The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin5.0 out of 5.0

I feel badly writing this review because the hotel did us some favors, yet I find RC hotels to be nothing more than a commodity, with this one being no exception. There is no 'luxury'. From the 'made in China' toiletries and towels, to the extraordinary number of interns and junior people running the place, RC has gone by the wayside, and the crowd with it. That said, the restaurant is worthwhile, the Club Level Lounge is comfortable and inviting and has a good selection (not great) of food/drink. Yet here again, run by interns. There is one strong concierge (hi Mark), yet they all wear the 'clef' without having earned them - my guess, not fact. Rooms have the usual level of overdone decor - think your great aunt run amok with gold drapery and linens - yet lack modern conveniences as ample power outlets, proper lighting and switches, etc. This is odd in that this is a newer hotel and should have been thought out better. Staying at a RC should carry with it a certain higher level of service, and they do not. Is this property different than other Ritz Carlton? No. It is exactly the same - a commoditized formula. For some that is OK -
I cant really fault this place. As stated by most reviews - they work hard at being friendly. All the staff - particularly doormen / greeters were always pleasant and made the effort. Without doubt - as the face of the hotel, so to speak, they are to be commended for the effort they put in. As for the hotel itself, it really is what you'd expect from a hotel of this calibre. Well maintained and presented. Some oddities in relation to décor- a feature wall at the rear of front hall which had a rather nice textured fresco finish, was repainted white whilst we were there. Still, no matter. The room is pleasant, and spacious. Dark polished wood, brass fittings etc. Everything worked, and no complaints there.at all. A slight niggle - we were there at the time of the Berlinale film festival- everywhere was busy. I found it a little odd that some of the rooms on our floor, were transformed into offices for various film companies etc. I appreciate that the film festival is financially important for the hotel, but it would be better if hotel guests could be on a dedicated floor perhaps? Whilst there was no discernible disruption to be fair, it was a strange situation to walk out of the room, to be faced by various advertising boards from adjacent rooms, which were now offices! Excellent breakfast = lots of variety. Huge plus point is the location. Its very centrally located. The S bahn, and U bahn stations of Potsdamer Platz are opposite the hotel -Arkaden shopping centre, and The Mall of Berlin are 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Restaurants, coffee shops, bars are easily located nearby. I would definitely consider Ritz Carlton for future stays in Berlin.
Two night stay at this lovely hotel in a superb location in central Berlin. As you would expect from Ritz Carlton, impeccable service and very well appointed rooms. Lovely welcome back each day from the resident Beefeater! Can certainly recommend a cocktail in Fragrances. Completely new concept in a Cocktail Bar for us and very enjoyable.
This hotel is built on the Berlin Wall that separated east and west. Very close to all things that relate to history in this regard. The hotel architecture is elegant from the front lobby to any of the rooms that I saw. The views are sometimes a problem as you will be looking straight into another building. I was in room 821 and it had that problem. But I can't complain to much as we did not book ahead and they somehow got us this room as it is the film festival taking place at the time of our visit. One thing that I that I feel it needs is a second restaurant with in the hotel. If you are here for a number of days such as us it is needed. The Marriott is next door and it has a fairly good steak house. Letter & WAGNER is across the street at Bellevuestraße 1 10785 Berlin. All in all nice hotel.
Definitely my choice also next time in Berlin. First time at this hotel and from the first moment at arrival you got the feeling you were really taken care of. Nice space rooms and all over good impression of the hotel and the facilities used. Very nice brasserie which also were the breakfast area and well worth the money spend overall.
we arrived early and the were able to give us our room with an upgrade. everyone was courteous at all times. we were able to use our credit even after we checked out. they went out of their way to be helpful.
Have stayed at this hotel on business several times over recent years. Rooms and beds are very comfortable. Staff are fantastically attentive - from the doorman who greets you by name (after a day or two) to super reception staff, matched only by the personability of their own Beef Eater greeter. Great down stairs bar. Only let down is pool, leisure facilicities which do not match that of other comparable luxury Berlin hotels.
Was my last visit a few years ago, I stayed at Ritz-Carlton Berlin twice within the last six month. Both stays I booked at Grand Luxury Hotels with all the benefits one gets being a member of this travel agency. My recent stay was one night on January 27th, 2017, rate was 165 Euro, breakfast included. I arrived at 9pm and was welcomed by a very friendly doorman. Check in was very easy and there was a prompt luggage transfer. I got an upgrade to a corner room (no. 611), but wasn't guided to the room both stays (this didn't reflect the service level one could feel all over the hotel with very attentive staff). Turn down was already done when entering the spacious room, a welcome notice and sweets were placed on a table. Although the hotel operates about ten years by now all public areas and the room were well maintenanced with no lack of refurbishment. Two complimentary bottles of water were also provided, ice cubes had to be ordered. Room and bathroom were very clean and there obviously was no cost saving program in progress as there were plenty of guest supplies (including shaving kit, toothbrush, comb). Shower gel and shampoo were of good quality. Having dinner at Brasserie Desbrosses was nice, too. Maybe the menu card could offer more dishes and the price level was a bit above the line compared to other informal restaurants in Berlin. Nevertheless quality of food, atmosphere and service were worth a visit. Same at breakfast: although it was quite busy, service was friendly and efficient, one gets a wide choice of food and as it was Saturday morning breakfast ended at 11.30am. Also worth a visit is the bar with live music in the evening, it was a really nice place to be. Check out was friendly and nice, there was a prompt luggage transfer and valet parking (35 Euro/night), nothing to complain. In total RC Berlin is a very recommendable Hotel. I will return.
Absolutely great hotel for business, exactly what you'd expect out of a RC. The location is perfect, right across the street from the Sony Plaza, metro and restaurants and bars. Clean, updated and the kind of service that makes you smile.
Well this was a very pleasant surprise. Clean Hotel, nice comfy room, friendly staff, good 24h in room dining, solid free internet, hot water, nice bathroom, quiet, good location,... I was going to put 5 stars but there are a couple of things they could improve. (I had a superior room) - no kettle and tea/coffee - no iron in room - all power sockets are behind something - iPhone 4 docks - the night service guy doesn't have to ring the bell 3 times, one was enough (patience)! To be honest, strangely this was one of my most comfortable stay during a short and intense business trip Thank you
