Great hotel on a budget in Berlin. Went with large group of friend for the 2017 BMW Berlin Marathon. Hotel staff was very pleasant and friendly. Rooms were kept very clean. The hotel even offered the marathon runners free bananas and coffee.
We were most disappointed by this hotel. We arrived by taxi at 1:30am from the bahnhof because the hotel was 14 minutes walk in a poorly lit area. The gentleman greeted us, I gave him the name of the booking, he ignored me but proceeded to serve another guest behind us. After he served the guest I asked him if he needed the booking reference. He informed me he only needed the booking name. The city tax was paid for and our room key was given to us. Our room was on the 3rd floor around the back. I paid for a triple room. We received a double room with a toddler bed on the floor! My 11year old couldn't fit on it! The kettle was coated in lime scale. It needed throwing out! I went back to reception to query our 'triple room', the cleanliness of the kettle & the fact that there were no complementary slippers... What I received was excuses. Despite booking 4 weeks in advance. I was told by Herr that ours was the last room. He said he will speak to someone in the morning and see if we could be moved. As for the unhygienic looking kettle, I was told they were having 'issues' with the kettles and that was the last one... Complementary slippers, same theme 'last one'. This is by far the worse hotel we've stayed in. Very disappointed at the alleged triple room, the filthy kettle, the fact that the hotel is far from transport routes and there were no complementary slippers just some little packets of haribos....
Worst hotel i've ever been. In my room the air conditioner wasn't warking so i call reception and tell them about the problem. He told me i can not do anything for you. Because it was a cold night i got the flu. They still think is Hitler's time. This sucks...
Requested a quiet room upon booking, when we arrived were told that we were not in a quiet room. Staff were pretty cold to our face, but once we were through the glass elevator smiling, laughing and chatting with each other. Our iPhone was left by mistake in the room after we had checked out, and the hotel hasn't bothered to get in contact with us in regards to this missing item.
I stayed here last month with a group of friends as part of our Inter railing trip. The hotel itself was nice and staff were extremely helpful. Rooms were basic but very clean with good air-con. The downside to this hotel is that it is not very central (despite its name suggesting otherwise). You need to take metro's or trains to get to the main hustle and bustle of Berlin. Given the fact that we only stayed 2 nights in Berlin this was a bit of an issue as we felt it limited how much we were able to see particularly at night time when we were mindful of needing to get the metro/bus back to our hotel. We had a pleasant stay nonetheless but would definitely choose a more central hotel next time.
I stayed in the Novum Style with my fiance and it was really nice. It was very clean, quiet and modern. Only issue is the distance to public transport - Tiergarten station is nearly 15 minute walk away while the Ernst-Reuter Platz subway is nearly 10 minutes. The distance not so much an issue if you enjoy the walk but the hotel is mainly surrounded by businesses and car dealerships so it can be a bit quiet walking home at night. The hotel could rent out bikes? Overall the distance is a minor inconvenience rather than a big issue. Lovely hotel in a quiet area.
Cheap, great room, good location, amazing bathroom, nice staff - a lovely location! I was a bit worried as people were saying it was too far from everything but I didn't find this to be true - it's about a 10 min walk to Tiergarten station which is really convenient, and the 245 bus is also really good.
After a trek from the train station, we were pleasantly surprised by our room. Hotel was clean, modern and spacious with a beautiful bar and reception area. Rooms were clean and we had a problem with a broken bed which was dealt with promptly by staff. Excellent air con was a delight during the height of summer! The location of the hotel was poor and it was a fair walk to any of the metro stops. There are one or two restaurants near to the hotel.
The hotel was very well appointed and the room had everything we needed. We asked for more pillows and these were provided instantly. We didn't try the breakfast as we thought it was too pricey at 14 E each. The only faults with this hotel were that it was a long way from the centre and the bed wasn't comfortable. To get to the centre, the 245 bus stops around the corner and goes direct to the main station. However, it's quite a long trip (about 40 minutes to the station and then wherever you want to go from there). This too inconvenient for you to pop back to your room to change for evening. I wouldn't stay here again because of the location.
My friends and I stayed here during our short spell in Berlin. The rooms are very well equipped and clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The air con in the rooms was excellent for the warm days we spent here. Would definitely stay again. Only downside is it slightly out of town away from the hustle and bustle.
