Sad and depressing hotel. First the area is not nice. Nothing around and ugly. Rooms in the hotel are big but very spartan. Furniture is old and wooden. I had a feelig I was in an psychiatric asylum. The gym in terms of equipment is a JOKE.
Hot room at 5th floor no AC no ventilation in the room just a noisy fan in bathroom. Power outlet behind desk was not working - reported at check out. Breakfast was good but second day the teawater was not enough hot. The smoking area just outside the reception is not the best solution..
The hotel, though not really centrally located, is spacious and the staff friendly and efficient. My room was a bit hard to find, through the many corridors (which by the way smelled a bit strange) but the room was then a nice surprise: very big and with a comfortable bed. What I did not understand is how come the entrance to the room was almost bigger than the smallish bathroom. Plus, though there were enough bedside lamps to grant a warm and sufficient light, the mail ceiling lamp was purely decorative, from a lighting perspective. Good and abundant breakfast.
Ok, the plus points first in an attempt to be balanced: - room clean and comfortable. Good bed and lots of storage space. - good blackout curtains in room The not so good: - hotel is not so central, so don't be lured into thinking its city centre. - its under the flightpath to Tegel, so can be quite noisy. The bad: - I was here for a week on a course. The food was poor. Very poor. Food served at lunchtime (usually buffet style) was then often recycled as an evening meal. A spaghetti arrabiatia was pasta, with tinned tomato dumped on top. No hint of seasoning or spice! - the hotel wifi is poor. No, it's appalling. Unable to reliably connect, only allows connections to one device at a time. Ibis wifi much better.
I was staying two nights on a business trip.. Staff is very kind and helpful. WLAN is bad bordering on useless since the login page almost always kicks out "too many concurrent users" The room I stayed in was clean and offered plenty of space to be in. But it was located in the most far away part of the hotel, I think. First thought I had when going there : "they really don't like my company here.." Up the elevator, down a flight of stairs and then round three corners... You should double check as a handicapped person.. Doors are somewhat weird as closing them from the outside seems very noisy and that noise is audible in your own room and shudders your own door. Breakfast offers a decent choice of cereal, juice and everything else you expect in a breakfast.
Great place, bit further out than realised but very well connected by trams and the S-bahn so not a problem for getting around Berlin, and easy route for the airport.
My first negative review! It's a bracing task. Check-in was friendly and smooth. Room 406 has beautiful high ceilings and crown molding. Everything else has been review-worthy-level cruddy. The photos should speak for themselves, but just to summarize, -cigarette burns (?) on the armchair, -no shower curtain or stall, just a showerhead mounted awkwardly on the side of a narrow, chipped tub -moldy grout -a large, dark stain on the duvet and bonus hair underneath -queen headboards with twin beds What the photos don't show is that it smelled like something had been waterlogged, a little dish-spongey, so I had to open the windows. What's worse (and mildly serious for me since I can't get my work email on the phone that I'm using to write this) there's no working internet at peak hours. Regularly. I laughed when I saw it: "too many concurrent users." There's zero excuse for this at a Wyndham property in the developed world. Insult to injury, you can see that the hotel has four spare networks, one for each conference room, but when I asked reception for a password, I was told (sort of shockingly rudely, but I do know that expecting empathy or apology in this context is a cultural expectation) that the policy was not to give it out. Unless you're at a conference. At 22:30.
Stayed here for two nights. Was fairly easy to get to - a 10-minute walk from one of two stations so good access to the centre. Found a great restaurant nearby - Da Giorgios. Hotel was clean, staff friendly. Was disappointed that I didn't have a bathtub, despite requesting one in advance. The shower was amazing though. Also, the hairdryer provided in the room kept overheating and was pretty useless. Generally, it was all quite good quality, though not very romantic or sympathetic to the building's history. Would stay again.
Hotel is near the underground station, 10 minutes walk. Hotel was clean and in a good location for public transport. Florian, who was on the reception desk could not be anymore helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for Florian. Asked for a kettle for the room to made tea and coffee. This was brought to the room.
Lovely hotel Amazing breakfast spread! Very good quality food. Rooms spacious and clean. Very helpful staff. Close to public transport however about 6 train stops from the city centre but not a big deal really
