My mother, my adult son, and I stayed here while visiting Berlin. We also had my son’s dog with us. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The family room we stayed in was perfect. One bedroom had a king bed for my mother and I. The other bedroom had a single bed for my son and his dog. The room had a small kitchen, dining, and seating area. I believe the sofa was also able to be pulled out. The room was very clean, however it needed to be repainted as there were quite a few scuffs on the walls. The small kitchen had a frig, stove, microwave, dishwasher, sink, and a washer/dryer combo. I used the washer/dryer to do a load of clothes and it worked well. The hotel is close to shopping, the tier garden, the zoo, and Potsdammer Platz. There are several good restaurants around the area and the breakfast is descent too. The only issue we had was communication with the cleaning person, but we found out she was in training.
Can’t find any criticism of this hotel. They were first class with everything and we got a free upgrade! Rooms are well equipped, ultra clean and the bathroom is very luxurious. As it was our honeymoon we even got a lovely surprise! Will definitely stay again when we go back, well done to Sana Berlin
Location is good, just a few minutes walk from Ku'dam , the main shopping street, with lots of cafes. It is also easy to find a parking place in the vicinity. Check in was a bit longer than usual, but the receiptionist was doing his best. He also gave us free breakfast. The room was of decent size ,clean and functional. But we hated the bathroom. Firstly it is not locked ,as the door is sliding; secondly , it is separated from the bedroom by a glass , so everything is seen and heard very clearly. One day our room was not cleaned, although it was available from 11 am till 4 pm. The housekeeping knocked the door at 6 pm, when we were in the room already. The breakfast was ok. Good choice, fresh food. But we were constantly getting lukewarm tea. The waiting staff was nice. We also had a few drinks at the bar. No complaints, very good service. Check-out was quick and easy. All in all, it is an ok budget hotel , close to shops.
I stayed in a double deluxe room for 3 nights at the start of September. The room itself was extremely modern with a large bathroom and a waterfall shower. The bed was comfortable and the maid service was excellent! Would certainly recommend!! The location is good, very close to the zoo which is a must, it also has club's and restaurants near by. Will be returning if in Berlin again
The Sana Berlin Hotel is centrally located to so many of Berlin's main attractions with great shopping. I must say attractive clean rooms also very friendly staff... a fantastic stay, we will definitely be returning! We had such a wonderful stay 10+
Solid location near the zoological garden station, close to great restaurants and shopping. We got a two bedroom suite that was a good size and had two bathrooms, kitchenette, and washer/dryer, which was good value for the money. The beds were quite hard, but the biggest drawback was that it appeared that no one had ever cleaned under the couch cushions or under or behind the couch. It was a bit shocking when we went looking for a missing toy.
We booked a weekend into the SANA after having stayed there about 10 times over the years. Our stay earlier this year was average but in previous years the hotel was fantastic, representing great value with superior customer service. On this occasion, however things were far worse. There seems to be a change at the front desk, with far younger staff who seem not to be managed or trained well. Initially we were booked into a room which was clearly a single room when we had requested and paid for a double. We of course then had to change rooms, only to find that the air conditioning did not work in this particular room. We reported this several times to members of staff, including the reception staff, and were told on each occasion that we needed to wait 20 minutes for the system to function. It took over 1 day to convince this team to send in an engineer to fix the problem. We had to spend a sweltering night with the window open on a busy loud street, and got little sleep. The coffee machine stopped working half way through our stay. When we reported this we told that we must broken the machine, and although promised, a replacement was not forthcoming. Eventually we had to disconnect the machine and bring it to reception, asking again for a replacement, only to be met with the exasperated excuse " well, we're fully booked. " The sound insulation was very poor in this particular room, with a heavy footed, pacing traveller upstairs. In the sauna another guest decided to fully enjoy his own body in my presence, much to my surprise and amazement. This turned out to be a very quick trip to the Spa. Upon check out we received no apology at all for mistake in the room, for the lack of air-conditioning for a portion of our stay, or the equipment. In fact the reception staff smugly informed us that a management decision had been reached not to change us for the coffee machine! We have a large body of experience with this hotel, and they have been truly outstanding in the past. I would not return now, however, and would suggest a stay in a similar local hotel with a staff who really desire your business, like the Ellington Hotel, which is very similarly priced with a well trained enthusiastic staff.
This is just about the best-value hotel I've found not just in Germany, but probably anywhere. I stayed here after arriving from a 10-hour flight from Chicago. The hotel is very quiet, in a perfect central location, and the room shower is to DIE for! A nearly 500-jet, large shower-head makes for an amazing experience. Then the next morning, when I just wanted a coffee, I asked how much breakfast was...I was told 4 Euros. So I basically gorged myself, even if the coffee was about average for world's-best coffee country Germany. Would recommend the hotel to anyone, except for on a public forum like this creating competing new hotel guests!
The hotel itself is not bad. SANA Berlin makes a fine attempt to be a boutique hotel. The bartenders at the lobby bar were top-notch, super informative and helpful with local attractions. The lobby restaurant is decent, the staff however were eager to push the EUR18 breakfast buffet, which frankly is not worth the EUR18 they charge for it. The location is good for those venturing to attractions in Berlin. Avoid the EUR20 per night on-site parking service, as parking on the road across the street is free after 6 PM until 9 AM, then EUR1 per hour during daylight hours, though you will no doubt be driving to local attractions during the day. We never failed to obtain a parking spot here at the end of the day! The rooms make a nice attempt to be modern and everything is where it needs to be. No complaints about the rooms. I do need to mention the arrogant front desk staff, who act as if they are doing you a favor every time you ask them a question. Every time we approached the gentleman at the front desk, he was eagerly typing away at his computer and appeared to be quite annoyed that we were bothering him. Every question that we asked during our 5 day stay, from "Hi, where can I park?" to "Hi, is there a gym nearby?", was met with an eye-roll, an exhaled sigh of annoyance and a reluctant attempt to assist us. Just his whole demeanor was one of arrogance and self importance.
We stayed in an apartment in the SANA hotel. The location is terrific, central, 5 minutes to all of West Berlin, beautiful tree lined city street. The apartment is fully furnished, washer and dryer, great for traveling, very comfortable, one bedroom. Apartments face the courtyard, so ask for a higher floor. The service is exceptional, wonderful staff. I must commend PERELLO at the front desk. We arrived at 6:30am from the US. Perello was incredibly helpful, stored our bags, gave us complementary breakfast. Our first apartment was on a low floor. I asked to please be moved to a high floor and Perello worked this out as soon as another apartment became available. We have lived in Berlin, and this is our absolute go-to hotel. Easy to great shopping, local buses, the Ubahn (Berlin subway), train station, fine food, open market three days a week. The hotel itself is lovely, spacious, spotlessly clean, nice indoor pool on top floor, restaurant, bar, and the price is very reasonable. We have also stayed in a hotel room there, very pleasant and functional. INTERNET IS FREE IN ROOMS. Everything in this hotel works.
