When we arrived we had to park our car, and we got a parking slip. That was great, but when we asked if we were allowed to park on the next road 100 m from the hotel he didn't understand or wasn't sure. So we checked our car a few times for tickets, but didn't get any. Also they didn't accept payment with credit card, so we had to outdraw money for that at an ATM. But location was great, the room was okay but nothing fancy. The breakfast was included and there was a lot to choose from, so that's a plus. I would probably stay there again, because of the price and location.
I stayed with a friend for 2 nights. Spacious room, clean, good size bathroom, but no blackout curtains so I woke up veryy early, in the center close to a lot of attractions: few meters away from checkpoint charlie, alexanderplatz is also close. Ubahn and bus very close. staff not so friendly but not rude, Free Wifi working fine. Overall, a good experience I recommend if you're visiting for sightseeing.
Old building, rooms older as well, but for one night as we stayed there it was great. Old elevator, but it was available - good. The hotel is just a few steps from the Charlie points, it means nearly the center in Berlin and the price is very good for it. Cheap for clean rooms, The problem was with parking due to there is a zone with a payment, over the night the parking is free. Rooms are large, breakfast was also lovely. Just for staying over the night and to be in a few moment in the center for a low money - good choice.
Stayed for 3 nights in a twin room- the hotel is basic- there are no airs and graces, however the room was a decent size, it was clean, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was good (standard continental) and the location was brilliant for the price paid. 10 minute walk from check point Charlie (if that), closest U-Bahn is at the end of the road, 20 minute walk to Alexander Platz which has lots of bars, resturants and the TV Tower. Ideal location for a sightseeing holiday and would stay again for sure.
So this place was relatively cheap and when looking online, appeared close to a few places we wanted to visit. We were a 10min walk from Checkpoint Charlie and maybe a further 10mins from Topography of Terror. The actual main city centre was about 10mins away by subway so it was quite easy to get to. The hotel itself well... the greeting was less than friendly. Their luggage storage was basically the janitors closet and it wasn't locked, the "lift" to get up to the 4th floor is an old school lift where you have to open a door and then get inside the lift. The rooms themselves are quite basic, no coffee/tea, kettle, mini fridge. There are vending machines downstairs for snacks though. The room was spacious enough and the bathroom was a good size although the actual shower was small. Water pressure was ok though and the water was nice and hot. The room was cozy once you closed the window which was good as you're only given one blanket with no spares in the room. Checkout was a bit annoying as the person on the front desk didn't speak any English so I had to get out "google translate" to help me talk to this man about payment. All in all, for $65 AUD a night, it could have been worse so it was value for money.
Hotel has great location - very close to Check Point Charlie, i had room in upper floor, just normal room - a bit old fashioned. Breakfast was okay - cheese, meat, breakfast cereals, fruits, yogurt, coffee etc.
This is more hostel than hotel. The building is careworn, dark and sombre without any facilities for guests apart from the breakfast room and a vending machine. The staff were surly and the bedroom was narrow and lacked even a mirror. The bed was singularly the most uncomfortable I have ever tried to sleep in! The positives are its proximity to Checkpoint Charlie and that it is clean.
If you're looking for somewhere fairly inexpensive and in a good location for sightseeing than you couldn't do better than this. Breakfast is decent enough and I managed to check in at 12.30am with little issue. The vending machine in the hotel also sells beer!
Equipment in our room was budget-like and the groundplan of the room was very nonstandard. Clearly the reason was that hotel rooms are built on the top of the old house in attic. Old house has high ceiling and lift ends in the 4th floor. On the way to your room you must go with your luggage on stairs to the 5th floor and after that through long corridors. We use it only for sleeping overnight for two days. There is possible to use parking places in the street near the hotel. For the parking you use special permission card of the hotel. If you would go another 500 m on the street where you could park the car you will get to the Checkpoint Charlie - best known crossing point of Berlin Wall from the time of cold war.
Only highlights! Top: breakfeast; clean; no noise; ideal temperature inside the bedroom. Amazing location! wonderful beer houses just a few metres away. Perfect to sighseeing Berlim by foot! On the night we arrived it was already late (11pm) and everything was ready for a quick check inn. Staff was extremely friendly and it is possible to get in any time at night. There is always someone to receive us.
