Novum Select Hotel Berlin Checkpoint Charlie4.0 out of 5.0

There are certain things I expect in a hotel room and especially in a 4• hotel. It is decorated and lit to a high standard but really this ends when you go into the room. I look for a good quality mattress, no, a Premier Inn does it better. The pillows needed throwing out and renewing. Towels were small and cheap, thin quality. No facility to make a drink in the room. If you want breakfast it is €17.40 each but there are plenty of local coffee shops. We did let reception know on day 1 that the safe was not working but that was never sorted. There was a lot of noise transference in our room and this was not helped by a connecting door to the next room. Generally the room and bathroom were cleaned to a good standard. In the end if you think in terms of UK branding, this is somewhere between Travelodge and Premierinn. If you want standards such as Marriott or Hilton, book them or you will be disappointed.
The staff was nice, the location-good (a nice walk from the Brandenburg Gate), the room was quite small but very clean with comfy bed. You can rent a bike there to go for a spin around Berlin, that was very nice way to go sightseeing:)
Me and my partner stayed here on a 3 day trip exploring Berlin! Hotel is clean and comfortable. Hotel only does breakfast which is ok... I wouldn't say it was great value for money. Drinks in hotel bar - very expensive Wi-fi decent Central location
Stayed here for 3 nights for a little Easter trip. The hotel was nice and modern and everything was clean, with even better, a huge king sized bed! My only criticism was that the walls were thin enough that we could hear a man snoring next door... The roads were quiet at night and it was in a perfect location, near to checkpoint charlie and subway/train/bus stops. If I come to Berlin again I will definitely choose a novum select hotel- it exceeded my expectations after reading the not-so-wow reviews on here.. if you're looking for a classy 5* this may not be the place but if you're looking for a clean, not dated hotel, without breaking the bank, this is absolutely perfect for you.
We didn't spend much time in the hotel but the rooms were perfect, exactly as shown in the photos and well worth the money. The staff were helpful and the room was extremely clean and was cleaned every day we were there. We didn't manage to sample the food but breakfast looked nice even if it was around £17 each. The U-bahn and S-bahn are close-by as are supermarkets, restaurants and a few pubs which are all open late. Also, there was free Wifi in every room.
Good sized room in a location surrounded with restaurants. Not too far to walk into town, up Frierichstrasse and onto unter den linden, and the staff are very helpful. Would certainly recommend for a weekend break.
For a long weekend away in summer the Novum Hotel was great. Conveniently located near a number of cultural sights and transport links. The room was very clean and the staff were lovely. For a weekend where you're trying to take in as much as possible from the city, I found I didn't need much from the hotel but it was still lovely to stay in none the less.
Due to the nature of our trip to Berlin, we didn't spend an awful lot of time in the hotel, but the time we did spend, there was no complaints! The location is excellent - 30 second walk to Checkpoint Charlie, right next to a tram stop, and walking distance to Potsdamer Platz. Staff in the hotel were lovely, rooms were spacious & clean - very cool looking also. The only slight improvement, would be tea & coffee making facilities in the room.
We stayed in this hotel for two nights in total. The location was brilliant as a lot of popular destinations were a short walk or U-Bahn journey away. The hotel looks very nice on the outside and in the lobby, however the room was very basic and slightly dated considering the price. The bathroom was very nice and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The staff seemed pleasant but the bar was very over-priced compared to other hotels we have stayed in within Berlin. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay here again, simply because it was over-priced for what should be a 3 star hotel. Of course, others could completely disagree and if being in a central location is very important to you and you aren't trying to save money, this may be perfect for you!
Booked this after reading reviews on here. A well placed hotel a short walk from U Bahn and Check Point Charlie. We arrived early hoping to drop our bags of before looking around the city and was nicely surprised to be told our room was free and we were able to check in 4 hours early. We had a "comfy room" which was a good size and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. Even the wife was impressed with how comfortable the bed was. We found the staff very friendly and room was clean and tidy. Room was cleaned daily just remember to place your do not disturb sign on the door to avoid being disturbed by the chamber maids. Would definitely recommend this for a mini break. Didn't have food or drink there so cannot comment on the quality/value for money.
