Hotel Il Guercino4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at Hotel for Guercino for 4 nights but really wished it had been 2 at the most. The designer needs to study what a 4* Boutique Hotel really is as this hotel was a mish mash of design, decor and artifacts. The room was very compact and the decor was awful...loud orange stripes and yellow net curtains, no drawer storage and plastic and wire broken coat hangers in wardrobe. Our room had been modified to accommodate disabled guests and was laid out to accommodate a wheel chair user. Where it had been modified holes were left I filled in the walls and the wardrobe placed to hide half of the window...making the room dingy. The bathroom had also been modified and had 2 showers one for disabled guests and the loo was very high..holes in the tiles where the modifations had been done. The breakfast room was a chicken nightmare, chickens on the wall, behind doors, in cupboards, on shelves...a chicken nightmare and a classic example of over doing a theme. No fresh fruit, poor quality sausage and bacon which were cut into small pieces didn't understand the reasoning of that at all. Usual processed meats and cheese all in all although a good selection, the quality of the food needs to be improved. Location is good and the staff are lovely...very helpful...however when we checked in we asked if the room was a superior double which we had booked...we were informed that it was. It was not in our opinion and the hotel is definately not a 4 * Hotel....would not stay there again.
Hotel staffed with nice, friendly people. Room a decent size although en-suite a little tight. Breakfast really nice with fresh eggs cooked to taste. Excellent location if arriving\departing by train. A 25 minute walk to the start of the centre of Bologna. I would recommend this hotel as reasonably priced and reasonable location for most sights. Would choose to stay again if we return.
Well located near the train station which is great if you want to do day trips. A bit of walk to the city center but doable. Bologna is a city so rich in history, art etc but it was disappointing to see all of the graffiti and dirty historic buildings. Such a shame. Hotel Il Guercino was a great value, staff was very helpful and hospitable.
Stayed there with our son for one night (thank goodness) possibly because we were only staying the one night, we were allocated really poor rooms. Our son had the smallest single room I have ever seen with a loose door lock you could have opened with a credit card and had a window facing a wall so constantly dark (probably for the best) Our room had the weirdest set of room furnishings we have ever seen (straight out a car boot sale) and the shower was on a plastic plinth that bounced up and down. So beware...don't be taken in by the fancy wide angle photos on their website, this is NOT a boutique hotel by any stretch of the imagination.
I stayed one night at this hotel, it is not far away from Central Bologna station, and location is quite with less peoples walking around. The main disappointed points were long time consumed to connect wi-fi service and shower water pressure was very low,too bad on water flow. Hotel room is very large and hotel surrounding are beautiful and feeling comfort. Breakfast was very good with many choices complied to my needs. Reception staff are helpful and fine.
The hotel was generally good. Staff were friendly and helpfull. The rooms need some TLC really with some of the decor and fixtures looking tired and need replacing. Could not quite understand that there was no draws to put clothes like underware plus no trouser hangers so could not hang any trousers up. The bathroom was tiny could only get one person in there at any point. Had some strange fittings like a shower they had all different lights flashing not quite sure the point plus a beada that’s was not heeded or had room to be use Breakfast was good lots of choices for continental would have like more fresh fruit but thet is my personal choice They did have a anniversary party for the hotel which was a bit strange as guests were not invited so we went out to dinner and the evening but looked fun
Room too small to be able to unpack, shower so small I soaked the floor when opening the door to step in. On the plus side the inclusive breakfast was above average. At nearly €200 a night it didn't offer value for money.
This is a poor location on the wrong side of the train station, as the city is on the other side. In the middle of 2d night of two, I heard a loud crash. It was my safe, with my passport and money falling off the shelf. While a determined burglar will get you, at least if the safe is secured to something, it will slow down the burglar. The room is tiny, with only a metal chair, no desk, no closet, only a metal rack with hangers. The dining area is nice and the breakfast staff friendly, but this is overall a bad location and poor room.
Good location. Reliable hotel. Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and a beautiful and original restaurant. A small paradise in the great paradise - Bologna. Good SPA procedure. The best.
We only stayed one night but it was very good. We felt well taken cared of and are planning on going back next year. It was nice and clean, it felt like home. It was close to the trainstation as well as shopping.
