As you would expect of an HI Express, the hotel does not bring the "wow" factor. However! The staff here make your experience feel 5 star. They are polite friendly and efficient, without question, and constantly strive to offer the best experience for you whilst at the hotel. I must say, I recieved a better service than expected (I do hope this is not taken badly), and was especially impressed by Kim on the night shift.

These hotels tend to be in convenient locations for a brief refreshment stop or meetings with colleagues over a coffee. With an £8 parking fee for stays longer than 20 minutes this is not the place to stop for a short break. At least let visitors have a couple of hours. Other Holiday Inn locations allow free parking providing you are using the facilities. I will finish by saying the hotel did look clean and some seating areas had tables with power sockets, including USB. From this perspective it’s convenient

Food good, room good. Staff very helpful. Special shout out to the restaurant staff and in particular, Mia, who looked after us at dinner and was very attentive, polite and efficient. Reception team were also excellent.

Rooms are a little dated but perfect location next to NEC halls. Literally walking distance to the NEC. Parking is chargeable at the hotel which surprised me. Breakfast has bacon/sausage and decent coffee too. No other faults and ok overall

- staff were very efficient and friendly. Offered a quieter location when they knew purpose of my visit as I was working, and moved to floor 2 away from ground floor where originally assigned my room - breakfast standard for these types of hotel - nice and spacious area to have breakfast though - one downside I’d say was cleanliness of room; there were tea and coffee spills all over the wall at the back of the desk where the tea facilities were - v easy to wipe clean but also v visible so poor that it hadn’t been cleaned. Off putting when sat working at the desk - also the bedside table was very, very dusty and needed a good wipe / dust. It was as if the room hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly for some time - maybe someone hadnt stayed in it for some time (it was a room with accessible shower and alarm pulleys everywhere, so for elderly/disabled users but why they put it on level 2 I’m not sure!) - other downside was a very, very loud and clunky aircon unit which woke me up in the night. Hopefully it hasn’t given me legionnaires !! - decent value on the whole though compared to prices of other hotels nearby and staff were brilliant, though cleanliness (or lack of) does put me off using again

We booked to stay here the night before we were due to fly from Birmingham airport. Great location very close to the airport. Great little pub next door to go and have a meal. Hotel staff very friendly very clean rooms. Would definitely do it again. 5 stars

I stayed in this hotel with my mum as we were attending an event at the NEC over the weekend. Upon arrival we were met with quite rude staff members, I appreciate the room is not ready until a certain time (2pm) be we thought we would ask anyway just in case as we wanted to head out into the city centre and feel comfortable leaving our belongings in the car. The lady was very quick to remind us that check in was not until later, and gave us no option for luggage storage (if this is even possible) so we just left it all in the boot as we didn’t want to cause a problem. We also asked if we could be on a lower floor as my mother suffers from Acrophobia and she just said ‘can’t tell you what floor you’ll be on as the rooms hasn’t been made up’ I appreciate this but surely a note could be made against our reservation? Upon returning at 4pm, we then find we are on the top floor so the request was ignored and we had to keep the curtains closed for the majority of our stay (not much of a view anyway...) From what was a awful start, we were pleasantly surprised by the condition of the room. Clean, comfy and quiet! Only point we noted is there was not one bottle of water left in the room (which is usually complimentary) and there was not a sign to indicate the tap water was drinkable? So we had to buy a couple of bottles from a local store. The gentleman who served us in the restaurant in the evening (Didn’t catch a name sadly) was a credit to your team and should be rewarded for his friendly, approachable and professional manner!

Stayed here overnight after a late flight in from Dubai. Quick and easy check in. Room functional for purpose. Clean and tidy with comfortable beds. Breakfast like many others. Getting collected, so hopefully no parking charges.

This is the first time we have been charged to park and we have stayed in many different Holiday Inns. Unfortunately we did not notice this additional cost when we booked on line. Probably wouldn’t have booked it if we had, as at £8. it added 15% to the cost and there were cheaper places nearby. Breakfast was average, not a lot of selection of hot food but OK . Room was usual HIE standard.

Absolutely perfect room for a short stay with kids. We used it as a stopover before getting a flight. Very near to airport parking. Comfy beds. Good breakfast. Great pub restaurant nearby. Parking is good and it's easy to find. Really friendly staff.
