My wife booked this apartment as it was convenient to scenic world and the blue mountains and most importantly for the wifi access so we could research the area and for our ongoing trip to Newcastle and back to Sydney, as well as conducting business back in the UK. At reception we were greeted by a gentleman who was efficient but not friendly. We were directed to use the the covered and secure car park and parked in the bay allocated to our room 27, we climbed the stairs to our apartment and noticed the cover missing to the electrical board outside our door. On entering the apartment we were impressed by the size, large kitchen dining room and lounge with balcony which we paid extra for, plenty of room to leave cases and a well equipped bathroom with jacuzzi bath and shower and soaps etc in wall containers. The bedroom was large enough to accommodate another large bed with plenty of wardrobe space. After this we started noticing a stale smell each time we entered the lounge, this could have been due to the greasy extractor fan in the kitchen which was not secured properly and the manager Cheyne was informed, he said it would be sorted for the next clients, he was also informed that we could not get onto the Internet using our iPads but only with the iPhone, this was not sufficient for our needs and he informed us he would enquire why this was occurring and mentioned it had been previously complained about. The wifi was not resolved by the time we left and we had to resort to sitting outside woolworths in kaloomba to get online, not a good solution what was more frustrating was we could get online if we paid but we didn't have an Australian credit card to pay and we weren't offered compensation to do this. As our stay continued we noticed that being sandwiched between the Pacific highway road and the rail line from Sydney to Newcastle our sleep was disturbed and I am not a light sleeper. A notice in the bathroom requests that you try to save water but as mentioned earlier there is a jacuzzi bath ! Why ? Contradiction or what. There was a non poisonous house spider in the bedroom but considering there are screens to the Windows to keep critters out I wondered why then noticed that they were damaged as was the surround to the corner heater in the lounge, it was falling off. Small cartons of complementary milk were left in the fridge but they were frozen solid, I tried what I thought was turning the temperature up only to find this increased the fall in temperature and froze produce we had bought for our stay, again no apology or compensation from Cheyne the manager. Although there was cutlery, plates, cups etc they were greasy and the plates were very scratched, they should have been spotless for our arrival but if they were cleaned in the dishwasher in the room it wasn't functioning properly hence the grease. This apartment is like a plush car that is not roadworthy view the photos and make your own mind up, its dated and not fit for purpose someone needs to get their act together. During our five week stay in wonderful Australia we never had any problems, this was the only place that was a total let down and I would only recommend it to my worst enemy.
We had vistotrs from th uk, travelling with us. First time visting the blue mountains, great location can walk to shops resturants. The apartment size was great, however the second bedroom was damp there was no ventilation in the batroom, so after a shower the room smelt damp and couldn't dry out even with windows and doors open. I didnt like there was no window coverings in the bathroom but i guess it would be hard to fit them has window is incorporated in shower cubicle. The sheets could do with an upgrade and the towels need renewing.
We stayed at leisure Inn over the New Year period on a very reasonable Travelzoo special, so probably shouldn't have had high expectations- especially as the booking specified no service during our stay. The desk staff were absolutely charming. However, soon after entering our room, I noticed that the bin still contained the last occupant's rubbish. Given that one item in the bin was a partially filled container of yoghurt, I was a tad unnerved. Later found an item of clothing in the space between the bedside table and curtains! I notified the front desk twice, and on the second occasion was told that this was an unacceptable situation, received an apology and was told that the bin would be removed. I placed the bin outside the room and it was (eventually ) cleared- but the singlet I had found was still on the floor in the nearby laundry when we left. We all know hotel rooms have been occupied by others when we use them, but personally, I'd prefer minimal evidence of previous occupants !
Our initial impression of this accommodation was not very promising as there was no-one on reception: both people had chosen to go to lunch at the same time. When someone did turn up, the welcome was rather lacklustre. Also our room was not ready - it was supposedly being cleaned and we had to wait the twenty- five minutes until the official check-in time of 2pm. This would not have been an issue if the room had actually been clean! There were bits on the carpet, dust, a sticky stain on the bedside table and a woman's pop sock in the corner! Thankfully the bed linen was clean. On the plus side there was secure parking under the block, a safe and an iron were provided and there was hot water. The free wifi dropped in and out constantly. The dishes and cutlery were mis-matched and there was a horrible smell in the corridor. We were glad to leave.
We had visitors from overseas who were on a very short visit and we decided to drive to Sydney for the Weekend. We stayed in a Two BR two bathroom apartment including a balcony overlooking the garden between the two buildings. The bedrooms were very spacious including the lounge area & the kitchen space was great. The location was great close the Blue mountain scenic drive to the three sisters .Walking distance to the cafes, restaurants & Woolies.Onsite under cover car parking, staff friendly and helpful and a great place to stay on a short break. Cheyne & Munro Thank you. We enjoyed our weekend at Spires.
The photo above is what Spires use to market their accomodation. This must be a very old photo - there are no gardens except for small front plots. The rear of Spires actually overlooks a trainline However, Spires is in a great location, literally across the road from train station, around the corner from shops and supermarket and restaurants. There is secure undercover parking. The beds were comfy. Everything in our twin share room and bathroom was adequate. I would stay here again
Very poor. Our room was not serviced properly with no hand soap which we had to ask twice for as was in dispenser. The area just outside door was foul smelling which was not adressed by reception. After full day out we came back to unmade room with no clean towels and was subjected to a pressure hose for nearly 2 hours cleaning pathway outside our room so no rest at all. Not recommended.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our accommodation, simple, clean, practical and everything we required for a weekend in beautiful Leura. We were able to leave the car safely in their car park and walk down the street into the hub of Leura with all its quaint cafes and restaurants etc. We had great spa bath and hot showers, and a good couple of nights sleep.
clean and tidy but average rooms does need a bit more modernising but friendly managers and only to willing to help you out were they can especially with were are the best places to eat and also pointing out the differant places in the mountains that are worth visiting
Spacious and clean studios. Very comfortable pillows. Attentive service and staff. Ideal location for walking to Leura village and to experience the wide range of gift stores, cafes ... We look forward to being back.
