Gorgeous hotel set in the countryside bit far out of the way but there is such a thing as public transport. The decor was really quirky especially the dining room! The food was outstanding, staff were very friendly and the hotel was spotless. Bad point for me was the bed - 2 single beds instead of a double (I like to starfish lol) and, this might sound a bit silly, but the pillows were too soft. Woke up with a headache one morning because of it. Also had a bit of trouble connecting to the wifi and once I managed to connect it was quite slow. Despite the bed it won't put me off staying there again if I return to Berlin, I'll just bring my own pillow next time :)
We came by coach for a 2-night visit to Berlin. The hotel, in a leafy suburb, was charming. Our party was welcomed and cases transferred efficiently to our rooms. The rooms were a good size, but our hairdryer and bathroom socket were out of order. Once reported they were fixed immediately. The restaurant was thematically designed as an antique pharmacy with lots of interesting memorabilia. The buffet served both nights was excellent with something for everyone, soup, cold starters and 3 mains to choose. Breakfast was average, a good choice of fruit cereals and yogurts, nice coffee and a selection of teas. Scrambled egg was the hot dish both days, but was a bit solid and congealed and not as freshly cooked as I like. A pleasant stay, you need transport to get into Berlin, but the S Bahn is not too far. There is a nice wood for walking on good paths just opposite. We will stay again.
Enjoyed my stay here in a pleasant hotel run by a family. Nice location but with some aircraft noise which did not disturb me. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable the restaurant and bar are old world with lots of interesting artefacts. Food was well prepared and plentiful.
Stayed here on a Leger coach holiday for 2 nights. Its outside of Berlin but set in lovely countryside. There is a railway station nearby but it wasn't noisy. Had a single room and the bed was a bit narrow but very comfortable. The bathroom had a shower with good pressure. No toiletries but soap in a dispenser, although there were make up remover balls and other handy accessories. The décor is a bit unusual (a mixture of spots and stripes! in red and cream!) but suits the place. TV has some English language channels. There is no air-conditioning but the windows open. Free WiFi was fast. Meals were buffet style but a lovely choice. Bar prices were a bit steep.
rooms a little dated ,no coffee or bathroom complimentaries in room.Bar and restaurant very nice and "traditional" the food was excellent and staff were great.Outside the "alfresco" facilities were good and their was a woodland walk across the road.Travel to central Berlin was easy with a railway station a few minutes walk away.Noise from planes, trains and road could be a problem for some, however, overall it was ok for a couple of nights!
We stayed here for one night with Leger coach holiday tour the evening meal was superb and the breakfast was the same. Unfortunately I lost my small in ear, hearing aid,so my wife and I searched our room from top to bottom with no luck so gave up. Two days later I was told it was found by staff at the hotel and our drivers Tony and John were contacted through Legers office . The reception staff Andreas & Kristin arranged to post it home. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, cool forest air coming in the large windows. Thanks to all at Gruenau hotel . Pete.
Staying here on business and not wanting to go into the city centre my colleague and I decided to eat at the hotel restaurant- Dillmans Drogerie. I had grilled mushroom salad as starter and herring for main course washed down with the local beer. Good wholesome food. Looks a bit like a rustic pub but good for a one night dinner.
Some distance from Berlin. View from room over the wooded area. Very quiet and peaceful location in spite of close proximity to the railway. Very comfortable room which was very clean and attractively decorated and well furnished. No tea or coffee making facilities in room. Satellite TV Room was well air conditioned. Well equipped bathroom, however no complimentary toiletries. There was a foam soap wall dispenser above the sink and a wall shower gel dispenser in the shower area. Breakfast was included offering plenty of choice to suit all tastes.
Stayed just one night on our way to an early flight from Schönefeld Airport. The location seems to be a little bit remote; but also interesting. If more time to spend here I am sure the area around the hotel could be very charming/interesting. The important thing - the sleep. Sleept fantastic. Nice beds, clean room and strong WiFi. All you need for one night. Had dinner in the hotelrestaurant; surprisingly good.
We stayed here as part of a European coach trip in September. It was a traditional/old fashioned hotel surrounded by a forest about 30 km from the centre of Berlin. Our breakfast and evening meals were included in our tour. Unfortunately both evenings I went to the buffet for dinner the food ran out! Breakfast was plentiful.
