The staff is very attentive. I love being close to both the Tiergarten and to Ku'Damm. It is easy to get to all my appointments and there are many good restaurants in walking distance. The smoke from the Cigar Bar can be off putting when it bleeds into the lobby.
I have been going here for a number of years and I have always found the staff to be very helpful including the staff at the cigar bar and the restaurant. The location, between and U and S bahn stop and near many very good restaurants is great. I like that this has the feel of an older more established hotel. The food served, both at the breakfast and in the restaurant in evening is very good.
This is an old hotel and only the high end rooms have aircon. If you are in a front facing room opening the windows means hearing trains every few minutes which makes it impossible to sleep. Courtyard rooms are cooler and quieter, so such more pleasant temperature wise, but decor is dated. I would avoid during the summer months..
Savoy Hotel is in a terrific location and staffed with the friendliest employees you will meet in the industry. Worth calling out, one of the receptionists helped me when I had left some property behind and had it sent along, and another made a cup of tea to go when I had to run to a meeting
nice friendly staff, good location for where I was going, nice breakfast but no air conditioning in any room and very warm weather so impossible to sleep although a fan was provided on request but too noisy to use
Top marks for this hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Evelyn and the rest of the fine folks at the front desk took the utmost care to ensure we had a brilliant stay. The breakfast was phenomenal, the lounge in the lobby served excellent drinks and had an expansive selection of cigars. There is a small sauna in the basement, and they will book you a massage if you would like. The street is extremely convenient, it is only a short walk from Zoologischer train station, Europa Center, Bikini Berlin, and the far western entrance to Tiergarten.
+ Good location, very helpful and friendly staff, delicios breakfast - No shampoo and conditioner, just 3 in 1 with shower gel; some smell of old carpets in the room- needs airing; single bed and even single blanket
This was our first visit to Berlin and we enjoyed our stay at the Savoy very much. The location was good, and the staff were very friendly and efficient, which added to our stay at the hotel. If we ever return to Berlin we would certainly stay here again.
Quite upset by negative reviews re this lovely hotel. We were impressed from start to finish. Our room was beautiful. Breakfast was excellent with great selection of everything. My partner is not a smoker but ventured into the cigar bar and raved how much he enjoyed it. Great atmosphere and was not at all stuffy as some people's comments state, no smell at all in the hotel. This hotel still retains character and ambience of years gone by not like modern slick hotels with no soul. Love Berlin and the Savoy and will be returning next March. Can't wait!
We stayed 3 nights at the end of May and wanted a central hotel with a bit of style and were not let down. The Hotel is located in a fabulous area, we walked just about everywhere but the central station is just round the corner if you want to go further afield. On arrival the staff were excellent and we could go straight to our room even though we were really early. We had a Superior Double Room (404) which is at the front of the Hotel. It was a great size, there were 2 x single beds pushed together (not our preference) - there was a separate sitting area and the bathroom was great. We didn't eat in the Hotel so couldn't comment on this. Unfortunately there are some negatives, bearing in mind this is a 4* Hotel. On entering the room we were confronted with the sofa - this was badly worn, down to the wooden frame on the arm. The room was not in great decorative order, the window frames looked particularly bad - there were also paint drips onto the granite window ledge. This may be nit picking BUT the biggest issue is the lack of air conditioning... this was the end of May, it was 15 deg C outside but more like 30 Deg in the room with no heating on. We had to have the windows open to make it tolerable but then the noise, even at 4am, kept you awake. Its a real shame these points let the Hotel down. We didn't discuss this with the management as we felt there was not a lot they could do to remedy the situation.
