Everything was alright during our 4 nights stay except for the hotel's location which is in the middle of a forest. It is a good 10-15 minutes walk until the bus stop in freezing cold. This maybe acceptable and tolerable during the day but not after sunset because the way back into the hotel is totally pitch black and quite eerie. The bus brings you to station Koepenick with trains that will take you direct to the city. The various connections of public transport is quite good, but we decided to take a taxi to avoid the darkness of the woods and it costs 20€ from Koepenick train station to the hotel. Our decision to stay at this hotel was spur of the moment as we have a previous reservation with another hotel. However, when we arrived at that other hotel, there was an ongoing technical breakdown leaving the establishment without heating and warm water so we had to find a last minute solution. That is how we ended at Hotel Müggelsee Berlin! Nonetheless, we are satisfied with the courteousness of the staff, the cleanliness of the hotel and the comfort of our room... As previously mentioned, the hotel's location is way too far from the main street and bus stop. The road into the woods is very dark and quite scary, it reminds me of the film "Blair Witch Project". I suggest that the hotel should at least provide a shuttle service to their guests until the nearest bus stop. This may eventually attract more guests and increase their revenue, plus they should provide free internet access!
We were really excited to visit this hotel when we booked. The information said a double bed in a lovely hotel on the banks of the lake. Wow! Unfortunately we did not get what was advertised. Yes, the hotel could once have been lovely and fresh but over the years it has become shabby and needs to be cleaned with air freshener. The smell of the interior was really musty and in some cases unpleasant. Our first challenge was to discover that the 1 x double bed did not mean 1 x double bed. It meant 2 single beds which could be pushed together and which were not comfortable at all. The staff were unaccommodating and were not really interested in whether we got what the information said or not. Once thing we have to say is that the reception area and the bar area were nice.
it is far away from the berlin center ... the rooms are ok .. in the style of the 90s ... no minibar ... no free wlan in the room.. only against payment ... breakfast buffet ok ... dinner there is also only buffet .. is however also in order ... have a nice bar ... and the terrain around the hotel is also very nice and green ... suitable for walks around and shipping on the müggelsee ... great sauna area ... but also in the years come ... bathrobe costs also .. at the weekend you can bowling play ... personal is mostly friendly .. unfortunately there are exceptions ... is more a bus trips and meeting hotel ... there were many large groups on site ... a topic I would like to address ... mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes ... that was very annoying ... by the lake there are probably problems ... stay was ok..thanks
We stayed there 3 nights in a Junior Suite but the room is small as standard room without any in room facilities. It seems very aging hotel with 30-40 years old. Hotel is situated in the sub-areas of Kopenick with surrounding of Muggelsee lake and forest. It would be nice location to enjoy the nature. However hotel is very old with smelly carpet, shaking elevator. Hotel does have no water nor tea, coffee in room facilities. The event had been running during power cut off in few hours as hotel does have back up generator with full capacity. The good points are breakfast and diner that you can enjoy.
Entering the spacy area of the hotel you immediately can imagine the reason the hotel had been built in 1975. But why do they still give the impression they offer extraordinary services like at DDR times? They AC is inefficient, makes a lot of noice but no cold air. The Jalousie has to be completely monitored manually, aisles get like sauna during sunshine. Nevertheless they serve nice lunch and dinner buffet. Sauna is spacy and relaxing. But i didn't enjoy very much because the hotel neither offered comfortable towels nor a bathing gown. Sumed up i perceived them out of date, not service oriented, not attentive.
The Hotel itself is located next to the Mueggelsee in Berlin and is catering for those enjoying the lake or who have been asked to participate in a conference there. The hotel seems be build in the 70s, with some more renovations during time. For a 4 star premise, it is too much worn and smelly for my taste. Also it's one of the few places in Berlin which are really difficult to reach with public transport. Food (Dinner & Breakfast, both Buffet Style where ok) What is pretty nice though is the overall layout - with a mayor yard in the center and all rooms have a balcony.
The hotel is situated app. 32 km from the center of Berlin, in the middle of the city forest, at the bank of the big lake. The location is idealistic, you are just enough close and just enough away from the city. It is perfect for those, who wants to spend quite evenings after a full day of experience in the big city. Make sure you plan the visit for at least couple of days, rent a bike and just ride through the forest, it is just amazing. The rooms are clean and tidy, no complaints regarding their service. The things they should improve is definately the mini bar, there is none in the room, there is space in the closet, but no mini bar inside. Second, they should renew or demolish the buildings around the hotel, once it was probably the nobel resort, now the abandoned buildings do not show their formal glory. General opinion: the hotel has big potential, shame they do not take advantage of it.
