enjoyed our stay. - The location of the hotel is fantastic being only a short walk from Bratislava’s old town. - We had some fantastic massages in the hotel spa. On the downside, the spa timings are very inflexible and booking in advance is imperative. - The hotel is very nicely presented internally. Do not be put off by the unattractive exterior. Disliked: - The hotel was not full but we were allocated a room with an internal courtyard view. I think the hotel could probably have given us a room with a view. - The price of food and drink was very high, e.g. €9 for a gin and tonic and €19 for a schnitzel with fries. - The quality of the food was not as I would expect for a 4* hotel. We ate lunch in the hotel’s bar upon arrival and the schnitzel was genuinely the worst I have ever had. It was soggy and completely unappetising. Worse yet, it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive despite us being the only people in the bar and there being no-one in the adjoining restaurant. The delay was not acknowledged by the staff. - Breakfast was uninspiring and the bread and pastries were stale. Bread served to us in the restaurant at dinner was also stale. - A member of staff entered our hotel room to check the mini bar without knocking. I was on the bed only partially covered by a towel having just showered and it was an embarrassing moment for both of us. He apologised profusely but he should have knocked and not simply entered the room announcing ‘Mini bar’ once already in the room. On our way to the lift one day we also witnessed other members of staff do the same. They either didn’t knock at all on room doors or they knocked once then went in straight away. I think with a few improvements the hotel could be excellent and I hope it will fulfil its undoubted potential.
