Platte River Getaway

You'll follow a winding private road to this Platte River get away and discover a secluded three bedroom 1400 sq ft, ranch style home that features a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy gas fireplace/stove in the living room. The main bath is centrally located near all of the bedrooms and the 1/2 bath is a walk thru between the master bedroom and the kitchen area.

With a combination of large windows and closeness to the river you can actually see trout and salmon swimming from the living room. There is a small footbridge across the river that leads to over 100 acres of wooded state land that is yours to explore.


Imagine yourself lounging on the covered porch or in the screened room taking in the sights and sounds of the river. For the more adventurous the upper Platte is an exciting challenge to those who choose to canoe, kayak or tube the river.


From here your just a short drive to the many of the best vacation experiences Northwest Michigan has to offer. Within 15 minutes you can be at the Sleeping Bear Lakeshore, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Crystal Mountain or one of the last drive in theaters in Michigan. Within 30 minutes you can be wine tasting, climbing the Sleeping bear Dunes, charter fishing on Lake Michigan or shopping in Frankfort, Beulah or downtown Traverse City. Your vacation experience is truly only limited by your imagination.

Oasis!

Our stay for the week was amazing. The property is beautiful and secluded. I stayed with my mother who is in her seventies and cannot walk well. The ramp up to the door was an added bonus and allowed her to come in and out of the house with ease. The rooms were clean and had a homey cabin feel. The house is a hidden gem. We will be back!

Peaceful and Relaxing

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The cottage itself was comfortable and homey. The clean beautiful river surrounds the property on three sides and provided a relaxing atmosphere. We waded in it every day while enjoying the beautiful sunshine we were blessed with. Sitting by the fire at night and listening to it babble was so soothing. Would love to stay here again.

Lovely River Location

We stayed here for three nights in August. The highlight of this property is the river on three sides, which makes it feel very secluded and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the kayakers come by in the morning and their varying ability to navigate the bend. The pictures online are very representative of the property. Is it dated, yes, but you know that already. My only two complaints are that we had a lot of problems with bugs in the house at night. There are holes in multiple screen that should be repaired or replaced. There is one window air conditioning unit in the living room, but it was temperate enough that we wanted the windows open. My other complaint is that the kitchen could be more organized. It was stocked with mismatched random pots, pans, measuring cups, etc. We could not find a liquid measuring cup and the three dry measuring cups we found were all in different drawers. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the location worked well for what we wanted to do in the area.

What a great spot for a vacation. The sound of the river was amazing. Enjoyed just sitting on the porch and listening. Candies at check in were a hit. Everything was in great condition and we will hopefully be back again.

Quiet and relaxing

We needed a place to kick back and relax and this house was perfect for that. The location was wonderful with the Platte River running on three sides. We were greeted with local wine and chocolate covered cherries on the table. The host was very prompt with his response to questions/comments from us. The place has dated decor, but that doesn’t matter when you go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of the river. Sleeping Bear Dunes, Point Bessie, and Leelanau Peninsula are all within an hour drive.

River front paradise

Quiet Corner of Northern Michigan

My friends, wife, and I all had a wonderful time staying on the property. The river wraps around three sides of the house and creates your own little private corner. The neighbors were quiet, friendly, and offered recommendations to our group for nearby trails and parks. The house, while looking dated, had everything we needed and was much more accommodating for our group than I had anticipated.

Beautiful location surrounded by a shallow river. Plenty of room with 3 bedrooms and 5 beds. Fully stocked with all of the necessities. Very relaxing. We would visit again. Only negatives- be ready for being in nature with plenty of insects and could get warm in very hot weather with only one window air conditioner.

Amazing Property

The Platt River is the star of this property. Every morning, you can wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to the river flow and birds sing. At night, you can go outside and check out the stars. We spent more time outside than inside. It is just a short drive to enjoy the Sleeping Bear Dunes or check out any of the adorable towns that are along the lake. We will be back for sure!
