Novotel Suites Berlin City Potsdamer Platz3.0 out of 5.0

Good budget hotel, convenient location to walk to Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, Gendarmen market and the Topography of Terror Berlin Wall exhibit. The Anhalter (S bahn) subway station entrance is right opposite for anything further away such as the Eastside Gallery or Hackescher market. Also walking distance to Station Berlin, which is where the conference we were attending was. This is a standard Novotel hotel with the amenities and service you can expect from this chain, the twin bed arrangement was strange but not a deal breaker as it was a better use of the space. Breakfast was really good with many healthy and not-so-healthy choices, so I would highly recommend going for the 'Breakfast Included' option when booking but it can get crowded in the mornings. The cons were that the curtains would not provide sufficient cover so the room would be flooded with sunlight in the morning and the shower curtain didn't really prevent the bathroom floor from getting wet. My colleague and I also had an issue getting the WiFi to work on our laptops, but it worked on our phones. Only common factor was that they were both MacBooks. Didn't look for a fix as we just used our phones as a hotspot instead. If you have business in this area and/or are on a budget, I would recommend this hotel.
We visited the hotel during the Christmas holidays. We went on-line registration - so that on arrival our number already waited for us, all we neded - to receive Key Cards. And here is our room - 5th floor Suite Football themed room. The room is not big, but very functional - a double bed + a sofa bed, everything you need - even a bathtub and a shower cabin! We have received a very nice greeting card and small chocolates from the hotel in honor of Christmas, which was a very kind surprise. Breakfast was vreally tasty. The hotel staff are professional and friendly..Very convenient for families. I am very grateful to the Novel hotels for a friendly policy towards children!
Great location, great breakfast, spacious rooms even though there was no AC so it was a bit hot during the night & with the window opened was a bit noisy but otherwise, service was great & personnel always smiling. Will go back!
We chose this hotel because it is suitable for three of us. Location wise was great with Anhalter Station just across the traffic junction and also quite near the main train station for us to catch a train to Cologne. Hotel is also very close to some attractions like Check Point Charlie with plenty of restaurants and shops there and also the other attraction Topography of Terror. Mall of Berlin is nearby too, very good for shopping and dining. The food court over there has plenty of food from all over the world. Room was clean and we had all we needed. Wifi worked well. Front desk staff pretty friendly and helpful. We also like the separate toilet and bathroom, very convenient. Beverages and some snacks are provided in the morning for those who prefer to skip breakfast and leave the hotel with a quite bite. The only issue was the hotel air-conditioning is not turned on when the outside ambient temperature is below 19 degree C. The hotel does not have enough fans to spare for everyone, unless you prefer to open the windows. Other than this issue, we find this hotel really great which is very affordable to stay in the city.
We stayed for 3 night at this hotel. Our room was for 4 people and it was very big and comfortable. The room had a microwave and mini-fridge wich was very nice because we were travelling with a kid. Another good thing is that the hotel has a parking garage available. The breakfast was also good and there is a nice Italian restaurant just around the corner. This hotel is right next door to the Ibis Hotel and we can order meals from the Ibis kitchen or just go eat there. The location of the hotel is great and there is a subway station very close, just across the street.
This hotel was one of the few with accommodations for three adults. The hotel was average. The beds were pretty stiff and not very comfortable. We stayed a week and they did not replenish shampoo and soap without us asking each time. They would not give us shampoo when we requested it from the desk, so we had to track down a housekeeper in the hall to give us some. Otherwise, the room was clean. Nice to have a small refrigerator. Good location near the metro.
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers who stayed here for 2 nights at the end of May. We arrived at 1130 and we're delighted that our room was already available to us. Reception staff were polite and friendly and spoke excellent English. (I was worried the German I had learnt at school 30 years ago would be inadequate!) The room was spacious and comfortable with a double bed, a single sofa bed and a rollaway. We had a great view over the neighbouring park. (Room 338.) A large bathroom with both a fab power shower and a full sized bath with hand held shower, there was also a separate toilet cubicle. Plenty of towels provided. Tea and coffee facilities, mini fridge with complimentary mineral water and a small sink and microwave. Breakfast was included and there was a reasonable choice of cereal, fruit, breads, cheeses, ham, eggs, either scrambled or boiled, and sausages, tea and coffee from a machine and fruit juices. In the evening the bar was a great place to unwind with friendly bar staff. The hotel is very central, just a 10 minute walk to the Topography of Terror and Check point Charlie, and a similar walk to the Potsdamer Platz. It's situated right next to Anhalter Straße station, and also on the main bus route. It was a great place to base ourselves. I'd definitely recommend this hotel as your base for a few days in the city. We really enjoyed our trip to Berlin.
We really liked this place. Family of four with 2 teens and really pleased with the space in the room. Had a friendly greeting on arrival, appreciated the free bottle of water in the fridge. Having the 2 single extra beds was great. Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of seating. Bathroom was large enough with bath and good separate shower. After a day out sightseeing was nice to relax in the bar in the evening and the bar staff were very pleasant and friendly. Hotel was perfect location wise. A few mins walk from Potsdam Platz and Checkpoint Charlie. All in all a great stay and happy to recommend.
The hotel is nicely situated near a U-bahn station, bus stop opposite the hotel takes you everywhere. Walking distance to all the main tourist attractions such as Brandenburg Tor, Potsdamer Platz, Reichstag, remnants of the berlin wall....... inside the room its pretty average with stained carpets and curtains falling apart. Would choose it for its relatively cheap price over quality though.
I only stayed for one night so I can't tell much about it. I had a comfortable double bedroom. It was clean and had more space compared to a usual hotel room. It was clean, tidy and had everything a room needs. The bathroom and toilet (both clean) were separated, which is more comfortable if you share a room. The service seemed to be friendly as well. The breakfast was good as well. The quality was good and the quantity of the breakfast was perfect too. I know that the hotel has a gym as well but unfortunately I didn't get to see or use it because of my busy trip.
