Hotel Sylter Hof Berlin

Right on the S-Bahn, getting around the city couldn't be easier. The M29 and M100 will get you to most places and they are steps from the front door. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are large, nicely furnished and clean. Our room was in the back of the hotel and was very quiet. We slept well during our week long visit. The breakfast buffet has a large selection from sausage, to liverwurst, to pastries to eggs and the most delicious bread.

On my first trip to Berlin I took the advice of a friend who has been to Berlin many times and stayed at Hotel Sylter Hof. It's out of the crowded and overtouristed city center, but I found in easy to get just about anywhere I wanted to go by the excellent Berlin bus service. The hotel is a four minute walk to the U-Bahn stop at Wittenbergerplatz. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly. The breakfast is good and probably the same as one would find at any business hotel in Europe. The only complaint would be the wifi system which appears to be in need of an upgrade. All in all, I would stay at Hotel Sylter Hof for future stays because of a location that has many good, reasonably fine restaurants within a short walk, great staff, and all the basics.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Berlin and had a great stay. All the staff we encountered were really friendly and helpful. The room we had was nicely decorated and you got a free bottle of water and packets of haribo on arrival. The room wasn’t massive but certainly big enough for 2 people. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was quite large with a full bath and shower over the bath. There is a hairdryer in there as well. There is a free safe in the wardrobe. The location of the hotel is great, a short walk to the S & U Bahn and lots of restaurant and bars locally. The zoo is at the top of the road. The public transport is really easy to use and you can get to everywhere you would want to. We bought the Berlin Welcome Card before we arrived in Berlin which is good value and allows you to travel on buses, trains and trams with it. We didn’t eat in the hotel but we did use the bar which was very reasonably priced and the staff were very attentive. The hotel has a luggage room which you can use to leave bags if you are not leaving till later in the day. I would happily stay here again.

People really kind at the reception. Good breakfast. Car park for 14 euros. Only issue is the nose of the road. I was not able to exchange of room. My be it was à problem for me and it will not be for other.

I stayed at Sylter hof Berlin for three days but couldn’t say I enjoyed it. It is not too far away from the TXL airport, about 20 euros by taxi. The front desk female agent was not very friendly from the very beginning. She refused to give the second key card even I explained that I need my computer and other devices charged all the time as I am in town for a presentation. I was never rejected for the second key card ever! I guess this hotel is concerned the extra electric consumption for the second key card might bring. I requested a quiet room on high floor while making reservation but the agent couldn’t accommodate the request. She just said “ come back tomorrow morning and check again”. Indeed I was allocated to a lousy room and woken up next morning by construction work across street. Went down the front desk to switch to another room. Another female agent asked me to pay extra for a quiet room. While they certainly can ask guest to pay more, I had better experience with other hotels in such circumstance that are willing to accommodate without asking for extra. I had no better option but paid for a “ quiet room”. After that, the agent asked me to move out the room immediately because “ we need to sell your room”. I told her that I need to attend a meeting soon and asked if they can send someone to move my bags to the new room. Got shut down again with a lukewarm response “ I don’t have anyone for you”. To this point, I am just so fed up with this facility. The room itself is basic and clean for my “ quiet room”. The only bright spot of this hotel is a young new employee that was always nice and smiling , a big contrast to his senior female colleagues, which gave a sense of warm while staying at this hotel.

Had a standard room that came with the package. Nice modern room Double (twin) bed Large modern bathroom. Breakfast, again with package, plenty of variety. Hot and Cold food. Lifts to all floors. Staff very helpful. Would stay again. Couple of minor complaints....no kettle in room and non at reception (like a nice cuppa when getting up) The hotel is very close to zoological gardens, the main terminus of trains and buses Very handy. A Big plus was that the bus 100 stopped outside the hotel. This bus takes you to all the main tourist sites. We never had to take a taxi anywhere. A little studying of the transport system and you can travel all over Berlin (and beyond) as part of the adventure. As I said would use this hotel again.

As somebody else has mentioned, this hotel deserves more than its 3 star rating. With staff who couldn't do more to help you, clean rooms and a fantastic location, I will certainly be returning to this hotel on my next trip to Berlin.

This hotel is rated as 3 star hotel but it's more then that . From the moment you book in you are made to feel welcome and the staff are friendly and very helpful giving advice on the city. We were very surprised with the room located on the 16 floor it was a small apartment with kitchen and views across the city. Grab the breakfast for 11 Euros money well spent a great selection. I will visit again and stay here again

Our 3 night stay here was fantastic. We had a one bedroom suite which was beautiful and 10 times better than other places we stayed at for the same cost. Reception (Kevin) was highly professional and welcoming, elegant bar area and great location. Can't recommend highly enough

I saw in someone else's review that this was the "best 3 star hotel" they had ever stayed in, and I will second that, but add that I think it is worth 4 stars! We had a double room with modern, fresh decor, very clean, with nice linens on the bed and apparently really good soundproofing as it was blissfully quiet! The breakfast was lovely, definitely value for money (as well as for the convenience of being able to wander down to a nice breakfast when you wake up). I originally chose this hotel for it's excellent location, and it was perfect: for running and walking (or chilling!) in the Tiergarten, for walking/sightseeing around Berlin, for shopping and good restaurants. The tourist bus stops right in front of the hotel (in case you get tired of walking!) and it is a short, easy 10 minute walk to the Zoo Station where you can catch the Express bus to Tegel Airport. We were travelling as tourists, but this hotel is also really well set up and located for business or conferences. We had a great stay, would highly recommend!
