The Consul is located just blocks from the historic area in Bonn with shopping and museums. The hotel had parking on premises which was convenient due to the location. The staff was very friendly to the limited German speaking American family. The restaurant is limited to breakfast, but the short walk to the shopping area proved to have a number of good choices for restaurants and local eateries. The room was comfortable and set up for 3 people very nicely.
We arrived in the late morning (well before check-in time) from our overnight trans-Atlantic flight and had to only wait a very few minutes for our room to be ready. The staff was very friendly and a good source of local information. The hotel is ideally situated near old town Bonn, only four blocks from the Rhine, a 10-minute walk to the main train station, and a block from Beethoven's birthplace! The room was a bit small but comfortable and quiet. The decor in the lobby could use some updating but did not detract from the experience. Breakfast had many, many items to choose from and all were delicious! We recommend this hotel highly!
