Stayed here over the weekend and was quite disappointed although it is not all bad! firstly this is a hostel and NOT a hotel, which we didn't realise until it was too late. Our room was extremely basic and not quite what we was expecting. The room seemed quite dated and very basic there was no facilities in the room to make or have a drink as there were no cups or glasses in the room. We did raise this with the reception staff and we ended up borrowing some from the hostel, but we did have to pay to pay a deposit for them. The positives are the room was very clean and the staff are friendly. The location is good and the hostel is right next to the station and short 5 minute walk from some really nice bars and restaurants. Personally we would not stay here again as it is not to our preference but for anyone who is looking for a hostel for a couple of nights and just want somewhere basic then it is ideal and a good location in a great city. Will definitely be going back to Berlin!
Stayed here on Contiki. This hotel/hostel is the works. Conveniently located right in the heart of Berlin with some of the best clubs and bars across the road from the hotel. Walking distance to transport is also convenient. Firstly the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and go beyond the call of duty to help you. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and modern with quirky berlin art decorating the building, giving it a warm and inviting feel. The wifi is good and the breakfast is excellent. The restaurant and bar is also great quality and cheap. Patrons should be warned that this hotel is the main hotel in Berlin for Contiki and Top Deck, with up to 100 drunk Australians/Amercians making noise at 4AM when they come back from the clubs. Speak to staff in order to get a good night's sleep and rooms away from the tour groups. Bonus points for having a pool and laundry services.
I have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hostel and can honestly say I could not fault it ( apart from one member of staff) however the facilities in this place are great and the food is so nice and such a lovely atmosphere. We arrived on Thursday 12th Oct evening around 7.3opm, the hostel staff on reception were so friendly. Unfortunately I didn't get their names but we dealt with a young girls with long curly dark hair and glasses who was so welcoming and went through everything with us. Half an hour later we called back at the desk as we wanted to know a good steak house. A young Australian guy again didn't get his name but he was so helpful and recommend Blok House and showed us on the map and sorted a taxi for us. Both really helpful members of staff. On the Friday morning though the receptionist was very unhelpful - a young girls with dark short hair.... we wanted to know the whereabouts of the hop on and off bus for purple and yellow route.... she was very unhelpful and really couldn't care less.... very disappointing after the 2 members of staff that we had en counted on the previous evening. On the Friday evening after a very long day doing 2 tours we came back and thought we would try the hostel bar and can honestly say what a lovely surprise !!! The food was lovely and the bar staff simply brilliant especially Lucia and a young dark hair guy... nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere is really relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. The swimming pool is a lovely touch to this hostel as well. Our beds got made daily which we certainly did not expect. The room we had was basic which is what you expect but very clean and we reported a problem with the sink plug and within 10 minutes the handyman was up at our room to sort it. I would definitely stay here again as the 2 people on reception and Lucia and they guys in the bar made our visit very special. Great team in the bar area.
This hotel was amazing! The rooms were massive, the whole place was clean and tidy, it was a modern hotel! The staff were amazing and friendly! The food and bar was of a good price and quality! Overall t was lovely and I would come back!
We didn't get enough in Berlin due to constant changes of flights and some cancellations of airlines. Landed up eventually for just one night, en route Poland. But Plus didn't disappoint. The energy is great, the guys at the reception are extremely helpful and fun. Rooms and bathroom are really clean and just about ticks most boxes for a mid-range budget trip. Wish we had longer stay in Berlin, but will definitely go back here, especially if it's a boys trip! P.S. You can drop your currency notes to pin up on their reception wall as well, that's populated with notes from all over the world.
Friendly place with a different look and atmosphere. International gusts. Mix of culture and languages. Need some renovation, but I will not see this as a big problem. Place is decorated in crazy artistic style.
Greeted by an extremely friendly gentlemen to check us in, unfortunately didn't get his name. Room was clean and spacious for us. Right next to a train station for easy access. We only stayed the night but if I returned to this area of Berlin this would be my first stop.
I have just returned from my stay at this hotel. I paid €230 for 2 peoole for 2 nights. My boyfriend and I spent 2 days in a hostel in another part of town then decided to treat ourselves to a private hotel room. We were excited about having an ensuite and also the use of the pool. When we arrived, the staff were friendly enough and we were given a room on floor 4. You could only get the lift to floor 3 and then walk up to the attic. The 4th floor has been cheaply converted into rooms. We entered our tiny attic room where the lamp shade was hanging off the lamp, a attic sky light with a very transparent blind and a shower that had been built into the smallest of spaces. At only 5ft5 I struggled to stand in the shower so my boyfriend had no chance of fitting in it. I asked the reception for another room and they were more than helpful. Our second was on the fourth floor and in the new loft conversion again. Our room was much better but it was a huge empty space, tall ceilings and two small skylights, this time with blackout blinds. You had to stand on a bench to see out of Windows. The room felt cold and uninviting. I'm not usually one to feel claustrophobic but i felt very uncomfortable in this echoey room with no proper windows. In the evening we went to the restaurant bar briefly which looked lovely and was clearly where the hotel/hostel has put a lot of it's money into. We then went to the pool which was a makeshift pool with a plastic covering that is lifting from the bottom and brown. The room felt cold and the lighting was harsh. Not the relaxing pool experience I was hoping for. All in all, this place has great potential still, great location, staff, events, restaurant and communal areas but i'd expect the private hotel rooms and pool to be nicer after paying £100 per room per night.
Berlin is awesome especially with this hostel ! It’s beautiful decorated with a nice garden in the middle of the building which you can chill. Awesome heated pool and sauna. Breakfast is nice and the bar is a nice place to meet cool people from the world. The hostel in a really good location. Just 3 min walk to S1 and just cross the street a lot of great clubs. Also it’s 4 min walk from the east side gallery. Would very recommend to go there
A friend of ours booked a 5-night stay for us (a newly-wed couple) at the Plus Berlin as a present. The hotel was not exactly something for us, so it entirely depends on what you are after. I can imagine that for youngsters wanting to go out on the Warschauer Strasse it will be cheap and ideal, but for us it was somehow cold and indifferent. And as I could see, the normal double rooms are quite expensive so I definitely expect better service. The building is a nice red-brick old hospital and the reception is enormous and impressive. We were given our room quite quickly and the personnel was nice and helpful in general but didn't seem ready to go over-the-top. Our first bad surprise is that it was a room with two single beds. I had sent an email asking for a change to a double bed in case a mistake had been made during the booking and got a reply that this couldn't happen AFTER we had already been there. I asked again at the reception when we noticed but there was no availability. The rooms are too large and sparse, they could be half the size and would still be big enough. It was beginning September and it was almost too cold in the huge bathroom. The beds were ok and we slept quite well. I think cleaning personnel entered the room once per day, but we had some coffee cup which for example wasn't picked up for several days. The location is perfect for fans of East Berlin and Friedrichshain, as it is very close to many bars and good hip restaurants and fast foods. It is also some minutes away both from an S-Bahn and a U-Bahn station, as well as from the river and the East Side Gallery. I can also imagine that the walk to the Alexander Platz wouldn't be too far. Personally I prefer the vibe of ex-West Berlin, but this is just my personal tast. Regarding the breakfast, it is very ok for the price of 6.5 Euros on a full buffet, in particular if you want to start the day on a full stomach. You can eat better stuff in Germany, but not for such a low price. What we didn't like is that the coffee machine in the lobby only worked on the first day and wasn't fixed until we left. All in all an interesting experience and definitely something different, but I think we will choose according to our tast next time.
