The hotel is situated within the complex of the East Berlin train hub. The tracks can be reached directly from the hotel. Without changing trains one can reach within minutes the Alexander Platz with its very diversified malls and department stores. One stop further are right at the station the Hackeschen Courts and the Hackeschen Market with their rows of culinary diversified offers. The next train stop is at the elegant Friedrich Strasse. In the basement of the East Berlin train station is a large food supermarket open till 11 PM, where one can find chilled food for a quick snack. Since the hotel is not directly in the tourist areas, the rates are more moderate, especially for early bookings. The rooms are functional, and the service of all the staff is very good..
You get a transit pass while you stay there, and being next to the station, great place to start exploring Berlin. Nice rooms but can be a bit noisy because of the trains. Rooms not facing the train platform are quieter.
*Pluses -good transportation links -Rewe, Starbucks, McCafé, Dunkin' Donuts and Subway at the Ostbahnhof -clean rooms -helpful staff *Minuses - some skinheads tend to gather near the hotel because of its proximity to the Ostbahnhof -can be a bit noisy outside
Extremely clean rooms, absolutely loved that! The bathroom too, very clean, quite big and really nice to stay in. Bed and the room are large, nicely decorated and have a great big TV. I also loved how you get a free ticket for Berlin public transport. It's really ideal for a short business trip, the hotel is right in the train station and with the ticket you can be easily on your way in the city. Staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all an excellent experience. Only downside was the Wifi that didn't work well for me.
We booked a room in this hotel, after reading the reviews and it was really good value for money! Everything was perfect, the room was nice and clean, the staff was very kind. The location is extremely comfortable, you have many places to eat around, shops, supermarket, dry cleaning, basically everything you need. Although it's not in the city center, It's very comfortable to use different public transport, since the hotel is just "around the corner" of the station. And the free ticket for the public transportation, the hotel gives u, is a good bonus :-) The hotel is very quiet as well and the rooms are soundproof. I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Berlin!
Great place to stay. So central and accessible to everywhere. Staff were really friendly and helpful and even gave us complimentary public transport tickets for the weekend which covered all busses, train, tram, underground etc. Walking distance to so many places and an entrance into the train station for anywhere further afield. Clean, comfortable rooms and great showers!
the hotel is in the train/subway station. you don't have to go outside to enter the reception. the are many food places, a penny and a kaufland shop in the station. in front of the hotel it is a public parking with only 5 euro/24 hours. at the reception they charge 12 euro/day for parking in the same spot. the free transportation across Berlin tickets from the reception save you a lot of money. the hotel is very quiet, you can't say that you are on a train station.
I stayed here for six nights as I was meant to run the Berlin Half Marathon and this was a close hotel option from my travel agent. The bed was comfortable, the room was what you needed. The towels were terrible, they felt like sand paper! The wifi was hit and miss and you had to login every single time you came back to your room. The greatest part was you get a free travel card for all A,B,C zones - which means you can travel out to Potsdam and back for no charge and take as many trains, buses or trams as you like. Which saved me over 50euro for six days. The hotel is also right in the train station, which is very handy! The breakfast is ridiculously expensive for what you get! Would suggest venturing out to find breakfast!
I have stayed in the Intercity Haubanoff Hotel before but this time it was full so I thought this would be fine. Wrong choice, there was some sort of training event on and the corridors during the day were set up with table for persons to stand and have coffee between the course events. As we had arrived we chose to eat there for an evening meal........ wrong choice, food was grim, and overpriced. My business associate had a chicken type casserole looked fine but was so salty inedible . I chose schnitzel, arrive with a cold greasy concoction of cooked potatoes that was grim. Food was so bad ended up in the train station below, bit choice of cheapening places down there. Breakfast was OK but the actual area allocated for the buffet was extremely small & narrow and continually on top of each other. Not at all a relaxing experience. The coffee there was also terribly strong and grim.... overall not a good experience. Room was fine clean & warm. Taken this one off the list for sure next time if i stay in Berlin book the Intercity Haubanoff stayed there in Feb 2016 and it was amazing would not think that they both from the same chain. Perhaps when it was fully booked and other decent hotels fully booked was reason why this hotel still had vacancies If there is another option go for it, certainly wont be going back
Good average hotel for a few night's stay. Prompt reply from staff prior to arrival. Excellent location to get around the city, with plenty of fast food places just on the doorstep. Clean rooms, comfy beds.
