If you are on a short visit to Berlin and want to avoid wastage of time in check in process and settle your luggage in your apartment and head out...this is NOT THE place to be in. When we reached the property we could not enter as there is a code to enter and the phone was not reachable. Luckily after a bit some guests were entering the apartment and we trooped in behind them Only to realise we have to travel 5-6 minutes by car to reach the office of the property .Once there we have to fill some forms and a code to open a box at the property is given . The keys will be in this coded box. Seemed like we are part of a secret mission. After a good 40 minutes we troop to the apartment to realise there is no elevator or lift. This is challenging if you have luggage with you and if there are elderly family members. We had both. The place is quite far from the highlights of the city. The apartment by itself is clean but much smaller that what is shown in the images in the website. And one of the biggest nuisance out here is the noise from apartments nearby. The walls are also flimsy as we heard noises of people trooping in and out from the floor above us through out the night as there was a party going on. Also noises from the courtyard below come right into the flight. I would not recommend this place . For the same price much better accommodations would be available in better locations.
Four of us stayed in an apartment made for six. Lovely welcome from the staff in the office, a lift to the apartment and a spacious high-quality base to explore Berlin. Close to the local U-Bahn station and some really good restaurants, shops and cafés (go to Impala) this was really good value and felt like actually being a Berliner rather than staying in a hotel. Highly recommended, light and modern accommodation with all the mod-cons.
We felt very lucky to be at Old Town Apartments. The place was beautiful; full of stark generous East Berlin architecture. It was an excellent base as well. We ate in the kitchen every morning, the bathroom had powerful hot water, there was an organic supermarket on the corner. There was even a play room for the kids! We had heard that Prenzlauerberg was great for families. We found a brilliant way to explore it...
Stayed here with family -had a 6person apt and a 4 person Studio..could not fault it in anyway, they are clean spacious and well equipped ..had to ring out of hrs for a travel cot ,iron and ironing board and there was someone knocking the door with all these items within 10mins..The staff are friendly and helpful..If you need extra towels or linen there is a store in the back building..There is someone there within office hrs..The office is about a 5 min walk away from apts .also a €42 City Tax that I didn't know about (my own fault for not reading the small print) only downside is no lift which might be an issue if your apt is high up .would also recommend an apt at the back as there can be early noise from the street..perfect Location train stain is a 10mins or less walk ..Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it..
Stayed for 4 nights in mid-January. Apartment was pretty bare bones, but had everything we needed. The first night there was no heat or hot water in the entire unit, which was annoying to say the least when all 4 people had traveled 8 hours that day to get there and wanted to have a hot shower a a warm bed to sleep in. We contacted management and they said it would be fixed the second day, which it was. The shower in our 2 bedroom apartment was weird, it was a decent sized tub with a shower head mounted right next to it. It was annoying to constantly have to use one hand to hold the showerhead while using the shower. Not sure why they couldn't have mounted it higher on the wall so one could stand while using it. Kinda weird. Anyways, the location of the hotel was fantastic, very close to many great bars and restaurants, as well as the subway. Our room was 5 flights up, with no elevator Overall it was great value, considering we had four people splitting the 2 bedroom apartment. There was a small balcony off the living room which was a nice touch. I would consider staying there again if traveling to Berlin, but only if I knew that the heating and hot water would be working the entire time.
We travelled as a family, so the two bedroom set up worked really well. Lovely high ceilings, stripped floor boards. Beds are small, but comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, not that we cooked as loads of restaurants nearby. More comfortable lounge chairs chairs would have been appreciated. Friendly staff. Great location, two minutes from the tram stop.
The location is PERFECT! I did have such high hopes for this place, after all the lovely reviews, but it didn't live up to them. The room was spacious for the two of us, but our room was meant to "sleep 4" no way 4 people could function in this one room, one bathroom apartment. The sofa bed was hard and kept sliding apart so I was forever waking up and pushing it back together. And there was no covers to go on the bedding, so I had to sleep with a pillow that had no pillow case and luckily I used the cover from the one single bed. You would think they could give you bedding considering the room sleeps 4 not 2?!? The single beds were comfy though! The curtains.. well, well, well... the pole didn't even reach the whole length of the window and there was only one curtain. SO every morning I was woken up as soon as it got light. We also wasn't even told that the reception to get the keys from was 5 minutes walk from the actual apartment.. wasn't happy about that, as that's quite a key bit of information I would like to have known. There was also building work going on so two out of the 3 nights I was kept awake most of the night with constant drilling and banging. I understand it wasn't in the apartment building but the shop under the apartment BUT who does building work between 10pm & 6am???! And there is no lifts!!! Going up 4 flights of stairs several times a day isn't good!
Berlin is my favorite place for shopping with friends. I went there 8 times and 3 times in the old town apartements. The old buildings are charming with parquet and high ceiling. Bathrooms are spacious and Kitchen is really convinient for having a tea or a lunch. Ask for a quiet room because I know there is a few rooms near a local for music or club. They have a few building so you can ask for the calmest. The team is really nice. Dont' forget to ask the adress for the reception, it's not at the same place. Take the U bahn number 2 direction Ruhleben or walk 5 minutes to get to famous Alexanderplatz. Alte Schönhauser Allee is nice for Brunch and shopping.
These apartments are incredibly comfortable, clean and located not too far from the city centre. There is a metro line two minutes walk from the apartment which can take you anywhere you want to go in the city. The staff were incredibly helpful and eager to make our stay the best it possibly could be. Would recommend this place for both families and young people travelling with a group of friends. The apartments are surrounded by places to eat and drink, and one metro stop away from Alexanderplatz where there are many more.
We had the Big flat (120 ) in Schönhauser Allee 5. On the 3. Floor. (No lift).Very nice for 3 generations (5 adults and 2 children). Clean. The street are noisy, but when you close the Windows it is calm. Lots of restaurants and shop nearby. 150 m from Rosa Luxemburg U - bahn with 1 station to Alexander Platz. From here train to Schönefeld Flughafen. We brought the Kleingruppen karte. Up to 5 persons Can travel All Day for 17.3 €.
