This hotel is a conversion of a very grand home, thus having a lot of interesting and charming details. Most of the rooms seem to be modern add-ons and they are pretty much what would be expected in a nice hotel (good furnishings, modern plumbing, etc) enhanced with very nice grounds. It seemed more geared to the conference/meeting trade, than to the individual explorer, and had lots of wedding venue information. All the staff were very pleasant from the desk clerk to the bartender. Our evening meal in the deserted restaurant was a bit lackluster, but adequate (who doesn't hope for a nice surprise you're the only customer?)
Booked in on the 11/8/17 for two nights executive room, we was located on the outside rooms attached.room 85 Room very basic two in dents in bath was very tired in need of update .extremley dark even in day . Our family stayed in a executive room in the main building which had a settee and mini bar?? At the same price Wouldn't stay based on room charge Positives: lovely grounds surrounding Breakfast was good both mornings couldn't fault Staff friendly always spoke . Honest review
This place tries hard in every area and I don't mind staying here. I am a regular guest and it is functional and accommodating with out being pretentious . Food is good , breakfast plentiful and drinks have a wide range although priced at the top end ish. Rooms are clean and decorated well with the shower is a plus as it is modern and powerful. You should be ok here.
we stayed at the mount for 2 nights we where going to my nieces wedding . we ate in the restaraunt on first night as it was our wedding anniversary .the food was amazing and the wine list wasnt to badly priced. the restaraunt manager asked if we why we where staying at hotel when we said it was our anniversary she decorated our table which was a nice touch breakfast was very good the staff where brill . the room we stayed in was a deluxe it was nice and quiet tea and coffee and biscuits etc where provided all in all it was great stay we traveled by train and cost £8 in taxi to and from the station . we will be going again in the future i would highly recommend this hotel it has around 60 rooms so would be ideal for a group booking
We stayed at this hotel for BB as we were going to a local wedding. The outside building was very impressive as we drove into the grounds and parking was plentiful and easy. The reception staff were very efficient and quick to book us in. We thought our room to be nice but a little like a travelodge room but we had got a good deal so maybe it wasnt one of the better rooms - the shower room ensuite was nice though. We were not offered any help with luggage though we only had one case but we had to take it up some stairs and along a long corridor which had a few occasional stairs. The first floor was very impressive with a lovely old fashioned wooden balcony looking down to reception. The bar staff were very efficient and we enjoyed a glass of red wine in the bar. The garden is very pretty to have a look around though not that big. The building gave an oppulent feeling. We came down for breakfast and found the breakfast room. We were eventually shown to a table in a beautiful ornate room and was offered tea and toast to be bough to us. I asked if I could have coffee (thinking maybe it was only tea) and there was coffee available. The menu said the prices for cooked breakfast or continental breakfast so we dont know if you are able to have a hot breakfast plus a pastry or not. We wasnt told to help ourselves or anything and as we know the usual hotel routine we helped ourselves. There was scrambled egg but no fried eggs were displayed. The food was nice. We were before the 9am busy time and we just managed to miss the rush when the food items were running out alot and people were waiting for food to be replentished. A couple by us were complaining as no one offered them hot drinks etc. Music was eventually played as background but the music got stuck and replayed a lot on one part ages before anyone switched it off so it was a bit annoying. I think breakfast could be more organised - there was a wedding party having their breakfast so staff were busy but that should not reflect onto other paying guests. Enjoyed the hotel experience though.
I thought the hotel was lovely and the staff were friendly. The room was like most hotel rooms, mine had a walk in shower which was great. The restaurant menu was good, lots of gluten free choices except, this is my only negative point, lack of gluten free desserts. The drink prices were average hotel prices. Pleasant surroundings, great looking hotel.
Stayed here for our sons wedding, beautiful hotel, lovely grounds, excellent clean rooms, everyone met at the door by the toastmaster "Steve ", who was fantastic and kept everything flowing and us all entertained, meals and evening buffet were lovely, disco was great and played everything we asked, day and evening went perfectly, breakfast next day was very good in a great setting. Thanks to everyone.
We had our annual family get together at The Mount at the start of July, in a Private dining room. As usual with our visits to The Mount, everything was superb. Our waitress, Amy, was simply brilliant - nothing was too much trouble for her, she's a real asset to the team there - give that girl a raise! All of our meals were excellent, all brought out in a timely fashion - we were not rushed either. The building, grounds and surroundings are excellent, and with it being a sunny day it was nice to sit out in the gardens after our meal. Altogether, a superb experience from start to finish.
Wonderful experience, the staff and food was excellent as always and the private room upstairs was perfect for entertaining y friends for mu birthday celebrations, I would recommend the venue to family and friends
Thank you for a lovely stay and great customer service from the team especially Steph (Receptionist) & night porter Simon, great breakfast. Made us feel welcome and loved our bedrooms we had even though there was a mix up with the bridal suite loved it regardless! Will stay again.
