Generally very good with courteous service. Dimly lit room - not ideal if you have some work to do or drop something on the floor! My B&B only included continental breakfast - this had no protein (cheese or ham) - a charge was applicable to have anything more. Expensive minibar, but aren't they always?!
Great set of meals for valentines. Nice starter, food well done, Dessert was lush too. Beautiful atmosphere, great services from the staff. Really worth it and would definitely come back and share it with friends
Loved the decor in the hotel (but the one in Liverpool is better to be honest)and bed so comfortable. Only negative was the lock inside my room didnt work (would have liked a chain on my door) so housekeeping came in on me; and the coffee at breakfast was too weak (right amount of coffee but too much water in the cafetiere) but filter coffee in the room was amazing! love your breakfast setup and staff were so friendly especially the brit/asian girl. great selection of tv channels too and the toiletries were nice with funny slogans on. had some really good sleeps during my 3 days here. food was decent too and love the french onion. All staff i met were helpful and hotel very clean. This was a works trip but wouldnt mind coming back on my days off!
After long time we really enjoyed our night out.dinner at Malmaison was amazing good food and really great service. Very busy atmosphere but staff was very attentive well managed. We will come back again.
Had a lovely champagne here as a birthday treat. On a cold sleety winters day the bar was warm and cosy. Nice variety of wraps, sandwiches and cakes and the mini burgers were a nice touch. Also to be brought warm scones separately was good and the clotted cream was to die for. The only reason I haven't rated it more highly is that although the service was friendly and efficient we did wait quite a long time (probably 40 minutes) for the actual food after our drinks arrived and if I had not drunk my first cup of tea it would have been cold before the food came. We weren't in a hurry but this could have been annoying for some.
Quite dissatisfied with my recent visit to Malmaison for an afternoon tea. We walked in to a very dark atmosphere for a Monday afternoon, but that's a decor issue- fine. Unforgivable however was the cleansiness of the restaurant area, as pictured. There were crumbs and pieces of broken glass on the floor and sides, lipstick marks on the cutlery and teapot and even the bill was marked with dirty fingerprints- shocking for one of the highest rated hotels in Birmingham's city centre. The tea itself was nice in variety- but it too had a myriad of issues. I on ordering the tea asked for a substitution for the goats cheese and beetroot wrap and was promised 'a pepper alternative'- this never came but instead was giving the wrap without the goats cheese. My salmon and cream cheese bagel was enjoyable until I crunched into a big piece of sharp plastic left inside the bagel- on complaint, I received another two-day but these were cold and hard and evidence that this food is simply frozen and bought out rather than fresh in nature. Service was certainly lacking, and we found it difficult to procure items like separate plates for our sweet/savory items or even a spoon to eat the mousse with. A shame really, especially with the 'service' price added bringing it to a total £21 pp.
I booked here as a suspense for my boyfriends 30th and booked the nirvana suite which was absolutely beautiful! We was disappointed when we found the jacuzzi leaking but I understand this wasn’t a quick fix as I work in a hotel myself! But the staff where so helpful we got a complementary bottle of champagne and anything else we had got given as complementary when we checked out. Even tho this happened it didn’t ruin our night and we can’t wait to come and stay again
Check in was simple and easy Dined at the restaurant and found the food delicious- service was good too. The room itself was spacious and had quirky art which I liked. The bathroom was also spacious but the bath tub had blonde hairs inside, Yuck! Breakfast was nice and service was good also. My only niggle is that the car parking overnight charge was still £17 for one night I think parking should be discounted further, 15% isn’t much of a discount and I was only there for 15 hours 4/5
On the positive the staff were extremely helpful when we had to rearrange our schedule The hotel is quite smart and in a great location for the station and the shopping. Good selection of restaurants and bars adjacent to the Mailbox and inside The room was nice enough one thing they need to fix is to add a cafeteria or nespresso. The coffee device they have is completely Mickey Mouse cardboard see photo The breakfast selection is either continental £14 or full £16 with no a la carte. Cafe in lobby serves coffee and a few choices but recommend you go out until they more flexible Overall it’s a reasonable hotel that is not quite good value in a very competitive market
A quick stop over night here was really lovely. Good friendly staff and an easy check in. Room lovely, full of niceties and bed was comfortable. Powerful shower in the morning too and the room was generously sized. I didn’t like the adjoining door to the room next door though. A really well finished hotel overall
