Visiting for an exhibition and at the time of my booking, many hotels are full so I have to pick one which is near the exhibition venue. The hotel technically is not near the exhibition Center but there is a bus stop nearby which is only a few stop to the exhibition hall. But I had a really bad experience at the time of arrival. First, my flight was delayed so I arrived really late. I was staying there there for 7 nights but they gave me a room without any windows nor AC. The room was smelly and the bathroom light didn't work. I checked and the room I booked was deluxe and I still didn't know what's the problem as of now. I talked to the hotel immediately and they said the information they received was the room type they gave me. I talked to them and I would rather pay for an upgrade but the night shift staff said he can't do that for me. I tried to call to Expedia who booked the room for me and owing to the time difference, I didn't receive any feedback until the next morning and I have no choice but stayed inside that "sauna room" for few hours and didn't manage to sleep. After sorting out all the issue I got a new room the next day finally. Got refund on that night inside that "sauna room". I wish the night shift staff could handle it in a better way so I don't have to suffer that night. After all the delay, what I need is a proper sleep but not the nightmare.
First and foremost, I think it should be included in any booking site, (company site as well) that the location is under construction. Also if it is near any schools, etc. woke up to drilling, shouting children, and loud adults. Very quiet at night, but don't plan on sleeping long. The room itself needs a bit of updating. Only good thing was the reception staff and the close proximity to man restaurants. Best, DMGM
A short term business meeting came up so I could not stay in my regular hotel...this hotel is an old one just bought by Novum group. The outside must be historically protected or something becasue it is simply old looking and tried. There was scaffolding along the front. People smoking in the hallways, parties in the rooms to my left and right and no eye contact on the reception, let alone a hello (BESIDES the Italian Receptionist, he is EXCELLENT) the morning woman is rude. Bed was fine, room was fine but tired and the walls were just to thin, I heard snoring next to me after the party died down. I am a very sensitive person so I may be over reacting a bit here. All in all not a bad hotel, just more like a private hotel, meaning standards are not as high as a classic chain hotel.
The hotel is a five minute walk from Adenauerplatz underground station (which is the line direct from Rudow station - Schoenenfeld Airport). Lots of bus options as well. A large supermarket is a minute walk away and there are a number of restaurants within five minutes as well. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Breakfast looked OK but, as it had increased from 9.90 when I booked the room two months ago to 12.90, I decided to find somewhere a little more within my price range. It did have a wide selection of cold options (hams, cheese, fruit, muslei etc) with the only hot items being eggs (scrambled or boiled). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. Lots of cupboard space. Elevator is a bit slow so if you're on the lower floors, it's probably quicker to walk. Free internet quality was good in the rooms.
Would it cost more money to not have drunk peope yelling in the hall all evening? Or to have a minibar in the room? Or a kettle? Or not having the staff shout at each other at the reception? And how about having the room ready on time?
Very quiet neighborhood outside the center of Berlin (but very easy to get to the center as the metro stop is just a few minutes away!). Breakfast was definitely good: eggs, bread, fruit, vegetables, muffins, Nutella, ham, cheese, jelly,... we slept like roses. We didn't hear traffic or other guests. The staff is fluent in English. I visited in February and paid €45 for a night. That's a fair price I think!!
Reasonable rates, central (don't know where the reviewer who said it was a long way from the U bahn was? I have fibromyalgia and walk slowly and still got to Adenauer Platz in abou 5 minutes). Short walk to Ku'damm, plenty of shops and cafes nearby. Pleasant helpful staff, decent breakfast, nice rooms. For a Berlin hotel pretty reasonable prices, clean, good location.
The hotel is reasonably clean. In the room I discovered a very thick layer of dust between the beds. The hotel is at times noisy. In the past there were internal doors in the rooms which have been removed. The doors would have reduced noise. At times the heat in the rooms is unbearable. It is rather ironic, that in Germany,Die Linke and Die Gruene want to ruin the German economy with taxes and allowing countries like india to freely pollute and yet a sensible green measure would have been to moderate the heating so that one did not need to open the window wasting energy. The interactions I had with staff were limited. When the elevator broke down and I had to carry heavy luggage downstairs, the staff member told me that I was young and it was only three floors. If that was an attempt at humour I did not find it amusing. When using the left luggage facility, the staff member who was always reading books on duty invited me to collect my bags as she was not going to get them for me.May I recommend a little less reading in future and a little more attention to customer service. I do not agree that there are drugs in the area at all. Berlin is a lot safer than London. Berlin does not have the no go areas that London does.
I wanted to stay near Charlottenburg palace and I've chosen this hotel for good access to all the shops in the area. The hotel facilities are quite basic but clean and tidy. It was quite easy access once you've reached to the station. But the way to the station was about 10 minutes walk... a bit long way. But the hotel itself is quite nice for the reasonably priced room.
I stayed in Hotel Franke for two nights. The hotel is in a quite zone not so far from messe Berlin "the exhibition land". Is 2 mins walk from Kurfürstendamm street (fashion street). The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable but not really sound proof.
