On my 4th visit to Berlin,I again stayed at Hotel Otto. I always enjoy staying there. The staff is friendly and helpful, the neighborhood is great, there are several good restaurants within walking distance, and the hotel itself is clean and comfortable. I enjoyed afternoon tea in their top-floor lounge. The U subway train is close by and provides easy access to the rest of Berlin. On my next trip to Berlin,I will stay at Hotel Otto again.
My third stay, this time in the smaller studio on the 6th floor. Yes, there are drawbacks...but I doubt I'd want stay anyway else in Berlin. The breakfast is just wonderful...because thought and imagination go into it. The menu changes both by the season and by the day. Little touches - pickles, relishes, homemade cakes, even whole raw carrots included amongst the salads, to please a group of Asian visitors, flavoured waters, different cheeses, meats and fish...the staff really make an effort. And in the afternoons, unlimited tea and coffee and a small selection of pastries and filled rolls to enjoy, while you sit inside or on the balcony. Studios have everything you need for self catering. Some rooms on the middle floors are large, with separate seating areas, walk-in wardrobes, generous sized bathrooms and machines for tea and coffee; smaller rooms have fewer facilities. Drawbacks: 1) the lift stops at mezzanine levels between floors and does not reach the studios or the dining room on the 7th floor 2) Wifi signal is sometimes weak, but usually OK in the breakfast room 3) the building faces east/ west, so rooms at the back get hot in summer (but you can open the windows and Juliet balcony doors). The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. A very well run hotel that deserves the awards it regularly receives.
We were a family of 4 and our room was huge. It is close to good coffee shops and restaurants, also the Ku'damm and the Tiergarten. The staff was super friendly and multi-lingual. My son liked the daily ice cream treats. I wish I had known they had bikes as we rented bikes off site (I didn't even ask). We were also able to have our laundry done at a reasonable cost. I can't wait to go back to Berlin just to stay there.
This is a lovely hotel in an interesting area of the city, near to restaurants, cafés, shops, public transport and other amenities. I enjoyed the modern and stylish decor of the room, the dining area and terrace at the top of the hotel where a delicious breakfast was offered and where free snacks were available in the afternoon. The staff were kind and knowledgeable. I will definitely try to stay here again next time I visit Berlin.
Lovely staff, allways helpfull. Fine room. The Breakfast awsome. You cannot ask for more. Even Champagne. I will return next time I am in Berlin. Nice localtion, with many restaurants, shops and parks
Went with a group of friends Pros Very clean Lovely area Near transport links Great breakfast Great customer service Free Drinks and amazing cakes in afternoon Cons Quite a way out of centre No one on site after 11. Which was not a hardship for us
Very friendly staff. Rooms spacious, clean and quiet (to the back side). Parking the car is safe (extra costs apply). Excellent breakfast with lots of varieties, fresh fruit, eggs/coffee cooked to order, lovely attentive service at the restaurant. Lift is a bit slow, but kids loved the surprise button in it. Possibility to rent bikes at the hotel, which is great to explore the city on weekends. Many good restaurants in the area. Will definitely stay there again!
Hotel Otto is in a nice part of Berlin on a street with plenty of restaurants and bookshops. The zoo is 15 minutes away and Berlin's excellent transport system can get you to all the sights. Our room was very spacious (especially for the price) and the shower was good; the staff were very helpful with directions. That said the room was a bit hot (there was a fan, rather than aircon) and the street noisy in the early mornings. The lift stops on mezzanine levels between floors which is a pain if you have luggage. It is not a full-service hotel. The only real communal area of the hotel is the breakfast room, where we had to hang out while our room was being cleaned.
Well located if you want a quiet hotel and close to both U Bahn (5 mins) and S Bahn (7mins). Some good bars and restaurants in the area. Rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is excellent. Nice views from 7th floor!
We chose to stay at hotel otto to celebrate a special wedding anniversary after reading positive reviews about it. We were also advised that Charlottenberg is a nicer area to stay in then the centre of Berlin. The hotel was very comfortable and clean and the staff were all very pleasant and made us feel welcome. The room was a little too hot but we found that if we left the curtains closed it stayed cooler. Berlin is a very interesting city to visit and public transport very efficient and easy to use. We were very happy that we chose hotel otto and this area as there were plenty of good restaurants around and we were spoilt for choice. We had a meal at belmondo across the road on the day of our anniversary which was one of the best meals we have had anywhere. Tia Rica was also very nice Altogether I think it would be difficult to find a more pleasant hotel or a nicer area to stay in.
