The location is great as its basically close to quite a few interesting turist destinations and lots of things to see in the surrounding area. I found the staff to be mostly a bit drab and boring with the exception of a couple great people Natalia in the Restaurant and Nico in the bar are excelent workers and do a great job of making everyone feel welcome. The recepcionist staff need to smile more and the same goes basically for everybody else working in this place. I love sofitel but my berlin experiences have been quite dissapointing to say the least. I also had an issue with my hot water ( got burned twice suddeenly) I asked it to be fixed after the first incident but nothing was apparently done and I suffered the same fate on shower of day 2. I was told that there was not much I could do except put the lever in the middle? So I had a bath instead just in case... The lounge on the 11th floor was nothing very special if compared to other sofitels so more room for improvement here.
Your hotel used to be my favourite hotel in Berlin and I've stayed there three times before, all though while it was The Concorde. Therefore I was really looking forward to the luxury, the good service, the politeness, the feeling of being pampered and the fine hospitallity I was used to from before. Unfortunately thats wasn't the experience this time. What I did experience was a staff, especially the front staff, that never looked up to say hello when I entered the lobby, the welcome I got was cold and mechanic and it seemed that the only agenda was to try to make me use more money than I already had (maybe I should have upgraded my stay if that was what it took to experience some of the old hospitallity). The room was fine (the bed fantastic) all though a little small and turning towards a backyard, but the cleaning was beneath criticism. My used napkins with coffee stains wasn't changed during the four days I stayed there, the bathroom table wasn't wiped because the same coffee stain was there all four days, my used wash cloth stayed in the bathroom for two days ect. ect. All in all I didn't get the nice and pampered feeling I used to when I stayed there before and I don't think I had a five star experience - unfortunately :-(
The hotel is just off Kurfurstendamm, being one of the major shopping streets in Berlin. The major station at Zoologischer Garten is about 5 minutes walk and, with several S lines running through this station, it is an easy means of accessing the sites of historic ‘East’ Berlin. We stayed in a club access room on the 11th floor and would recommend the additional cost as it included a very reasonable buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and cake, drinks and snacks from 6.30 to 8.30, and soft drinks throughout the day - very useful after a long day walking around Berlin. Our room was a large corner room with views across the city and was very clean and furnished with modern furniture, all very practical - with the exception of the coat hooks which were at above head height and difficult for my wife to reach. The bathroom had the welcome facility of a separate bath and shower, but the dual sinks were positioned unusually high and very deep into the unit. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, our particular thanks to Paul in the Club Lounge.
Just come back from Berlin after staying in this hotel. Fantastic hotel. Location, staff, rooms . . . everything was brilliant. Would totally recommend. The transport links are outstanding so although the hotel is not directly in the centre it is only minutes away. Already looking for flights to come back at Christmas.
Stayed here for 4 nights in a wet and chilly March. Nice hotel, not bad location as close to shops and restaurants but we used the train and underground every day to get most places of interest for sightseeing. If you’re looking to be more centrally located, I’d suggest the other Sofitel which is close to the Berliner Dom and museum island. There’s a small but nice spa and gym area, we didn’t eat in the hotel as there are plenty of places close by to eat but the main restaurant looked nice but quite expensive. The rooms are large and have everything you’d expect from a Sofitel with good customer service.
Beautiful hotel, near the zoo train station, which links pretty much everywhere in the city. Room was huge, and very nice with a view to the west of the city (8th floor). There was a delay checking in as the spare bed for my young son wasn't ready, but the staff gave us complimentary drinks in the luxurious bar whilst we waited. Staff were great. Can't fault this hotel at all!
I stayed at the Sofitel for two nights in March during a business trip. I had a room with access to the Club Lounge and was very impressed both by the room itself and by the lounge concept. It was great to be able to work from the lounge in the afternoons whole shipping complimentary drinks, and I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast served there. Very good service and friendly, helpful staff really made my stay and I'd use this hotel again in a heartbeat.
Annual address for our group during ITB trade show. Comfortable spacious bedrooms with super comfortable beds. Maybe beginning to get a bit dated but very clean. Breakfast is fabulous. Service generally in the bar is great too.
We had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel in Berlin near the zoologischer garten station. We were able to find excellent places to dine nearby and the train was just a short walk. We were checked in by Eric and he was friendly, helpful and charming, a great welcome to Berlin. We felt the breakfast was outside of our budget but found wonderful bakeries nearby.
Staying at the Sofitel Kurfürstendamm during 24-27 March, 2018 was a stellar experience. From the professional and friendly, early check-in, upgrade to a higher category room (Junior Suite) and excellent service throughout our sojourn, this was truly a 5-star experience. Our suite was spatious and well-appointed with plenty of daylight and a direct view of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Large bathroom with great amenities. On our last day we were even granted a late check-out. Simply outstanding.
