This hotel was chosen due to the reasonable price that we could get rooms for and its close proximity to Berlin Zoo. Our party consisted of 4 adults and a 12 month old baby. The trip was a birthday present for Grandad and baby with a visit to the zoo being the highlight of our visit. The Hotel is situated on the edge of the Tiergarten in an area of Foreign Embassies, with the hotel being next to the South Korean Embassy. It appears to be used by a mixture of tourists and business people. Check in was quick and simple, with the staff being very polite and efficient and explaining everything that was available in the Hotel. I believe the Gentleman who we spoke to was Oliver, and he was a credit to the Hotel. We even saw him off duty one day and he acknowledged us. The rooms were modern, neat and tidy with plenty of wardrobe space and a safe. Beds were very comfy and the sheets were clean and crisp. Everywhere was spotless. The bathroom had a bath with an integrated shower which was excellent. Again it was spotless. No complaints, as every day in our 3 day stay we returned to a very neat and tidy room. As I have stated we had a 12 month old baby who was in a cot. We had two rooms next to each other at the end of a corridor. My daughter, partner and baby were in the end room which was enormous and was more like an apartment. This meant there was plenty of room for the little one, who has just started walking. Also there was a connecting internal door which we had unlocked so we had access to each other’s rooms. This was a big bonus for us, the room size for the little one and connecting doors made things very easy. Thank you for that. Location. A few reviews state that the hotel is a bit out of the way. For us it was perfect, away from the main area near the zoo, but just a 10 minute walk away from it. The hotel is very quiet with little outside noise. It has an embassy on one side, and a residential area on the other. There are two bus routes, 100 & 200, one runs past the hotel, and the other is a minute walk away. These routes take you right into the centre of Berlin, or to the train station and bus terminal at the Zoo. We discovered that a day ticket for 5 people, on all 3 zones, which includes trains, buses, trams and underground cost 20.80 euros. On our last day we had a late flight home, so we got a day ticket travelled around Berlin all day, then went to the Zoo train station and caught a direct train to the airport for less than £20. A bargain, and the transport system is so frequent and efficient its unbelievable. Just have the confidence to use it. Most drivers speak a decent amount of English. There is a small spa area in the basement. A small pool, sauna, steam room and if you have enough energy a small gym. There is a bar area in the lobby which is again immaculate with very attentive staff. Prices for drinks are very acceptable for a Hotel, and we had several drinks there. The restaurant is also situated on the ground floor behind the bar. It offers breakfast at an extra cost which I believe is around 20 euros. We did not use this so I cannot comment on the quality. To be honest we thought 80 Euros for 4 adults for breakfast was a little excessive, and we had good breakfasts elsewhere for much less. Having read reviews of other Hotels in Berlin from “Tourists” this appears to be common theme with people stating that the price is excessive for what you get. I know this review will be read by the manager of the hotel, so I will mention the only negative thing about our visit, and it is not a major one and can be easily resolved. Our party was 4 adults and a child who would need a cot. This was disclosed when we booked the two rooms and paid for them. As far as we were concerned the use of a cot should have been included in the price we paid and not as an “extra” payable on departure. We would have rather paid up front and not on departure. My final comment is that if you are lucky you may get some form of street entertainment outside the Hotel. As I have said it is located neat to Embassies, and on our last day we were treated to a peaceful protest by Greenpeace to the Norwegian embassy opposite over drilling in the Arctic. This included a life sized moving Polar Bear. Grandaughter loved it !!!!! Our stay at this Hotel was enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying in Berlin for a few days to see the sights.
We booked a suite with a private balcony which was amazing with views over Berlin. The hotel has high standards with a lovely atmosphere, and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The pool, gym and spa are compact but welcomed after a long day sightseeing. Breakfast is a must - excellent value and choice. The location is quiet, in the picturesque Tiergarten, but the bus stops outside and everywhere can be easily accessed via Berlin's fantastic transport system.
Stayed here for a week with my husband who was at a business meeting. The hotel is in the Embassy District very close to the Tiergarten. The Berlin Zoo is about 10 min walk away and Potsdammer Plaz is about 30 minutes. Take the 200 bus to get to lots of places (day pass 7 Euros and can be charged to your room). Hotel service is very friendly and the rooms are clean and very "euro". The hotel restaurant is quite good for breakfast (some food on the buffet could be hotter) with lots of selection. Dinner is okay but you need to get out for more variety. My only complaints are the crappy thin bath towels and the really poor bathroom lighting for makeup. Otherwise it was a good stay.
I stayed intentionally at this hotel as I regularly stay at the London hotel and so this was booked using my loyalty points. The hotel, was comfortable and clean and the staff were very kind and good. I would suggest that the hotel is situated about 15 mins walk from Berlin Zoo station so is quite easy to access. Breakfast was good and varied so yes a good place for the future!
The rooms, lift, restaurant are in good shape and tidy. The one thing I really like is the cleanest. Second to none. Most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hotel. Couldn't have been more sweet, giving me directions to a function I was attending along with a helpful map
This attractive commercial/tourist hotel is located in a lovely residential/embassy area near the Tiergarten in Berlin. The room and facility in general were in good condition and comfortable. Sleeping room and bathroom were modern, attractive, and well kept. Smallish, attractive, restaurant featured a wide range of well-prepared foods, and the bar was enjoyable and manned by a well-trained bartenders. Negatives were the relative isolated location (over a Kilometer to the nearest U- or S- Bahn station) and the expensiveness of the breakfast.
The hotel is excellent. The rooms are very clean and modern. You have a terrific shower in the large bathroom, a mini-bar fridge large enough to accommodate a few extra water bottles or some yogurt you purchased the night before at a local shop. There is ample storage for suits and dresses, a couple of pullout drawers for shirts and a good sized safe which is large enough for your camera gear, if you feel the need. Included is a bathrobe and two pairs of slippers. The single queen size bed is very nice to sleep on. It seems to be a high quality foam, and the bed comes with a couple of very soft comforters to sleep under and four large pillows, that are "just right" in terms of not being too hard or too soft. I had five nights where I slept as good as home, and when you're on a working trip, that's very important. Even though the room has complete climate control, which has a quiet fan system, my room also had the largest opening windows I have ever had in a hotel. I slept all but one night with the widow wide open, and was not bothered at all by outside noise. There is a laundry service available at reasonable rates. There is a breakfast available at the hotel, and I would recommend it. There are many different choices, including cheese, eggs and bacon, cold cuts, cereals, fruits, etc. And excellent coffee. The front desk staff were always helpful and eager to assist us in anyway possible. In terms of location, we were able to walk to many different locations in central Berlin with no difficulty at all. About 20 minutes in any direction on foot, put us where we wanted to be. All in all, a wonderful place to stay. A great room centrally located in a fantastic city.
A fantastic hotel, efficiently run by a terrific team of brilliant staff. I haven’t felt this “at home” at a big chain hotel in a very long time. Terrific, clean-as-a-whistle guest room. Wonderful, frankly peerless buffet breakfast. Delightful staff who bent over backwards to help us at all times. Excellent, compact but tidy little spa. My girlfriend and I felt so spoiled by the staff, especially at the bar, that we left what was (hopefully) a crazy tip before we left. Chain hotels like this don’t usually go the extra mile to impress. This one does. There is only one downside: we arrived in Berlin very late in the evening (midnight or so) and were told that our only option for dinner was to wander around Tiergarden looking for an all-night store. We found one eventually, but I’d have swapped an hour’s walk and overpriced snacks for a mediocre sandwich, all day. That aside, I loved this hotel so much. Great location, great facilities, run by fantastic people. Go!
Excellent hotel, very close by city center, near Zoo Berlin. Very clean with a modern design. Very confortable bed, nice equiped bathroom. The pool was in revision so I didn't use it. Good breakfast. The staff was kind and friendly. I definitelly recommend the hotel.
A typical German hotel, neat, superbly maintained, very professional staff. Rooms are not large, but clean, neat and tastefully decorated. The location is great. There is a public transport station nearby. I recommend definitely. Great value for the money.
