Outstanding staff, gym with pool and location can't be beat!
2 rooms for 3 nights the week before Christmas - the staff was rude and snobbish from the receptionist to the waitstaff and bartender. The bellmen, if that's what the guys standing at the door were, did nothing to assist with opening doors, hailing cabs, or handling bags. The 'heavenly bed' was lopsided and had broken springs - disappointing given the chain touts their beds as part of the differencial between their brand and others. The hotel charges €15/day for internet access and €8 for access to the sauna - a little much in my opinion. That said, the shower was good - hot and strong water pressure, the room was clean, maid service was above average.
First of all, the hotel is in an awesome location within walking distance of so many attractions it was amazing!! We could see the Brandenburg gate from our room. The conceirge and lobby bar staff were great!! Now, the bad news, our room, which was a block and a half (room 276) from the front desk, so exageration as we were the second to last room and were on Unter Den Linden, was so hot as to be intolerable. The solution is to open the windows, which is not only an environmental disgrace, but very, very noisy. We had a great rate on the room (weekend, off season), but had I been paying a typical Westin rate, I would have been furious. The people at the front desk were very nice, but offered few solutions. Additionally, there were few pictures in the rooms or hallways, and since our walk was long, pics or some decor would have been nice.
Spent a couple of unforgettable days in Berlin. Superb experience .
This hotel is within all of the fancy shops. Main attractions are walking distance.
Great location within walking distance of museums and other cultural sites.
Hotel room was quiet yet located in a busy part of town with many shopping and transportation options. Bus to TXL nearby was just 2.70€. Eateries very near hotel for a quick bite. Front desk staff was very helpful with directions and hints. I thought this hotel a better value than Westin Grand Berlin. I'll book this NH in two months when I return.
It was ok but the staff are rude. The hotel is comfortable but very oriented on turnover
The staff was supportive and friendly. Location is perfect. Short cab rides or hoping on the the train right across the street mean you can easily access all the great sites of Berlin.
The location was perfect for where we wanted to be. Public transit close by, and we could also walk to any location as well.
Walking distance to all the major points of interest, and a short walk to the main subway station. The rooms are somewhat uninspired, though well maintained. The central atrium is impressive. It is unfortunate that they feel the need to charge for WiFi internet access. It should be included in the high price.
Great location but service was spotty at best. No one to greet you at the door, dishes were not picked up from room, and the entire hotel smelled like dog excrements.
The location of this hotel was near perfect for us. The main entrance is just off Friedrichstrasse, a block away from Unter den Linden and within steps of the Franzosische Strasse subway station. The hotel itself is beautiful & the staff was at every level pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not included in our package, but there are of lots of places to get food & drink. The area is tony, with many high-end shops, and it is within easy walking distance of the Brandeburger Tor, the Reichstag, the Holocaust Memorial, the Gendarmenmarkt, Checkpoint Charlie & plenty more. There is a grocery store in the Friedrichstrasse train station, & all the local restaurants we tried were very good. By international standards, this place is a supreme bargain.
The Westin Grand Berlin was nice. Our room was pretty far from the elevator. The breakfast was too expensive, but we found other places to go close by. It was convenient to many museums & a U Bahn stop was just out the door.
we explored Berlin for ten days, actually not enough time if you love great museums and 20th century history. Staff wonderful, helpful, efficient, attentive. Only drawback is that the pool is a little claustrophobic, gloomy, even a little chilly.
Great location, few minutes walk from the Brandenburg Gate. The hotel used to be THE hotel for the "Stasi" (East German secret police). Kind of cool to imagine old spies wandering the halls.
sightseeing in Berlin
We were only in Berlin for 2 days but this hotel was perfect for our stay. It is situated between all the main tourist attractions in old East and West Berlin. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We needed the name of a good place to eat and they came up with several suggestions and picked one for us that was convenient to the hotel so we didn't have to travel far. The room was very nice and relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying in Berlin.
I was in Berlin for business. The hotel was in an excellent location for sight seeing and public transportation. Professional staff and clean hotel.
This is an EXCELLENT Location. Walking distance to many of the sights in Berlin. There are also several good eating locations within close proximity and a free internet cafe as well (Einstein's). The subway is less than a half block from the front of the hotel. The pool is circular and bigger than most hotel pools, so if it isn't crowded you can swim short laps.
