We were a group of 3 girls and we managed to get a room with 2 doubles. The room was a fantastic size and very reasonable. The hotel is very central to the Bullring shops and nearby bars/restaurants. The hotel bar is equally good, sport on the TV, served fab cocktails, wine, beer etc. It close around 1:30am for everyone (resident or not!) check in times are 3pm but you can leave your luggage safely there until your room is ready. Would recommend.
Hotel was lovely very clean and well presented. We had a deal that included a 3 course meal well the food wasn't nice at all which ruined our appetites and the customer service in the restaurant wasn't good at all. The restaurant put a downer on the evening as it was my birthday and my partner arranged this for us as a surprise he also wasn't impressed. I live the hotel room and disliked the restaurant won't be eating there again.
Stayed one night for family to celebrate son's 21st birthday. Wanted somewhere central, close to the station, shops and parking. The staff were absolutely brilliant in taking care of us and making our stay so special. The bar was buzzing and the complimentary cocktails were a nice treat before dinner. The bistro had an equally good vibe. I was really impressed and grateful on how staff took care of decorating the table. The food was as delicious as expected; the tempora prawns and calamari were a great choice. Rooms very comfortable with great views over the city centre. Special thanks to Danielle for taking care of all the arrangements. Tip; we parked in the mailbox car park but needed to come and go several times. We preordered a day pass (£17 discounted as guests) which worked from 14:00 to 17:00 the following day.
Thoughts on MM Birmingham: Location: As good as it gets, city centre with discounted parking and right next to The Mailbox (v desirable location). Rooms: Surprisingly big and decked out well with great contemporary decor and a nice bathroom. Elevator: spacious, works well, big enough for suitcases. Room Service: Above average, pretty tasty Overall impression: Clean, modern, great location, great interior design, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
The hotel is nice, the rooms especially are well done and well furnished. Very comfortable. The bathroom wasn't up to the same standard as the rest of the room. Perfectly fine and clean, but just not very special. Well position and would use again.
Stayed here with my family recently. Fantastic location in the heart of the city. Rooms were very comfortable and really well appointed with modern funky design. Would be a great place to stay for a young couple. Not really suited for teens though or those who prefer a quiet lounge area. The bar/restaurant is very noisy with loud music which was beyond annoying as we had to shout to be heard. Breakfast was average. Restaurant food was very good and well prepared and served.
Stayed earlier this month for business. Hadnt been to this Malmaison before but had an idea on the brand from previous visits to others in the brand. Arrival was lovely, front desk staff were smiley and enthusiastic which is always a good sign. Timely check-in with reference made to my previous stays with malmaison too which is impressive. The bar area was quite busy, few small groups in which made for a good atmosphere. Service at the bar was smooth. Dinner was just for myself, not to worry as the team there were warm and welcoming. Ben(?) was a great help, knew his stuff and seemed a genuinely warm and happy chap to be there. Food was excellent, steak cooked perfect, fougasse a nice little starter. Didn't have a dessert as it s not really my thing. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Location of the hotel perfect, 2 minute walk to the station. Overall really pleased with my stay - will return on my next visit to Birmingham.
The Malmaison is a comfortable, nicely presented hotel. The layout is a little strange, as it fronts the Mailbox commercial property and this gives it some character, but does also create some odd spaces (such as the very small lobby). We stayed in a Club Room, which was nicely presented and gave a warm relaxing feel. The best was very soft, but otherwise fine and the windows insulated the main road outside brilliantly. The bathroom was quite basic and only provided a shower over bath, rather than a stand alone unit, which was a shame. Also there was no in-room safe, unfortunately. Parking is within the Mailbox main car park and even with a 15% discount from the hotel, is very expensive. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, but we didn't eat there in the evening. All round, it's a good, comfortable hotel, that falls short of being great in a few minor areas.
Rooms were clean and modern, easy check in and our rooms were ready early, great bar which was busy all day serving food and drink, we had a bar meal at lunch time, the hot salmon wrap was lovely, later in the eve we also had a few drinks, lively spot.
Good sized tidy room, modern airy with a spacious bathroom Great location Good Saturday night value nice breakfast easy check out with good reception staff, as were all the staff in general Right in every way
