Welcome to Black Mountain Stomping Ground's Fiddle Creek.

Fiddle Creek is a cozy studio-style cabin tucked into old-growth forest and surrounded by conservation land. It has everything you need to be comfy: a well-stocked kitchenette, plush king size bed, clawfoot bathtub/shower, and a private covered porch with a hammock and rocking chairs to take it all in! Built beside a seasonal mountain brook, Fiddle Creek has its own yard for relaxing and spending time together. You'll love the creekside picnic/grill area, Adirondack chairs, and small meditation deck overlooking the brook. Fiddle Creek is perfect for up to 3 guests who love being outdoors and making memories in the mountains.

At 4,000 feet of elevation, Fiddle Creek offers sweeping views of the Blue Ridge mountains, dramatic mountain weather, and endless wilderness to explore. The property features a shared bonfire area and many peaceful spots to take in the pristine nature. Hiking trails on the property are being restored and will soon lead to two waterfalls.

Our land is a true wildlife sanctuary, connecting to nearby treasures such as Montreat, Mount Mitchell State Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Pisgah National Forest. Fiddle Creek lies within the Audubon Society’s Black and Craggy Mountains Important Bird Area, home to more than 90 bird species and recognized as one of the most significant natural communities in the southern Appalachians. You are out in the sticks, yet just 15-20 minutes from downtown Black Mountain, NC, where great restaurants, local shops, galleries, music, and outdoor adventure await.

Fiddle Creek is one of fourteen cabins at the Black Mountain Stomping Grounds—a private 24-acre mountaintop campus created for exploring, healing, and making memories. The Stomping Grounds is the future home of Mountain Man Physical Therapy, a retreat-style center for treatment, workshops, gatherings, concerts, and more. Please check back for updated photos and offerings.

Comfortable stay at a unique campground

The cabins are great—comfortable, all the needed amenities for glamping, cozy, clean, easy access. The campground is great with communal fire pits and lookout areas—we enjoyed talking to other guests and meeting new people. Beautiful area, great views, worth the price. Would stay here again for sure.

Had a wonderful time at the Fiddle Creek cabin! The hosts are terrific, and everything in the cabin is just what I needed; excellent space with nice appointments including the artwork, furnishings and core kitchen equipment. The back porch is a real delight. If you are looking for a little retreat embedded in nature, this is your spot.

The space was clean, comfortable, quiet, and peaceful. The back porch of the cabin is private and wooded and you’ll definitely catch some wildlife (we saw a baby bear!) The aerial view is only a short walk away and it is absolutely beautiful. One thing that impressed me was the water pressure—the shower and bath tub is amazing! Though this space allows for an “unplugged” experience, the wi-fi connection was great. The host is very responsive—I made a wrong turn on my way up and was able to easily get ahold of someone to make sure I got back on track. Be mindful that the only way to the cabin is a narrow one-way dirt road with steep drop-offs and no side rail. I’ve driven in the mountains before, but it’s not my normal terrain, so I was definitely intimidated. That said, I didn’t find the path too steep, but I do recommend AWD. Overall, we had an excellent and rejuvenating stay. I will definitely be booking again the next time I need a getaway to recharge.
