The location of the hotel is very convenient with a walkable distance to the main railway station and a few steps from the old town with a number a public transportation possibilities right at your door step. What used to be a super luxury class hotel in the Communist era is now a standard business accomodation.Still the building is very solid with really quiet rooms and some old style room heating, which I personally prefer for being very quiet and unobtrusive. The rooms are on the small side and rather generic but still fairly comfortable. The staff is however mostly very old Eastern European style often with no idea for hospitality and customer service. At several of my stays I exprienced multiple heated discussions at the reception being denied IHG elite status benefits with some really cheap attempts to make an extra penny for things which are supposed to be complimentary. That said some staff members are genuinely warm and welcoming. Recently an influx of cheap tour groups causes some crowds at breakfast which is otherwise very tasty with an excellent choice of food although the service is patchy and inconsistent with frequent ups and downs again depending on who is on the shift at the moment. Otherwise the hotel has a very pleasant and warm swimming pool and generous fitness facilities. Considering the recent heated hotel market competition in Bratislava with a number of new sleek hotel openings this hotel should work hard with some refresh and service improvements otherwise it has no chance to prevail.
The hotel is located vice versa the presidential palace - seat of Slovak president on Hodzovo namestie (square). Looking old from outside, it was refurbished some years ago. The lobby has a comfortable lobby bar. Just be aware of the garage / anti nuclear shelter, where you need extra driving skills, especially on the -2 level. The food used to be better, but you have plenty opportunities arround, so no problem. The rooms are nice and modern. The hotel has also a conference center, with all services. A standard Interconti / Crowne Plaza hotel.
Though oldish on the outside (communist modernist style of the 80s), it's well maintained inside. It has everything what is needed for a pleasant short business stay. The room I got was comfortable, personnel very helpful, breakfast fantastic, quite a large and well equipped gym. Small minus for air conditioning which was blowing ice cold air even when I stopped it on the remote controller.
I like to stay here when traveling to Bratislava for work because I prefer the quaint old town over the modern areas in the Danube. The staff remembered (or recorded) my air conditioning preference from 3 years ago. The breakfast is preetty good...a little bit of everything from Europe. Only thing I hate is stepping up into that tub. I hope to remember a walk in shower request next time.
Group of friends stayed at the crown plaza reasonable price for the hotel in a good location , breakfast was expensive so we ate out as numerous places on the doorstep . Would recommend this hotel as centrally located for the nightlife and the castle , 15 min walk to the river .
The hotel is set nr the old town in bratislava, lovely clean and spacious rooms, hotel staff friendly, breakfast not cheap at 25 euros thos, but plenty of cafes nearby for that, vey quiet on a night so sleep wasnt a problem overall a very pleasant place to stay wld reccomend to others
Rooms quiet confortable. There's Space so don't be afraid of not enough space Breakfast buffet is on level of a 4 Star Service disponible and fast Very good location with free parking for hotel client in center of Bratislava Room service = choice and on top
Good location, within 3 mins walk of the old town, but far enough not be affected by the noise of tourists late at night. Good rooms, friendly staff. Nothing cosy though - it's a big hotel, the bar is big and was pretty empty when I was there, and quite a few tourist groups arriving and leaving. Worked for me - would come again.
Anonymous corporate hotel. But seems to get an unjustified bad rap from other reviews. Great location, good-sized room, clean and comfortable, good breakfast, efficient and friendly service. Everything worked. Recommended.
Very nice hotel, clean rooms and helpful staff. Second time to visit and not disappointed. Within walking distance to city attractions. Would stay again if coming back. Good Indian restaurant in the hotel also.
