We stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time, rooms were super comfortable and really clean, breakfast was also great and had a really good buffet selection. Staff were helpful and friendly and there is a lovely area outside the hotel to sit and have a drink. Location was also great with many bars and restaurants 5 minutes walk away, the station is a 2 min walk from the hotel and links into the centre are fast and easy, Can't wait to stay again!
The world-wide chain is a budget leader. It’s clean and comfortable, quiet too. We didn’t hear any guest though the hotel may not have been full. I rarely noticed any traffic as we were on the rear of the building with only a view internally and over the sunroof on the bistro. The bathroom has plenty of space, good mirrors and importantly it is well lit. We reworked the bedding which was set up as two singles as per standard German practice. There was free Wi-Fi. Holiday Inn’s corporate colours, at least externally, are green and white. The green theme is played out there with large bottles of hand soaps and shampoo / shower gel. No chance to “pinchapoo”. It’s not a huge hotel. We were on the top floor, in Room 609. The “bar” was the lobby but staff could fetch a beer or coffee for you. A buffet breakfast provides plenty of fuel for a day’s exploration. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner here. There are a few options nearby. If you want tickets for public transport ask reception. To reach the hotel from Berlin Tegel by public transport, buy a daily ticket from the machine or staff and travel by TXL Bus to Alexanderplatz via the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). From there continue your journey on a Straßenbahn (tram) on route M2 to Steinberg and get off at Erich-Weinert-Straße. The hotel is on your left. The main road changes to Prenzlauer Promenade. If you are still on the tram then you have gone too far, like we did. From the smaller Schönefeld airport (SXL) there is a train direct to S-Bahn station Prenzlauer Allee.
Don't let first impressions of the area concern you as there is a great deal of building work going on, as there is all over Berlin. The hotel is right next to the Mercedes Benz Arena in a quite area very near to the river, the Oberbaum Bridge and the East Side Gallery (one of the remaining pieces of the Berlin Wall) Berlins transport links are superb with day tickets available for as little as about £5 for buses, trams, overground and underground trains. The nearest station is Warschauerstrasse which is a 5/10 minute walk and just three stops to Alexanderplatz. There are not really many bars/restaurants really close but you can wander across the Oberbaum bridge to Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg which is good but you must go to Friedrichshain and in particular the area around Simon Dach Strasse which is packed with bars/eateries and is very relaxed and great value. You can walk here from the hotel but a cab might be better at about €8. The hotels itself is quite new and very quiet and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and all spoke superb English and were very helpful at all times. A credit to HolidayInn and Berlin. The rooms were well appointed with very comfortable beds and well soundproofed rooms. We didn't eat in the hotel but the food looked good, reasonably priced and the bar was readily utilised! Again with very sensible prices. Having been to many other areas during our trip I would definitely stay here again due to the proximity of the aforementioned areas to visit in the evenings. The likes of Alexanderplatz (TV tower), whilst being slightly further in, were very commercialised (fast food outlets, few bars, no atmosphere) and I would have been pretty disappointed staying there.
The hotel is near Mercedes Benz Arena that is used for concerts, etc. Walking distance to a concert was great. Also a walking distance to the Berlin Wall. Food at the hotel very, very expensive and the quality of the food did not reflect the price - in my opinion. There is also a breakfast for an extra charge but again - way too expensive . . . This hotel is - location, location, location . .
The Holiday Inn, East Berlin, was greeted with friendly and helpful staff from start to finish. Rooms were fab and had a great time there...shame I didn't have time to have some food there as I was only there one night due to the nature of my trip Berlin was a busy City, like most major cities in the world full of people begging and offering you drugs...graffiti was everywhere and you sometimes wondered how they could possibly get to write on certain buildings! The Bi Nuu was a great venue to watch a band and thoroughly enjoyed it! Searched the city on the next day and found a street with several cafes on...food was ace! Berlin, I thank you 😁
Just great hotel!!! It is brand new, very central location to east berlin, the rooms have everything you need and they are fantastic! The breakfast good but the restaurant it is fantastic! Try the soup with tomato. Excellent service to restaurant, reception, everywhere. My best congratulations to management. There is starbucks to lobby. It is excellent hotel and i will go again for sure. Very good wifi. They build also next to hotel a mall.
The rooms are simple, as expected for Holiday Inn. They are clean, well laid out, and have nice bathrooms. The location is literally diagonally from the Mercedes Arena, and everything is easily walked to (as well as public transportation stations). The neighbourhood has loads of opportunities for great food, is half a block from The Wall, and The Wall Museum, as well as a simple block from the bridge that I (sadly) know from Run Lola Run :-) I highly recommend this hotel. Furthermore, I ate at their restaurant dinner two nights in a row. The service was lovely/nice, and the food was literally outstanding. I see that some others have had lesser experiences as told in their reviews, but this was of the highest quality and taste experience. I was feeling as if I was in a high-end restaurant! The second night I had a lovely burger - far better than much more expensive ones back home in the UK. The only down side was that the temperature control never seemed to kick in, but it may shut off when you leave (as you have taken your key), and take a while to work. I am not sure. In summary, a great stay, and kudos to all the staff.
We stay in this hotel for one week. Very nice and big room. Personal on the reception is very kindly. Breakfast was very good and fresh. Locatie - is also very good. very close to East side gallery en metro ban ( last station from line U1). One minus punt what i find - it is how room was clean. Several times cleaning personal did not do rubbish from basket away and once we missed cover for our blanket. Also beds are very soft, so if you have problem with your back than you probably you can not sleep wel Also in hotel you have free wifi
I stayed in the Holiday Inn City East Side for one night in March 2017 when I was in Berlin on business. Arrived late and left early in the morning so did not have the chance to check out every single detail. Was nicely greeted at check-in and the process went smooth and quick. Had a room in one of the upper floors with views of the Mercedes-Benz Arena. My room was spacious and clean, overall a very pleasant experience. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast was very nice, too - large assortment of things and good quality. The only little let down here was that the restaurant space seemed small for the amount of people that were having breakfast at the same time. This was probably due to a larger group travelling together but I had to wait for a few minutes for a spot at a table to sit down. Checkout process was smooth and quick as well so overall a very good experience - would definitely stay here again.
the Holiday inn east side is a modern hotel. Good location for the arena and for the price a good base to explore Berlin. Nice rooms , great breakfast and really nice and helpful staff. there is some redevelopment going on nearby but thats happening all over Berlin. From the airport ( Schönefeld Airport ) in our case just. Getting from airport we just jumped on the pankow bound train (S9) change at S Ostkreuz , then onto the (S7) heading toward Potsdam for one stop get off at S+U Warschauer Str. then easy walk to the hotel. one import thing remember to validate train tickets in one of the machines at the stations , ie once you have purchase a ticket you see these franking machines on the platform push ticket in and it date stamps the time so the 24 hours are ticking etc. someone will show you if in doubt , like we were : ) The Mercedes Benz arena is literally opposite! , we left the Arena after the show and we were in the Holiday inn bar in under 10 minutes ! nearby stuff to do , piece of Berlin wall and museum 5 mins walk and the Oberbaum Bridge over the Spree is just 5 mins walk to the other main attractions just take the train to alexanderplatz for the shopping hub , and from there to the main sites 3km to Brandenburg gate etc , if you get chance the Stasimuseum is worth a visit being so close by. Staff will give you info on any points of interest and maps and help out with transportation information. we did the hop on hop off tour bus , i love those : )
